  1. Robert, that Camel skin is looking great indeed!
  2. Yep, exactly. "Scenery" could be tried on 3, 4 or 5 depending on performance. "Terrain" is very grainy on 5; 4 or 3 are worth a try. I found 5, 3, 4, 5, 5 perfect for myself.
  3. Isn't it wonderful to be able to have all the detail stutterfree, Robert? Congrats to your new 7870 - I have the same from GIGABYTE, and it's great! Only thing I've set differently is "Terrain detail" - it is very grainy on "5" and that made it appear too close for my taste. I have it on "3" only.
  4. No, you didn't - but it makes sense!
  5. Great to hear, Capt! Did I make a D.III skin too?
  6. Definitely! Aerhhm... do you have your own supply waggon?
  7. Long distance runners used dried prunes/plums before Gatorade for electrolytes. Maybe that's more historically correct?
  8. Guys, I'd love to be there and see it all. Shiloh, I hope you will prepare well and carry enough isotonic drinks - or at least water with some salt in?
  9. The note at the forum head is gone; seems the maintainance is through, Erik? Thank you for keeping up the defense lines.
  10. If you want to compare the results, just check my screenshots. "Vertical refresh" is "always on" to avoid the white jaggies/tearing edges left and right during rapid head movements using TrackIR. Works well for me.
  11. Yes, for OFF it is absolutely recommended to let the graphic card run the graphics. In my ATI Catalyst Control Center I have Anti-Aliasing on 8x, and Anisotropic Filtering on 4x, and Supersampling selected. Wait for vertical refresh = always on
  12. Yeah, I also only found it later - I must still learn about the whole use of this place.
  13. I guess you meant IRFANVIEW - a great program also for browsing through all the skins in the sim! A great, and even free program.
  14. Hi, Erik I only just read your announcement about the short-notice maintenance closure now, after it happened. But I guess it is always safer and better to act quick, when such attacks happen - even when some may feel annoyed for not getting in. Yesterday when I couldn't get in all day, I had this paranoid vision that "CombatAce" was made unavailable here in Germany by the cyber branch of the president's shielding guard - your president is in Berlin - and only because it had the word "combat" in it's name. Now I know, I was only paranoid. But it is only just the normal paranoia everyone has in this universe. Free interpretation of Douglas Adams. Good luck and success for the work still to be done, Erik!
  15. Made these two maps today by screen-printing a zoomed-in WW1 map bit by bit. I like it because it has the names of all the rivers, and the railway lines of that time. Useful only for overview or long range missions, I guess. Here they are anyway:
  16. Robert, Vert Galand lay far behind the lines most of the time. But when the Germans made their last big offensive advance (Operation Michael) in spring 1918, they got a lot closer to Amiens and Vert Galand. I guess this trench system (pencil writing says "FOURTH SYSTEM") could have been a security measure the British had installed just in case. I guess it was never needed for defense. See, how far the offensive bulge went: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spring_Offensive
  17. Well, it is perhaps a too large scale? There are maps with more detailed, closer scales. This one is just perfect for knowing all the river names and railway lines IMHO. But maybe it can give you a rough overview even for flying.
  18. Here is a map showing the trench systems around Vert Galand (the name is written with a "d" at the end in the historical maps); and a triple supply rail north of the aerodrome. The map was from early 1918.
  19. Just went through the great collection of maps again at the Canadian McMaster University. I found this overview map of the northern part of the Western Front area. The map shows all the names of all the smaller rivers and canals, and the railway lines. Very interesting for research - enjoy! http://lt1.mcmaster.ca/ww1/wrz4mp.php?grid=57d&map_id=21&view
  20. Thank you, Robert! Shiloh, I guess there would be an outcry of anger, if the community would declare the battle site of Gettysburg for building ground?
  21. Pixels??? I guess that won't work - too small, or not? But feel free to use my airfield graphics in OFFbase, if you can use them.
  22. Being a Vulcan partly or completely cannot be that bad. Spock didn't get irritated emotionally, but he was a true friend and always helpful.
  23. Yes, very bad, sinister ones! A deep shame overcomes me each time I hear of such atrocities done bei German troops. I wasn't even born then, but they are/were some of "my" people. Not barbaric Huns from Beyond-Mongolia. Not aliens from outer space - my own people. Thinking about it makes a thick knot in my throat - every time.
  24. Well, you could and maybe should do both. Paris is a special city with some great places to visit and enjoy. I wonder if I will ever get to make my train/bicycle tour to visit some German and Entente airfields in Belgium and France. But when I do, I'll make sure to also visit some villages to find good restaurants and interesting places.
  25. No, I haven't, but just enter "Amiens", and follow the N25 north beyond Villers-Bocage to the crossing N25 - D117/D31. Do you know how I can receive the coordinates from GoogleMaps? Ah, found it out! Here comes: 50.070803,2.321348
