Well, even the hunting boomerang comes back to you, when you miss your prey - that's the whole idea about it, I guess. You will find (and have to place) all the skins of OFF in this folder: [your sim folder] > campaigns > CampaignData > skins If you get yourself the freeware IRFANVIEW, you can even see all the 3.700 plus skins OFF provides. You get it here: http://www.irfanview.de/ . -
How do you fly campaigns? (workshop option)
Olham replied to Macklroy's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I used to be one of the most furious defenders of "fuel management". But then the devs couldn't easily solve the problem with the personalised skins. So I had to make a choice. I decided to fly with personal skin for a while, to see how it would work. And I must say, I have improved my piloting so much, that I can now get behind any craft even with full tanks. Another setting I find important to think about, is "Pilot never dies - Die roll on death - Dead is dead". I used to think, it must be "Dead is dead" for full realism and toughest job. But then I sometimes had minor accidents, which resulted in my pilot getting killed. These accidents did look stupid and not at all dangerous for my life. Also, you are getting shot up far more often in OFF that they were in RL. The choice "Die roll on death" seems now to be the more accurat one - OFF Manager will now decide, if your accident killed you or not. And it's doing that quite fair, I'd say. -
Gaw, with your res you must select 16 : 10 at the left side in "Workshops", and one of these FOV variants below. (FOV = FIELD OF VIEW; in the lower right half of "Workshops") They are all correct for your res., only the smaller numbers zoom you more in, and the higher numbers more out; personally I run 24 : 15; I have the same res.). 24 : 15 26 : 16 27 : 17

All these videos were made by HAFU, the film team of "The Vintage Aviator" - and behind all that I guess stands Peter Jackson. Enjoy to see some great and very rare aircraft in flight. There was a huge Army Training Area at St.Omer in 1918. Interesting to see, what they all had special areas for.

I understand your thoughts so well, Flyby, and I guess, there are many others here, who feel the same. The deep respect for craftmanship and handcrafted things, which work reliably. And the idea to build something yourself, to see how far you can get. Us men have that deep in us, after all our evolution, we still want to create something with our own hands - something that would make us proud. It started with weapons and tools; and it is still in us. A hovercraft may be something with a certain danger potential, so if you ever build one - why not build a smaller version first - a big test model? -

Damn, that S.E.5a in pic 2 and 3 looks good! Is it an OFF ace skin, monkey, or an own skinning job? -

Yep, small round trips may be cheaper - or prices have gone up that much. -

Yes, and many of the pilots today still do the same. I would guess, that in a wide country like Finnland there should be some pilots to ask? In my homeland Ostfriesland you can make a round flight over the Eastfreesian Islands for ca. 60,- Euro. -
I don't know what you mean, shredward? The thread "Test Pilot's Report about the German Fighter Roland D.VI" is still there. Did you zapp an older Roland D.VI thread perhaps? I had made one with some pics, but that was some time ago - not sure if I find the stuff again. Ah, sorry - you mean this link - I had sent it yesterday. Here it comes again. http://www.thomasgen...oland_d_vi.html .

Yes, those are the nice sides of it. On the other hand, hardly anyone could afford an aircraft then, I guess? Here is an announcement for a flying contest held at the openening of Johannisthal, and my attempt to translate it. The names list is the Creme de la Creme of early aviation. Under the protectorate of the Kaiserlicher Automobil-Club of the Berlin Airshipping Association of the Kaiserlicher Aero-Club Flying Contest of the first aviators of the world Berlin-Johannisthal-Adlershof from 26 September to 3 October 1909 daily from 10 (?) h until sunset Severela prizes of honour 160000 Mark cash prizes The prizes will be competet for daily (Names List) Entrance fees from 1 Mark to 15 Mark For week tickets considerable reductions Further information - especially about one-day and weekly box seats - at the booking offices A. Wertheim GmbH* and Invalidendank** * A. Wertheim GmbH was a big famous Berliner big store company ** Invalidendank (Thank the Disabled) was an assiciation which helped disabled (esp. soldiers) to get a work place / job. It was financed from collections and donations. One job was the selling of tickets in the streets. "Invalidendank" got it's share from each ticket sold. -

Indeed, Hasse Wind - it always touches me to see, how much simpler everything was handled back then. That spirit, the optimism, that innocence you see in the faces of the people. Yes, CaptSopwith, 2009 the place got 100 years old. Unfortunately there is not much left of it. The airfield Johannisthal was introduced as the first German aerodrome for motorised aircraft on 26 September 1909. -
Gaw, I almost suffer with you, old chap. But you're right, it's totally worth it. How easily do we spend the same bucks on pizza and coke. If you buy it again, zip it and make yourself a copy on another hard drive, a stick, or an external drive. I wish you good success!

I still have to laugh - sorry, guys!

Just checked, but didn't find more references for WW1 craft there, Lou. But perhaps we should search for reports by test pilot Lieutenant Moriarty?
