  1. Yes, compassion sure is one of our better sides. The unconditional love of a dog to "his human" should make it almost impossible for even the hardest to resist it. How could you not feel with them, when they look into your eyes...
  2. The Bristol F.2 first suffered bad losses (von Richthofen's "Circus" shot down 5, when they first met them), because it had been sent out with a tactic of cooperation of 2 craft, which didn't work at all. But when it was recognised, that the aircraft really was a fast and solid fighter, the tactics were changed. Now the craft would fight almost like a scout. It was strong and solid enough to perform dives and turn very well, and the "Brisfit" became a craft which was feared by German scout pilots, for it attacked with it's forward gun, and then it also had twin MGs in the rear. I guess you had to be the daring kind, to attack a "Biff". TOP SPEEDS Bristol F.2 - 198 km/h Albatros D.II - 175 km/h Albatros D.III - 175 km/h Albatros D.V - 180 km/h If you see them in OFF, you get an idea of their lethality - they are usually all over the place! .
  3. This video surely fired my appetite for flying a Brisfit Campaign! This guy captured the craft excellently well - and the weather assisted him fine - enjoy!
  4. Thanks, Widowmaker - and a happy new year for you and your family!
  5. Interesting view angle on a Fokker Triplane - enjoy!
  6. Light - in the ear? How does that work???
  7. What we need to feel "good" or "optimistc" is, among other stuff, Serotonine. The more we have of that in the brain's chemistry, the more positive we feel. An important factor for producing Serotonine is sunlight. As you don't get any of that in winter at the polar circle, you should go to a "Sunlight Café", if you have one where you live, Hasse Wind. I saw that on TV, that they install such Cafés in Norway and Finnland now. You have very bright light in there with the same amount of Ultraviolett light, as the sun would give you, and you just spend the time for one or two cups of coffee in there. (Perhaps they do even sell beer or other drinks?)
  8. An excellent book - I am just reading it and I'm at the last bit of it in 1918. Definitely a keeper! So bad, eyh? And I am upset about German rail, when they have delays over Christmas... But it's noticable - things have a down-tendency here too. But read good Cecil's book - the love for England in his descriptions may make your heart glow warmer.
  9. Congrats to that, Matt - it is important for composers to appear in the credits of as many films as possible, I guess. Is your soundtrack for P4 alread done?
  10. Photos! Photos!!!! Yes, all is well for me, I guess. Quite winter-sleepy - must really force myself to do the sports. It's too often too grey here in winter.
  11. Lou, a driving job is not too bad, I suppose - you must feel rather free, compared to an office sitter I mean. And a full time job is something to have these days.
  12. Not so straining for your hand and wrist.
  13. Well, I also fly off-center. My stick is level with the right monitor edge more or less.
  14. Very fine work, Lou - I guess you must feel very happy in your "cockpit"! Never seen that SAITEK - is it a very expensive class? Looks very solid. Mind you, but what is the rock in pic 1 there for? Trimming your weight? What do your riggers say to all the new stuff?
  15. Ah, I see. I have just read Cecil Lewis' book "Sagittarius Rising", where he also wrote a good bit about that battle.
  16. Maybe he's gone skiing in Canada? Hwe'll be back soon, I hope - at least when P4 comes out.
  17. Carrick, you're a modest man. But vonBaur really beat us all. What could be greater? Quoth, is it about WW1 air combat?
  18. What was the Christmas present you were most happy about? Well, mine wasn't especially sent for Christmas, but it arrived in that time. It is a book by Heinz Nowarra: "50 JAHRE DEUTSCHE LUFTWAFFE" (Vol. 1), and it contains lots of photos I had never seen, from the first days of German military aviation, before WW1 even broke out. I didn't even know of it's existence. I got it from our forum member Hauksbee, who owned it since the 1960s, and I am very grateful for this - thank you, Hauksbee! I have just found Volume 2 (1916 - 1917) at AbeBooks, and will order that one too. .
  19. Since my return from Ostfriesland, things have been very quiet here. Maybe some are still on holidays? Well, I guess, everybody is waiting for P4, but all questions we could think of were asked many times (and mostly answered devels' cryptic code). My mom's good food, and all the self-baked cakes led inevitably to eating too much (like every year). Even a strong will could not resist it - now I know why Zen monks often spend many years in lonely contemplation. It's tough to try to resist all the good things. But I have - like Lou - made some New Years Resolutions. They are quite simple. 1. Consume less sugar and sweet products 2. Go jogging 3 times a week for at least half an hour. 3. Go to the Fitness Studio at least once a week. Now some may say, this was too little to be effective, but I know it is enough for me - I must only do it. It's easy to overburden yourself with so much, that you can only fail in the end. I wish everyone with similar resolutions a good success. And remember - it's not a must. You WANT to change something. A healthy and successfull new year everyone!
  20. OVER FLANDERS FIELDS "First Wings" OVER FLANDERS FIELDS "They took the Sky" OVER FLANDERS FIELDS "Taking the Skies" .
  21. I always KNEW tidying up is a waste of time and energy! Thank you for that, Flyby! Maybe your sub-conscious needed an early break? .
  22. Yes, OFF P4 will be a totally new OFF, with all the stuff of HitR included, plus so much more. It will be on DVD in a üpackage, as far as I know. So I'd suggest to wait for that - it can't be too long anymore. The devs had made another download possible for you, but they also gave you the sound advice to save your HitR download on an external drive or a DVD - simply because s**t always happens when you don't expect it to. I'm sorry for you - hold out 'till P4 is getting released.
  23. As Udet said himself about this tailplane motto: "Pride comes before a fall."
  24. I guess that's how you devs must be feeling very often anyway. Only that there would have to be hundreds of poking Smileys then.
  25. Wrong Smileys, Pol. Hey, Sparrowhawk, if you delay the release of P4 with this - my friends fly Gothas!!!
