  1. January is definitely too long. How could they make the month after Xmas 31 days long?!? The money is out since Xmas, the winter grey seems even worse, and everyone is either still Xhausted, or out jogging the weight off. Only the devs have their warm little rooms, in which they sit over WOFF and forget the rest of the world. Or so it seems...
  2. I always only make my own insignia, Widow. Here is one site which I like. Not very obvious to use, but when get to the planes you will find quite a few there. http://wp.scn.ru/
  3. You mean something like this? http://www.flightjacket.com/a2-jacket.html
  4. Lou, that new desktop looks top notch, Sir - you could work as a graphic designer or web artist instead of all your driving through Dakota. And 12 pounds is also very good! I also have started slimming again after Xmas and New Year, and I was surprised yesterday: I have a black waistcoat since years, which I couldn't button up anymore since a long time - and yesterday I found I could! Isn't it great, how modest we get with age?
  5. It's a mad world, isn't it?
  6. However - this is a lovingly made ode to a beautiful - even sexy - and decisive aircraft. It also honours the men who faced the iron storm, and successfully defended their homefires. I had a knot in my throat, when one senior fighter pilot veteran first talked about the German air force as the "Teutonic Monster" (which I found quite understandable from his point of view) but then also showed so much compassion for the young fellers who bailed out from their aircraft with parachutes often failing to open, or getting entangled with the tail plane. It is a lot of fun to "play" this in air combat sims - but I guess no one of us can fully imagine how the real thing was. At least I can't. And maybe the senior fighter pilots often wonder themselves, how they could ever manage to achieve all this, and live.
  7. SPITFIRE ACE shows 4 pilots of nowadays, competing for flying the real Spitfire. They go through a WW2 education, beginning on the Tiger Moth. Great stuff! SPITFIRE ACE - Parts Three and Four
  8. Really? Funny, but my sixth sense tells me, that many of the American senators smoke them. Or do you believe they didn't have the finest whiskeys even during the prohibition? Lou, you were the right man to answer this (Dej too, I suppose) - me, I actually know so little yet - without the world wide web I would be totally lost.
  9. Looks like a Halberstadt to me. Naw, forget it - the rudder fin is too straight.
  10. Well, the Russian Tsar and Kaiser Wilhelm were relatives, as far as I know? At least did they call each other "Willy" and "Nicky". So, before the war broke out, they had rather good relationships. The Maybach engines must have been bought before the war, I guess. PS/Edit: Nikolaus was a Cousin to King George, and a Cousin (by mariage) to Kaiser Wilhelm II.
  11. No idea really. The models show several guns/cannon per side-tower, which look like water-cooled MGs. Did you know it had German Maybach engines?
  12. German Wikipedia has it - see top right frame: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zar_%28Panzerkampfwagen%29
  13. Warping seems to mess up the fuel measuring. I only have experience with the effects of fuel weight. I used to put only 50% or even 30% fuel into my Albatros, and it felt and performed that much lighter and better.
  14. When it comes to designing weapons, the male brain drives strange blossoms ometimes.
  15. Seems always the same - the "David model" is smaller, cheaper and therefor more effective than the "Goliath type". The Russian Flying Fortress (if it was really planned) would have made a big impact - but only on it's own crash. http://englishrussia.com/2009/01/25/russian-flying-fortresses/
  16. If you google for Lebedenko Tank or Tsar Tank, you get many pics and pages. It look impressive. But wouldn't the huge wheels limit the main gun a lot?
  17. Nice to see you, "ghost flyer".
  18. The Pfalz has a spinner. But the prop is pretty much forward within it. There is not much more spinner in front of the prop. If they had painted the spinner in a different colour, you'd see it better.
  19. Holy Moly - that was some tough timing. Great old bird!
  20. Pol posted a couple of new screenshots at SimHQ - the Pfalz looks like a new plane to me, much more realistic, and even beautiful. Have a look yourself: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3717909/Re_WOFF_NEW_DEV_SCREENSHOTS#Post3717909
  21. The left pic looks like James Bond should be looking after some of his his hairraising stunts (but he always only has minor bruises). But I must say, this went well very quickly, Tony - congrats!
  22. Guys, I had to put something right: the McMaster University is in Ontario, Canada (not in California) - I had misread the CA for California. Thanks for the correction, Tony.
  23. Yep, I found several wrong locations too. I guess Shredward has gone deeper into it for WOFF, to fix those. I know he is aware of them.
  24. You'd be surprised, how the lakes in the landscapes really match the RL maps, kaa. Especially in Alsace, you can recognise the lakes by their shapes, and find home with their help. I have paused many times, and noted the ingame map coordinates. Then I typed them into Google Maps, and they fitted really well!
