Looks very good - but the bull would be much easier to recognise, plus more aggressively. Three sticks? My "advisor" said, I could only run 2 or 4 sticks - not impair? The values are reset to default values now.

Well, as I said, I have tested with the Windows Diagnose Tool - I didn't see through the endless README.txt with MemTest. I tested two sticks in the red slots, the the other two in the red ones too. Then the first tow in the yellow slots. Then the other two in the yellow ones. I always got an "okay". Then I have set CPU to it's default 2.83 GHz, and the memory clocked to the 1066MHz it should have. Ran fine yesterday - crashed this morning. Ran the Windows Diagnose Tool again, now with all four sticks in their slots. And this time, it said, memory was faulty. I red in a forum about this problem, that some motherboards don't run well with 4 fast sticks; but better with two ones - even if the sum up to the same. Can that be? I am already half convinced, that the best might be to get a better motherboard, CPU, and maybe also new memory. The mobo is a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3, by the way. Thank you for your patience, guys!

Wow, RedDog, what a clear sharp photograph! Excellent desktop! UncleAl, are you and Windows in a war or something? That OS seems to like to tease you at least.

Your changes are almost subtle about the forward moved center of gravitiy - very good. The Albatros had the tank behind the pilots I think, and so it should be a bit tail heavy, which it still is. That can be solved by each pilot's own trimming. The problem with the "hanging on the prop" was never so very much an Albatros problem, although even they do that, if the tail plane is very badly shot up. It was and still is more a problem for the Nieuports and Pups. Those craft seem to try to climb almost desperately, when they are low. For climbing, they would need good forward flying speed to get airflow over the wings; but they can't fly forward, cause their damaged tailplane doesn't balance the craft anymore. At least this is what I think is happening. It might perhaps work to place more damage/hit points on the elevator, and less on the rest of the tailplane. That way, the elevator can still be damaged badly, but the tailplane's lift would be less destroyable. For the Albatros I can say, you haven't changed it to any worse; and I'll report when I see a badly shot up craft, and how it behaves.

Sorry for misinterpreting you, Parky - didn't happen with any bad intention. And thanks for the explanation. I am running the INTEL Core2 Duo CPU E8300 at it's default 2,83 GHz now. The memory are four CORSAIR Dominator sticks with 1 GB each, and a speed of 1066 MHz. Do you know anything about how far my CPU could be overclocked without getting into the risky zone? System seems to be running good now, Lou; need some more time (and flying) to be really sure. Before I found the reason, it crashed quite often. But if I can overclock this CPU to a rather safe extent, why not?

For your own private use, you may take a picture of an air combat painting and make it into a desktop background. That is a private use only, and shouldn't conflict with copyrights. I just found one of those paintings in the Gallery over at "The Aerodrome" website. It is the great painting " Twilight of the Jagdfliegers" by Steve Anderson. I have a desktop of 1680 x 1050 Pixels resolution, so I brought it to the right width first. The missing space I filled with bars of a deep blue, which I gathered from the darkest parts of the sky. Also the writing is of a colour I took from the clouds. I took the freedom to correct the title to: "Twilight of the Jagdflieger" - the plural of Jagdflieger would still be Jagdflieger. Now I added two lines of the same colour, and moved the whole picture up enough, to gain the space for the desktop icons below. Here is the result: Try it yourself - it is very rewarding to have your own WW1 air combat desktop.

The Strutter feels great, if you like flying two-seaters. If you ever fly German two-seats again, Slartibartfast, I highly recommend to you the DFW C.V. She is a rather ugly appearance, but so reliable. She will carry you comfortably to highest altitudes. You will find only one rather disturbing thing - an engine block in front of you - but that crate climbs away from Nieuports with strength and good speed; she is easy to fly and to land; and I even made aerial victories in the kite. And that hot engine block may even keep your nose warm in winter. But I assume, the real reason you went back to the left side of the line, was to have baked beans, toast and scrambled eggs with bacon for breakfast. I understand that. It could almost make me change sides.

That's why I often start a new pilot beginning of May - the weather is just better then. But if you want to fly the Halberstadt D.III or the albatros D.II, you can only fly in late 1916/early 1917. I wish you sunny breaks!

The only problem with that is..........I'm never alone. Well, for some it is a problem that they are always alone. We never have it perfect. What about agreed flying time with your family - you use headphones, and they don't sneak in to shock you? Just an idea.

I did not do that, von Paulus - it switched over. After restoring the friend's overclocking to 3 GHz, my memory showed a value of only 800 MHz, instead of it's 1066 MHz. Now I needed to find the right multipl. factor to get to 1066 MHz. It was the factor 2.0, and when I clicked that, the right value of 1066 MHz was shown for the memory. AND: the CPU value switched automatcally to it's default value 2,83 GHz. I could go back to 3 GHz for the CPU, and then try all multipl.factors for the memory, to try to get it closest to 1066 MHZ. But I'm not sure, if I should do that. Parky recently said, that even a 2,33 GHz CPU was not too weak for OFF. What do you think?

Not flown OFF for months??? That would be like flying to the moon without oxygen supply - how did you survive that???? Jasta 11 is a perfect choice for re-entry, Jarhead. I also just began flying with them. I hadn't been flying with them so much, and so I realise now, how different the "poor", "average", "good" and "elite" units are really programed. I just wrote it in "Reports from the Front" - an elite unit like Jasta 11 is flying perfectly following Dicta Boelcke. They won't give up altitude, they keep fighting helping each other. They will care for you like Marines. Well, they may sometimes take your kills away. But they are of great assistance, and so far, we have always returned almost complete. Yesterday, I had only one man putting his craft down damaged, out of 7 wingmen I had! And we had fought Brisfits! If I may give you an advice, that a Marine should understand perfectly well: Don't go for your kill collection! Fly for the unit; merge with the unit; just be there and try to do all the right things; forget claims! You may survive for a longer time that way, and if so, the kill tally will grow anyway - even without forcing it.

Now I think I REALLY got it right. When changing the multiplication factor for the memory sticks so, that they showed the right value of 1066 MHz, the value of the CPU changed to it's default value of 2,83 GHz. Both values are correct now, and I think I better leave it that way.
