Absolutely right, Creaghorn, and faster than any WW1 kite, Sir. It's your turn now! -

Okay, we should also have pics with only one or two questions, to make it easier. Here is my next picture: 1) What is the name and type no. of this fighter? 2) Name one major difference to it's predecessor 3) What are those "ear-type" things left and right of the craft's nose? -
Marveling over WingnutWing Models again

Widowmaker, did you ever try to fly on the same side with him? I'd like to know, if that also works? Jawdropping indeed, elephant! Look at those little brass fittings to attach the wires!!! -

Okay, when no one else wants to try it, I deliver a guess here: 1. DH-2 2. Lewis drums, to be mounted on top of a Lewis machine gun. They were also carried outside in a rig along the cockpit rim. 3. I guess, that it is a trim handle, to make inflight elevator trimming possible? -

Well, OFF can be played online - some gents around here have already done so. But I would prefer to fly it with someone in the same room. I used to fly IL-2 with a neighbour. We both had Bf 109 G6 and fought near the Krim. It was great fun to be able to talk to each other during flights, and to call for each other's help during air combats. We often helped each other out of dangerous situations, and then guided the friend in the damaged craft safely home. But then he moved away, and we never had even only tried to set up OFF like that. -

Hey, I still am looking for someone to fly OFF together with! In theory, it is possible to LAN connect two rigs and fire it up. But I had no one to try it with. So, if you should ever move to Berlin... But I guess, I would be your wife's top enemy then. -

Ah, you meant the pics from "Reports from the Front" - the Roland "Walfisch", Mighty? If you want to try the Enhancers, I think it's in Creaghorn's download stuff somewhere. For my taste, it makes everything too dark somehow. Today I joined 24 Squadron, RFC. We are flying Pups from La Gorgue, and I must say, that although the Albatros D.III is probably the better fighting craft, the Pup can hold it's own in climbing and turning very well. At no time did I feel in danger really - you only have to watch their wingmen as well. Those guys know how to fight in the air. I believe, I had shot one of those "peregrines" down - but I had no one near me to witness it. -
Have a look at the LVG C.VI for example - the way the Lozenge camo was overpainted with whitewash - amazing. And then the detail on the engine - it's just incredible. There are pics of models by Jim Dietz even - I bet it's the same Dietz who does those great paintings. http://www.wingnutwi.../customermodels

They are rather paintings -look at the pic with the "Billy Mitchell" bomber: those guys are not real. It could be CGI in parts, or painted. But he used real photos too. And as cadeteBRA said: it must HDR photography. That is a way to gain extreme colour contrasts.

All that was missing were the planes and hangers.
Olham replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Lou, this sounds so familiar - to come across an area, a view, in a special lighting or weather, that seems like a parallel time and space, and could in fact be somewhere else. You described it all so very well, that I can see it - and feel it. Thanks for sharing. -
Phase 4 & OFF: BHH & HITR, How will the migration work?
Olham replied to stefnuts's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Sorry, stefnuts, I don't know what tickled me yesterday... -
Thanks for the reminder, Widowmaker. I have just checked the BUNDESARCHIV about Manfred von Richthofen's death, and here's what I found. This dokument shows the note about Manfred von Richthofen's death, as it was dropped over German lines by British pilots. Also attached was this photo, showing his decorated grave. After unsuccessful efforts to gain clarification about Richthofen's fate, this news was the first confirmation of his death. Many of the ground troops behaved rather impiously immediately after von Richthofen's death and plundered the dead flyer. Not so the British aviators. Officers of the Royal Flying Corps acted as true and honorable gentlemen here.

Phase 4 & OFF: BHH & HITR, How will the migration work?
Olham replied to stefnuts's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Are you one who worries easily, stefnuts? You just got BHaH and HitR running, and you worry about P4. Why don't you climb into the cockpit and fly Over Flanders Fields? Many of us here don't have a lot of $$. The sim is anything but expensive - it will pay you back for every single penny more than you would get from any financial business. Enjoy it, now that you have it! -

Mighty, this screenshot was not made wit the "Bloom & HDR Enhancer". It paints everything rather dark. But for B&W pics, it might be interesting for the contrast. -

"What is in the Picture?" - A P4 Screenshot Quiz
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Lewie, just in case you don't know how to catch a screenshot from the link: Press "Print" on your keyboard (top right). Then open "Paint" or something like that, and press Ctrl. + V to insert the pic. Cut it down to the desired area and save it as JPEG. -

I have upgraded Mobo, CPU and memory - the graphic card is still my ATI HD4870. The first screenshots were made without changes in ATI Catalyst Control Center. I will check all AA settings and max them out today. I may leave Terrain Detail on 3, cause it gets very grainy and sharper on 4 or 5, and I like it on 3. I may be able to have more Scenery Detail now. -

Hmmm - I hadn't thought about a rule for this result we have now. Lewie, you'll present the next screenshot and ask two questions. Dej shall ask the third question to it. -

This Quiz-thread, Slarti - before anyone knew it was here, Creaghorn had "shot the questions down" so to say. Or if you asked for the new screenshots: see the link in my first post. -
"What is in the Picture?" - A P4 Screenshot Quiz
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Wow, THAT was fast! So fast, that I'm afraid, the others hadn't even noticed this new thread yet. Congrats, Creaghorn - all three points are correct, Sir - so the next turn is yours now! -
What is in the Picture? - The P4 Screenshot Quiz Just had another stroll through all the lovely new screenshots, and had this idea for a quiz. I will show excerpts from screenshots, and ask questions about them. The first person who can answer all points correctly, will take over and make the next excerpt and ask 3 questions. If the winner cannot make a new picture with his equipment, he will have to name another candidate for the next one. What do you say? To make it easier, I have here the link to the Screenshots: http://overflandersf...view/index.html Here is the first picture. The questions are: 1. What screenshot number is the excerpt taken from? 2. Which aircraft's cockpit is this? 3. What was the wooden mallet at the bottom used for? Here we go! ...

Good tip, UncleAl. I never use "cheated views" normaly, but in this case an exception could be made for screenshots. I would sure see the ground troops far better.

Yep, the Pup should behave fine normally; wonderful kite!

Thank you! I got watercooling on the CPU now. It cost 60,- Euro, but hardly makes any noise at all.
