Von Paulus, I think we found the problem now. A friend of mine had assembled the rig, and he had overclocked the CPU from 2,83 GHz to 3 GHz. He had also adjusted the multiplicator for the memory according to this. Now, I had recently decided for myself, to switch back to 2,83 GHz - but I hadn't known, that I would have to re-adjust the multiplicator for the memory too. Right now, we have gone back to 3 GHz, which made the memory show a value of 800 in BIOS. But their label says, they are 1066 MHz. Do I need to adjust the multiplicator so now, that the second number shows the right value (1066 MHz) or somewhere close to it?

Flying with Jasta 11 was fine again today - they are so reliable wingmen. NE of Arras, we wiped out a flight of BE2c. Then we sighted Nieuport 24 and followed them over the line. We shot at least 3 of the 4 craft down near N of Arras, and near Etrun airfield. Later we spotted more French silvergrey fighters, and I shot down a second Nieuport 24. This kill was actually stolen - the Nupe was already smoking, and there was a guy from Jasta 28w also after it. After landing, I rolled into the tent just for fun, and the 1. Kette performed an almost great landing. Exception: the 2. and 3. craft collided and blew up. -
...at the present I am attempting to learn Deutsch Austrian Style along with the food the schanpps the wine... the ladies... Good combination to learn Austrian (which I find very hard to imitate); the Schnaps may help to twist the toung enough, and the ladies make it all worth it.

You're right there, Slart, as long as we don't have Kasta in OFF, the Roland seem to share the job. Sorry, didn't want to be teaching.

I am flying in a Bomber Jasta down near the Swiss border... Slarti, a "Jasta" is a "Jagdstaffel" - directly translated: a hunting squadron; so a Jasta is fighters only. You would be in an FA (Feldflieger-Abteilung). Maybe in P4, we will also get Kasta - Kampfstaffel, which also do bombing (sorry, couldn't stop myself). Lou must know the "Walfisch" well by now, so his advice must work. I also flew the crate several times, and I prefered to come in with full throttle (like I also do with the SPAD), very shallow, and fully reduce throttle only at touch down. Try what works best for you. When you fly with TrackIR: a "trick" I use (it's like Lou's lifting off the chair a bit) is to duck in my seat, press the "center view" command, and then sit straight again. That way I can look over the top wing quite well.

Hahaha - for Liberty of Sound! I will try that out!

No, I used the diagnose tool of Windows Vista. I did it like this: 1. sticks A and B in the red banks - result: okay 2. sticks C and D in the red banks - result: okay 3. sticks A and B in the yellow banks - result: okay 4. sticks C and D in the yellow banks - result: okay Yes, from 2,88 to 3,12 GHz (more or less; don't know the exact numbers) What do you mean? All cables are brandnew, because my first step was to replace the power supply unit last week. I now have installed a Cooler Master 600 W. I also ran disk doctor and made a check on both hard disks.

Damn!!!! The rig crashed down again! Looks like something with the motherboard then, I suppose. Now I'm thinking of investing 350,- Euro for a new motherboard, CPU and memory. Whenever you think you could save some money, something will happen to draw it out of you again.

Wayfarer, we are allowed to dream. And one day, we may see all the missing planes in the skies - the devs must be the first who want that. You would get on very well with Hasse Wind - although he flies German side right now, he is a total two-seater fan. An Aviatik, eyh? Wasn't requested yet, as far as I know. We all have our little dreams - may they all come true one day.

Guys, I have done several tests now, to really make sure, what the situation is. Everything is said to be okay! (What a relief!) It seems the problem was caused by the Arctic Freezer Cooler attached on the alloy rib passive cooler of the CPU. My memory sticks have very high cooling ribs attached, and the Arctic Freezer's fan protector pressed slightly against the first stick's cooling ribs. I have changed that now, and all tests after that went well. Thanks again for all your help!

??? Can't see a picture? -
Yes, welcome to OFF-Forum, Thomas! Are you flying OFF already? In that case: could you send me a PM with your town & country? I will add you to our OFF Forum Pilots Map then.

Thanks for all info - so I understand, I can test 1 stick at the time. That makes it a safe method. Thanks a lot, von Paulus and Typhoon.
-
Downloaded your DM, Herr Prop-Wasche, and will test it as soon as possible. Right now, I have broken memory and need to find out first, which of the four sticks it is. Hope I will still find time for flying today. If your method works well, you should concentrate this tailplane correction thing on Nieuports and Pups - I think those are the craft, that react most badly, when their tail end lost lift. They often tend to hang on the prop, until they crash, tail first.

WWI Vintage Air War Paintings

Not sure if it's an early original, but after the name Bertram Sandy, it seems to say "1918" or "1919". -
Ooops - sorry, missed that somehow, von Paulus. I have the proof now anyway. Windows advised me to check the memory with it's own test, and now I know, that at least one of the sticks is broken. I have 4 sticks CORSAIR DOMINATOR with 1 GB each. The name sounded invincible - but they weren't. Now I need to find out, which of the 4 is broken???
-
Widowmaker, did you solve the problems on your rig? Mine is still crashing sometimes. Checked all cable contacts - nothing. I wonder, if a rig would crash often, when some of the memory is broken? The sim only freezes during long flights, and when I tried to move three files with together more than 3 GB to another folder at once, the system totally crashed. Any way to check the memory sticks?

Paul Blum's Story: A BHaH Pilot's Saga
Olham replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Lou, the story is getting better and better. Paul Blum is a really good comrade. I would have wished to have a flight leader like him. -
RAF_Hawkeye, you could be right, my old eyes see the same!
-
Slartibartfast, do you have "Wind" switched on in "Workshop" - that could make it difficult. Also, when you fly an early, 1-gun German craft, it may take longer to destroy a craft. Best way is to go really close (without colliding). You'll get back there - don't give up.
-
Man, I feel with you! What card did you get? I am also searching for the "troublemaker" in my system. My system every now and then just drops out. Sometimes it's only OFF freezing, with the sound as an endless loop. Then I can still get out of it via Task Manager. But sometimes, my system has a total crash (In OFF, in Photoshop, in the internet). I have bought a 90,- Euro mains power supply with 600 W - it still happens. Now a friend said, I should download a program for checking the DDR Ram memory. I'll do that tomorrow, when I have the time.

You are the weakest link!
Olham replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
It can be a broken DDR-Ram or a cable loose. I recently got those crashes to desktop too. I got warnings from Photoshop, saying that a cable might be loose, or the DDR-Ram partly broken or the harddrive partly damaged - it wouldn't always save my works correct. -

HPW: ...the main frustration is the drops to desktop. I'll be going along fine, with fps in the low 30's, when the game just stops and sends me back to the OFF manager. Seems to happen particularly after a long flight followed by a furball. Short flights or those without furballs seem to go better. I have that too, but rather only recently - I wonder what it is? I will try to remember to go complete offline (unplug from Modem), and then switch off Anti-Virus Prptection. Perhaps that may help. -

Your CPU is a bit slow. I had the sim running fine on these system specs: ATI RADEON 1950 Graphic Card Intel Dual Core CPU with 2,88 GHz, clocked up to 3,2 GHz I could run it with settings 5, 3, 2, 4, 3 I think, the CPU is the weak spot. -
Just found another detail: the Albatros' radiator filling top part is added. When they come up with all these nice things, while they must still be miles away from even mentioning a release date, I wonder what else they are compiling and developing in their "craft cookers' cuisines".
