  1. I see what you mean - could be that the author made a mistake there? This would be a question for our historians. Cause here is an exchange between Frontflieger and Freese (who seems to have quite some knowledge too), and Freese keeps writing "Afla": http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/2001/11882-preiss-winter-died-sept-14-1915-a.html
  2. Scram, you lucky man - only 8 days?!?!? As for "HitR": the improved AI alone is worth getting it, and then you also get several new planes - all that for a low price if you consider, that you must buy each new plane seperately in 'another sim'. I guess in English you'd call it a "must-have bargain". And since it comes per download, you can add it quickly - no need to wait another 8 days.
  3. According to the WIKI-site "Deutsche Luftstreitkräfte" the shortage for "Artillerie-Fliegerabteilung" was "AFlA" (where the third letter is not a capital "I" but a small "L". For all who are interested in the Deutsche Luftstreitkräfte, and who can understand enough German: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luftstreitkr%C3%A4fte_%28Deutsches_Kaiserreich%29#Abk.C3.BCrzungen
  4. My pleasure, MW! As for the Palestine mod, I think Lou built it himself; maybe you would find it among Lou's stuff in "Downloads".
  5. MudWasp, make sure you watch it directly from YouTube. Just click on the YouTube logo below the video frame, pause it and close the forum. Maybe that will give you better resources.
  6. I agree with Lou here about the Alsace - the region is most beautiful for just flying around! It is ideal for beginners too, because other than Flanders it is not the "hot spot" of air fighting. This beginner could slowly move further north with growing experience. Ernst Udet took that way more or less. He started with KEK Habsheim (KEK = Kampfeinsitzer-Kommando = single seat fighter command), changed to FFA 68 Ensisheim (FFA = Feldfliegerabteilung = field flyer detachment) - both down in Alsace, near the Rhine river. FFA 68 became Jasta 15, with which Udet went further north, to La Selve in the Marne region, which is also quite beautiful, and still not the same "meat grinder" as Flanders. In OFF Udet is with FFA 68 from the beginning, because they are neighbouring units. Another nice Staffel is Jasta 32, which begins in Morchingen in northern Alsace, and later moves to the Verdun sector, before they go north to the Marne region. I'm sure Lou could recommend some units for the Entente side in Alsace.
  7. "Vott? Vott is dangling here? I doo nott unerstand der Englishmen ant Americanz!?!?"
  8. I guess we should start a "hardware thread" - this stuff is soooooo off topic...
  9. Hihihi - no, I don't mind at all - saves me some time. I'll give your's a try too.
  10. Well, I think 32 GB of memory is total overkill - I am running with 4 GB. CPU: Intel i5 2500k @ 3.30 GHz Graphic card: GIGABYTE AMD RADEON HD7870 (2 GB GDDR5) overclocked to 1100 MHz Bootdrive & programs: SAMSUNG SOLID STATE DRIVE (SSD) 830 Series (128 GB - SATA 6GB/s)
  11. Guys, I wish you the money coming in for building a new rig. I really saved for it, but now it is done.
  12. Yep, let's hope it can be changed.
  13. Okay, if we tramp, I may be able to afford it - I come with you, gents! Oh,errh - wait - can one tramp with ships? must we stand on some wet rock outside a harbour, until a leaving ship will take us up? I feel too old for that sort of thing... Lou, I just realise you got rid of Mr.Greasesmile - your new avatar looks great from an artist's point of view! Well chosen, Sir! Who painted it?
  14. Don't want to spoil your joy for this great capture, Shiloh (never seen this very moment so clear before); but I think the Albatros engines hardly ever exploded out of the airframe like that. In OFF they often do; like also the rotaries of some planes. I hope they get rid of that for WOFF.
  15. Had to look that up - "diapers" - Mmuahahahahahahaaaa!!!! My current system has a Windows Check Performance Value of 7,5 - which should be quite good overall (I think the max value is 7,9). I guess that should be quite sufficient for WOFF.
  16. Yes, someone else posted it only recently. It seems to come up every few years, and the speculation is also not new. But I guess we will never know for sure what happened.
  17. Not to forget his huge car he was renovating. And then he is of Italian origin - I guess he spends a lot of time with eating great Italian food?
  18. Ah, the drinks! Okay, I'd like to try something new: I'll have a Flanders Red Ale.
  19. Medicine has to be bitter - Mmuahahahahahaaa!!!!
  20. Here are two of Kermit's "KermiCam" videos from the Albatros cockpit:
  21. As for CFS3 - make sure you update it as per advice on the OBD website, before you install. Reading their install advices is a must to save time and worries later. Good luck!
  22. Welcome over Flanders Fields, scram! Since you added your location under your name, I feel free to add you to our "OFF Forum Pilots Maps", which you can find above, in the "Sticky Threads". Not sure, how many people are currently flying the sim, but I am pretty sure that the whole community is waiting for the follow-up sim "Wings Over Flanders Fields". But to build that with a rather small team, and test it and solve all possible and impossible problems may still take a while, so I think you have made a good decision by getting OFF and getting into it. I'd even suggest you also get the "Hat in the Ring!" add-on because with that the AI was again improved and the sim was kind of upgraded even more. Also, I recommend to closely read and follow all install tips as shown in the FAQs on their website - see here: http://overflandersfields.com/FAQ.htm That will save you time and eventual problems. I wish you at least half as much pleasure and thrills as the sim gave me, and you should be fine! Have fun!
  23. Robert, that's true for war times as for peace - you best keep on your toes and be prepared for the unexpected. But hey - I never pepper backyards or any other ground targets. Getting me into your gun sight is not a thing on MY list, but if it should happen don't hesitate. Maybe you could shoot my tail feathers off, but I'm mostly over own grounds and could attempt a safe landing. I'd be grateful though, if you would please not shoot holes into my warm leather jacket - it cost me a fortune! We had some similar stories like yours during the last years, that people immersed a bit too deep with OFF. Maybe you should request a leave from the Major - 14 days back home should do you good.
  24. This one is almost like an artistic pencil drawing - nice effect. I see you're enjoying it, Shiloh!
  25. I would say, that the S.E.5a was rather superiour to the Albatros - at least in speed and climb. But thanks for regarding me as being superiour to Albert Ball (which I also think is hyperbole).
