Brand new DM and FM now ready!
Olham replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I cannot report much yet. I have made one sortie with an Albatros D.Va (see: "Reports from the Front"); and I did not trace any noticable difference to the FM before. I had recently reported, that I was amazed by your new D.Va FM, although it seems I had only flown the OFF version, as yours was yet only for QC. If that is true, I flew the original FM then, and today I flew yours. Maybe I need to test it more (we were only as high as 10.000 feet), but as I said - couldn't trace any difference yet. But I beat those Camels - huh! PS: I will carry on during the next days. Want to try the other Albs too. -
Since I see only few pictures since a long time, I wonder, if some of you may not know how to clear some attachment space? You do it like this: 1. Click on your name bar in the forum's top right corner 2. Click on "My settings" 3. Click on "Manage attachment space" Now you should see all your attachments listed. The horizontal bar at the top of the list may be red, which means, your space is almost used up. So you should delete some of the pics. Perhaps you go to the older ones by selecting "Last" at the top. You can now tick all those boxes with pictures you are sure you want to delete. Then click on "delete" at the bottom. You can go through the list pages and repeat the proceedure. When the bar at the top turns blue, you have cleared enough, and may upload new stuff.

Museum for Traffic and Technology, Berlin, visited
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Oh yeah, I bet I could get lost in there, Shiloh! Ever been to the Smithsonian too? They have a Dornier "Pfeil", which has been completely restored in Germany and then got sent back. And an Albatros D.V. And, and, and... -
To get to a higher resolution than 2048x2048, you'd first need to have skins with more res. The CFS3 / OFF skins are all made with 2048x2048 pixels, and you cannot get more, when you push the slider higher. I guess, that this 2048x2048 res is fully used, when you set aircraft on "5", and "Aircraft skins" on "High Resolution" in "Workshops". There is not any more possible right now.

Congrats on your recue, Flyby! But there is a way to make safety backups. You need: 1. a second hard disk or an external drive 2. ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE or another backup program You need to have OFF installed on the boot partion, which is C: All savegames and other stuff that might get changed by OFF is also on C: Now you only need to backup your whole C:partition with the above prgogram. You want to back it up on another drive or the external one. This brings you a lot of safety, cause you can restore your whole Windows, if anything goes badly wrong. You'd just write back the BackUp. Same for OFF and your pilots: write it back, and everything's there again.

THE APPALING BEAUTY OF WEAPONS You often don't know many things in your town, which others make journeys for, to see them. The Museum für Verkehr und Technik in Berlin is such an example. I live in Berlin since the seventies, but had never visited it before. Yesterday, I changed that and had a first walk through with a friend and his daughter. There is so much to see - from the first boats and ships over steam engines to aviation. I frankly admit, that I got dizzy and foot-lame after 3 hours. I didn't take many pics, as it was 1. forbidden, and 2. the light in most rooms was so dim that I had to use flash light, and that doesn't look too good. But here are some pics: My headline is meant for the aircraft and the missiles, or the Parabellum - but not for the bombs or the "Fliegerpfeile", which are weapons I don't find beautiful at all - not even appaling beautiful. "Fliegerpfeile" (aviator darts) were little steel darts, which the observer/gunner could drop on the troops in the trenches. They fell with increasing speed, and they could even penetrate helmets. They would go right through the person hit - from the head through the body. A very nasty idea. In the missile section I was surprised to see several rockets and missiles I had never heard of. There hadn't only been the V1 and V2, or the Bachem "Natter" - here were also three variants of the AA missile "Rheintochter", which I had never seen before; and several other projects, like an anti-ship rocket, which was controlled via wire(!) from a Heinkel He111 per joystick (!). Read more here: http://en.wikipedia....ki/Rheintochter .

Tch! Impatient rookie! Huh! Learn your Yoga lessons, man! The Arabians say, if you sit down at the bank of a Wadi, you will see the DVD with OFF P4 floating by. Or similar... (But when? When will it???)

To Partition or Not to Partition?
Olham replied to Wayfarer's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I'm far from being a computer expert, but wouldn't it always be better to get you two hard disks? I have a smaller one, which is still partitioned into the Windows-part, and a games-part. The other harddisk is where I store my works; as well as my ACRONIS BackUps of my system. These can be written back to the C:partition, once there is a problem occuring. -

Nice video! But have you seen these? Animals can do the craziest things! -
Sounds like a joystick for lefthanders, flying with their left hand on the stick then, and operating the throttle with the right? But not every lefthander does it that way, guys. To make it even more complicated: I am left handed, but I operate the joystick with my right hand. I don't know how that came - possibly, because the throttles are mostly always on the left of the stick. Today, I wouldn't like it any other way.

Yep, I checked Wikipedia about them. No. 43 Sqdn, RFC, will receive the first, Widow - so you know where to enlist.
-
Okay, seems I'll have to prove then, that an Albatros can even shoot down Snipes. How long will Snipes be in front service before the war will end, by the way?
-
Hasse Wind, thank you for the hint! The guys have secretly added NEW SCREENSHOTS among the old. If you haven't seen the Verdun Forts, go there and see! And the Bristol Fighter seems to be half new, no? Or did I only never see, that the fuselage is free above the lower wing???

Verdun Forts??? Where??? ( - whoosh!!!)

Lou, I was trying to eat my cake with a fork, but it kept falling off from all the giggling! Well done, Sir! Hey, and as for adverts - if anyone has hardware for OFF-flying, which he wants to give away or for little money: why not write an advert? -

I was sometimes compared to James Steward. Same clunky approach to many things, and often the same sheepish expression. -

...apart from the "slowhandness", perhaps? An angler should have a quiet, patient, slow way, I guess? -
No, I will be the happiest OFFer you could imagine, old chap.

Hmmm - Never tried that, but I believe you. At the north sea coast, where I come from, we know smoked makerels, and they taste good when you eat them right after the proceedure. Then there are the smoked flank stripes of the spiny dogfish or mud shark, which we call "Schillerlocken" (Schiller's ringlets - named after poet Friedrich Schiller's hair); also very good. And smoked eels, which are good, when they are not too old. But carp? I had some good Chinese carp in a dark brown spicy sauce - that was delicious. Smoked - never seen yet. -

I don't know if the carp saw it the same way, Widow - it is so perfectly made... Will you eat the feller, or did you throw him back in? -
