Lothar, I never was the man for activating additional mods and stuff - all the things you must remember - but since WOFF may still have some miles to go 'till it's finished, I guess your OFFbase-bundle should be the right package to add some new flavours to our great sim. As far as I remember, Creaghorn had also made a set of news for the German side?

You are not alone, Cavaliere - hundreds of OFFers are your comrades! :pilotfly: :pilotfly: :pilotfly: :pilotfly:

Lothar, you know that I don't use OFFbase yet, but I can see from your latest posts here, that you must have built something great there. And when my school is over next year, and WOFF still not in nearer sight, I may join the OFFbase users. Right now, I keep everything as basic as can be - my time and energy are too limited for learning and exploring anything new. I just don't have any power and not even interest left for anything beyond the basic things which do already work as I know they should. So I haven't voted, as my point doesn't seem to be among the selections. Thumbs up for your OFFbase; the recently added maps make it even more attractive. Together with Blechtley's data and Herr Prop-Wasche's FM and DM it should be a great package for everyone who is not just as damn tired and slain as I am.

There's an extra Star in the Heavens tonight
Olham replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
As a German with not much interest in astronomy I didn't know Sir Patrick Moore and his program "Stars at Night". So I looked into YouTube and found this video. For all who also didn't know him, and for all who liked his work, and himself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VprxhEq_YDE He seems to have been a truely original character; interesting, humourful - in two words: very British! May he now travel between the stars. Rest in peace, Sir Moore. -
A lazy Hour at the Hood WW1 Aerodrome While the people appear like marginal ants in this time lapse video, the aircraft have something majestic, I find. Note how the wing movements of the Quirk and the FE2 caused by the wind - the Fee almost seems to crave for some flying. http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=uIEWw8vdVHI&feature=endscreen

The website "Buddecke" has added new photos, mostly of the 'Reihenbildzug 4' (unit which made long lines of aerial photos, which were later put together to one large picture). This observer/photographer is wearing a "Muff" (don't know the English word); a tube of cloth, wool or fur, to put your hands into from both sides to keep them warm. I'd like to remmoned this site again - lots of interesting stuff. http://www.buddecke.de/neu.htm

Thank you all! I have made some improvements and uploaded the new picture. Mainly I have removed some of the structure of the background as far as I could. I'm glad that some of you like it - the Tripe is a great aircraft.

The Sopwith Triplane photos on "The Vintage Aviator" website 'inspired' me to fake an old WW1 aerial photo, as if an observer had made a photo of the "Black Maria" over Flanders. I didn't want to use the original New Zealand landscape, and so I knocked it out. I also removed the silly two-yard-long white scarf (I wished they would drop that!), gave the pilot some more face protection, added a French farmlandscape, and this is what I got. I know it could be made far bigger and better, but I wanted a quick result. Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Coma? Autumn Avolition? Hibernation?
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Oh dear! So you did the new install? Everything back at "normal"? -
Thanksgiving Coma? Autumn Avolition? Hibernation?
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Duke, you cannot simply save the pilot folders; there's more to it. But often you do not need to de- and re-install. Often the buttons "Reset OFF Manager" and maybe also "Reset CFS3" will give you a "new" OFF. But: you will loose your campaign pilots that way too. -
Okay, I think I have halfways understood this in theory. Basically, it seems to mean that some seemingly 'correct' width:height ratio settings would still distort the perspective view more than other 'correct' width:height ratio setups? Now I'd still like to see the 3 best (least distorting) choices for my 1680:1050 screen (as I said, I don't have EXCEL and can't use your calculator).

Rail yard attacks and use of loadouts

No idea what's wrong there, rjw??? 77Scout, he did have the railyard assigned. -
Rail yard attacks and use of loadouts
Olham replied to rjw's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well, Lothar said "after your attack..." - maybe you need to bomb the place first? -
Well, maybe it's beyond my understanding - after all I came to the same numbers as you, didn't I? For my monitor (1680 x 1050) I use a FoV of 24:15.

Rail yard attacks and use of loadouts
Olham replied to rjw's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
As far as I know, you must possibly press "A" for each flyer. At least with my settings, when I want my flight to attack mid air targets, I must do so. You can watch that. Press "A" only twice, and two men will go. Press it again once, and the next one will attack. During my ground attacks (which I do very rarely) they did attack. As for the bomb load I do not know - the Albatros doe never carry bombs. -
Lothar, please see my answer in the other thread and see, that my calculations are not uncorrect. Please stop repeating this.

OFF with Richer more Vibrant Colors
Olham replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Lothar, I'm sorry I had made a typo - it must be 1680 : 1050. I have made my calculations again with my own formula (see the other thread), and I get the same results as you have with your method. So my way wasn't wrong. But it's nevertheless great for those insecure in calculating maths themselves, to have your EXCEL calculator. -
Sorry, Lothar, but wether I use your numbers or calculate them in my way - the result remains the same for my resolution. (I had made a typo for my own monitor - my res is 1680 x 1050 - sorry for that) Here is my simple formula for verticals 19, 17, 15 and 14: 1050 : 19 = 55,263 1680 : 55,263 = 30,4 Rounded result: 30 : 19 1050 : 17 = 61,765 1680 : 61,765 = 27,19 Rounded result: 27 : 17 1050 : 15 = 70 1680 : 70 = 24 Result: 24 : 15 (clean - not rounded) 1050 : 14 = 75 1680 : 75 = 22,4 Rounded result: 22 : 14 But it's great anyway, that you have made a calculator for all those who are unsure about maths. (...and have EXCEL)

OFF with Richer more Vibrant Colors
Olham replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You have made an interactive calculator? Does it work even if I don't have Excel? (Just in case it doesn't: my res is 1980 x 1050 pixels. I'm really bad at math - perhaps you can calculate me two or three FoV with vertical 15 or 16 among them?) -
OFF with Richer more Vibrant Colors
Olham replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
With "normal" I mean "normal objective" (for cameras). Wide angle lenses distort the view badly. My FoV settings are just for zooming more in or out - without distortion. Works fine for me. -
OFF with Richer more Vibrant Colors
Olham replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
This Wikipedia FoV formula seems to go from wide-angle lense to tele-lense rather. If you want a "normal" relationship of width to height, just follow my simpler formula. (See previous side).
