a big hello to mr drake

chosing the wrong type might decrease the chances for a confirmation, but that isn't producing an errormessage. this feature is actually quite realistic. if i shoot down a nieuport i often don't know if it's a nieuport bis or whatever type, or if it's a se5 hispano suiza or other version (no labels). you can even choose a completely different AC and can get the confirmation with some luck. i once shot down a camel, but claimed it as a pup since the type was new at the front and the camel wasn't chosable yet, and got it confirmed. and in real i probably would have also claimed a pup because that's the type i know at that period. well done, devs p.s. MvR has often claimed a vickers when having shot down a fee and also got it confirmed.

OT: violence in video games
Creaghorn replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
if i remember correctly that was a Dr1 and he had some fuelleak. the engine or cockpit then even had some certain signs of ignition (as they showed in slomo) and he made an immediate landing in time. -
OT: violence in video games
Creaghorn replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
yes. also tried that sort of things, but the cursing etc. i found out weren't necessary because i was cursing also in real red out is a good thing. should also be in BHAH when beeing wounded. the more severe, the longer the red out phases, and the longer you fly wounded, the red out phases should increase to the point where it never get's out again and you lose control. IMHO there should also be implemented when having a trail of smoke, the smoke should start in front of your face from the engine and your vision should get affected. in real when they made it down safely, they were as black as coalmine workers and happy they made it down. also a realistic reason to stop hunting to finish your kill instead of continueing shooting with yourself smoking. also when having a leak from the petroltank. there should be the very probable possibility that after a while you explode or that instantly or after a while it ignites and fire breaks out. there is aviation gas dropping and leaking onto a hot running engine. in real they immediately and panically switched off the engine and went into a glide. not at all fighting and thinking, oh, it's only a small leak so i can fight for another 5 minutes and then i can land somewhere. -
found out it's not nhancer but supersampling. for some reason BHAH doesn't like Supersampling anymore. i tried it with normal control panel and it also froze. when trying with multisampling it works bt the shimmering etc is just ugly. does anybody know why my gtx260 doesn't like SS anymore? under xp 32 bit it always worked flawlessly. i also tried different drivers with no difference. sometimes i think they programmers just care for 32 bit and then they rush to also make some faulty driver for 64 bit rigs. anybody a suggestion what to do?
-
it is a nhancer problem because in every other nhancer-setting it didn't happen, but in the normal AA-enhancer mode it looks terrible and cartoonish (reason might also be that nhancer AA mode with 9...series of drivers doesn't work well, regarding to some google search) or in combined mode with something else as combined x8 the clouds drop the fps to low 20ies. haven't tried the nvidia control panel AA modes without nhancer yet. will do that as soon as i'm at home. nontheless i would like to have the combinded settings work because it makes the graphic look much more photorealistic than normal AA.

hi, i'm using a GTX260 OC on win7 64 bit and current enhancer 64-bit. i'm using the setting "combined 8x" it looks really great and FPS never drops beyond 50 or so. BUT, when there is somewhere a burning and smoking AC it freezes completely and i have to reboot. strange thing is it doesn't freeze immediately but after a while or when getting really close to a smoking AC (or my own), so i think the cause must be a texture or something. on every other nhancer setting it doesn't freeze but anything "non combined" just looks terrible and any other combined setting (4x, 8Q etc.) looks good and it does not freez, but when looking into clouds FPS drop into the low 20ies. so the only good setting is combined 8x, but there is the annoying freeze. i have also tried older nvidia drivers with the same result. strangely when trying older nhancers 64 bit there appears an errormessage that some xml file is faulty or something. does anybody has the same experience or a solution? thank you in advance

Parky, von Paulus, please advice
Creaghorn replied to Creaghorn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
don't know why somebody from portugal would like to go to germany, but all righty. if you ever get near, just give a sign and i would gladly like to invite you to a frankonian beer (german beer and german beer is not the same if you know what i mean). . same goes for parky, appraiserfl and everybody else who at some time visits southern germany. -

von paulus, parky, and everybody who helped me so great here, a big thank you . works like a crisp. trying to get out the maximum of the new rig just to see how far i can get. even during major offensives in 1918 with airactivity set to high and ground object density set to high with sliders maxed out with everything set on 5 besides terrain and scenerie (set on 4) FPS never falls beyond 50. only at airfields it's about 30+. never knew that the scenerie is that beautiful. now it really looks like google earth. WOW. still got to tweak some settings with nhancer. at the moment all is perfect, only when looking into specific clouds FPS fall into the 20ies. it's not the whole sky. even when overcast and foggy it's perfect. i think my current setting just doesn't like one specific sort of cloud. have to find out why. also this bloom and hdr mod i'm not using anymore. when trying it falls from 60 to about 40 FPS. turning it off makes the FPS jump up again to the max. strangely the mirrors are not reflecting anymore but look more like foggy glas. it reflects light etc. but not anything visual. but anyway. i think that's minor issues related to the GPU. since i know that my GTX 260 is the bottleneck now (and that's a good feeling to know that a, still quite good and strong GTX260 is a bottleneck) the next step in a year or so (or when p4 is released) is to upgrade the GPU. once again a big thank you to all of you guys. especially to parky and von paulus. you're the best -

Devs - How are QC Hours Logged?
Creaghorn replied to Duce Lewis's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
same here. the log and hours in QC affect the stats in the campaign, just the date is unaffected. that's why i don't use any serious campaign pilots for QC. also almost after every QC flight there are some squadron changes (squadmates missing, new transfers etc.). -
TrackIR - Image tearing at monitor edges
Creaghorn replied to Over50's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
at least on my rig the tearing was reduced greatly by increasing AA. especially since using nhancer with AA/AF combined. almost no tearing at all. of course it slows down overall performance, but with a better rig that might be the solution. tearing happens more often near airfields and near towns. -

that's a shame. would really be fun . -
just a shot into the blue (or how it's called). is it possible your monitor refreshrate is not set right? i heard when that's the case some games ctd. that would maybe explain why other games work. i also heard that's a win7 glitch because it doesn't see 60hz but only 59, though the picture is the same, but some games doesn't like the fact. is it also possible that one of your RAM sticks is broken?

my psu has 750w. i'll try it with it before considering buying a new one. but thank you for the hint. didn't even consider stuff like that. since i'm such a fool regarding computers, i'm like some geek who buys a ford mustang bullit, instead of building and restore it by myself... . but alone in this topic i've learned so much by you guys... it's done...the button for getting closer to divorce is pushed... -
Parky, von Paulus, please advice

i think i'll stick with it till the new high end gpu's get cheaper. though it's a tempting idea to start to upgrade it slowly. -

Regional Air Activity & Bombers
Creaghorn replied to Ryan H's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
wingmen DO attack two seaters, but not as aggressively as they attack scouts. it's rather realistic how the wingmen behave, by stalking the twoseaters and then attacking, then after a while and turn away again and getting ready for a second pass. this is how behave wingmen who want to have a kill, and also want to survive and how a real pilot would behave. if additionally the twoseaters would be more evasive (or having the HiTR AI) or if the would start to circle and protect each others back, as it was in real, then it would also be tough to get one down and survive. you also must not forget that it's easier for you to hit them from the distance because you see those ecffects of hitting them from far away. in real they didn't have a clou if they hit them or not to the moment the hostile aircraft began to smoke or fell apart ect. so they had to get really close. so yes, the twoseaters could be more evasive, maybe even every now and then be aggressive. and no, the wingmen behave like you would expect them to behave if it was in real. -

since my name is not "Q" or "Scottie", somebody else is better going to do this . my friend who recommended me the other site, does work about the same job as you two do and he said he'll do it. is it complicated then to use this fan or should i rather take a 140 fan cooler in the first place? -
Parky, von Paulus, please advice
Creaghorn replied to Creaghorn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
ok. so this is the compilation i made before i got routed to the other site. is there anything among it which you wouldn't recommend? i think that's exactly the same RAM as parky has. enough coolers or missing anything? plan is to complete this stuff with my old gtx260, old, two SATA HD's, old drives and hub and old 750w power supply etc. replace the haf922 with the haf932, which i would rather choose now. -

great info parky, thank you . i have compiled everything you all suggested and i'm ready to buy. but before i push the button, please take a look at this other variant. a company, recommended by a friend, who build the rig for you with the parts you want. also there is 2 year warranty, not from producer, but of this company, which makes things easier if something goes wrong. all other parts not included, i'll take from my own rig. so please give your opinions. -
