My contributions here will be simply to show some of the interesting ace skins as I fly my campaigns. With so very many skins I hope it will let people pick a cool skin to use without the trouble of loading every ace plane to see each one. There are just so many. How do YOU write your claim form?
Winston DoRight replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You no longer see it in the logbook. The devs thought we were too fixated on it and removed it in one of the patches. It can now only be seen by looking at your pilots claims.txt file in notepad when out of the game. I occasionally look there to see if I'm writing my claims well enough or if I need to make any changes. -

Sorry about the glare on the monitor. I couldn't get any other angle and still capture the whole thing. -

The floor is a much more dusty environment. Less dust and dirt are sucked into your machine if it's positioned on the desk rather than under it. Pics of my 'pit tomorrow. -
I feel the normal gun setting was OK when all we had was the easy damage model. Since the introduction of the hardcore and now your intermediate damage models, the normal gun setting just doesn't feel quite right anymore with anything except the easy DM. Add that fact that in campaign your wingmen are mostly idiots, and the normal gun setting really seems too weak. If you want to change it, great. If not, I still have ver 1.6 or the hardcore which I can use instead. Thanks for all your hard work on this.

Spare track clip?
Winston DoRight replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Tech support says the backward stagger of the center piece is not critical. In fact they say you can stick 3 of their self-adhesive reflective dots on your face and forehead and it'll work! Thanks to Hauksbee I won't have to resort to that! -
Spare track clip?
Winston DoRight replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well, if you could see my budget you'd understand why I can't plunk down another $15 right now for a new track clip. I just saved up for 3 months to buy Track IR! Since I'm going to cut it up to solder the pieces to a pair of eyeglasses, I'd hate to throw away $15 if I screw up. I figured that someone might have one laying around after upgrading to the Track Clip Pro. I have a good deal of stuff to swap. Anyone interested can PM me for my swap list. -
I followed your install instructions to the letter. Yes there's a readme in the root OFF folder. I'm flying an Axis campaign and have noticed that the entire complete lower wings, both sides, come off all the time on the Se5a and Camel. I just now completed a mission where I shot down a R.E.8 bomber and the wings did not come off. I'm using the strong gun setting in workshop. Normal just does not seem realistic to me unless you use the easy damage model.

My Strategy for winning the war
Winston DoRight replied to BigJim's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I seem to be poisoning the enemy soil trying to hit small targets like a single AA gun. I'm hitting a lot of ground around them but seldom a direct hit to such tiny objects. I'm sure this will produce lead tainted food eventually. But will it happen soon enough? -
Does anyone have a spare standard TrackIR Track Clip they'd like to donate? I'm thinking there are those out there who now use the Track Clip Pro exculsively now and have little or no need for their old clip. I'm going to try to adapt one to my glasses that I wear while flying. I always wear the glasses, but seldom headphones, and it's uncomfortable for me to wear a hat indoors for extra long flight sessions. Maybe I could swap you something for it?

It's always good to keep notes. If you've seen the movie "The Red Baron", did any of you notice Lothar frantically writing on his map during one of the dogfight scenes? Here's how I do it. My kneepad is made from a piece of scrap foamboard with an overlay of clear plastic sheet from a report cover. It's easily written on and erased using a dry-erase pen. The front side has space for your flight members and the mission objective, and the flip side has the enemy info that you'll need for writing your claims story. I have a replacement underlay for the back side with aircraft from the other side, easily swapped by removing the clips that hold the whole thing together. Next mission, wipe the whole thing down and start over.

First a suggestion to GeorgeBoles. Make sure your two computers are up-to-speed, so to speak. Try OFF on them single player and see that there are no problems with jumpiness, or excessive micro-stutters, and the like. If your computers are experiencing any difficulties in SP, that will be magnified in MP. Some things to check would be: 1. Can you turn off your Virus protection for OFF sessions? Doing so with mine gives me more than 10 FPS more and fewer micro-stutters. 2. Turn off all unnecessary programs for OFF sessions, check your taskbar tray, lower right for all the things that can muck down your system during game play. Now for von Bauer's very important question. he asked if the original CFS3 had the same MP problems that we are experiencing in OFF. In my personal experience, no. I've flown a few MP sessions in the original CFS3 and quite a few lately in the ETO mod and experience none of them. However OFF has a level of detail that CFS3 or even ETO doesn't come close to. The more I play multiplayer and talk to other users and modders, the more I understand about OFF. Spend a little time in the rear seat as a gunner in any bomber and you'll see the problem with the smoke trails and why they'll appear to go crazy in multiplayer. As explained to me the level of detail of the OFF aircraft may have a direct connection to MP issues. Since the LOD is so very much higher in OFF than in the original CFS3 or even ETO, that MP issues are present like jitters, warping, and impossible flight paths even though lag is low or minimal. Unfortunately this may not be fixable unless you'd settle for a lower LOD and that would make the OFF aircraft look fairly ordinary, something no one wants. Open for discussion, anyone.............? anyone..............?

Well this raises a question from me. Will the IM damage model even work under the new patch? I'm using hardcore DM right now because we just finished MP, but tonight I wanted to go back and install the IM for my single players campaign. Is installing the 1.6 intermediate damage model for campaign going to cause any problems under the new patch?
