Reading your obituary for Karel Dooms (and a visit to his site) made me aware again, how much I must have missed by missing "Red Baron 3D" and it's whole community. But I am glad that he inspired quite a few good men to continue the idea. Looking at his great models with admirance and respect, I realise that the OBD Team are worthy successors of the works he had begun. In the same dedicated and tireless spirit they carry the torch further. Rest in peace, 'Charles de Thielt', and thank you for starting it all. Thank you for making him visible to me, CaptSopwith. .

Captain, that sounds like you had to deal with misfortunes others may only see spread over several years. Sorry for that, man - but I feel you will overcome it soon. Drinks are an unhealthy way to punish yourself, and don't give me that they relax - they may do for a short time, but then they wreck everything else. And I know what I'm talking about. OFF flying in a single player offline campaign sounds so much better for the free hours. I have been flying "another sim" online a lot lately, but I experienced that this often rather caused more stress on top of my daily one. Forget about love for a while; then it may come back to you naturally one day. Hold out, until WOFF will appear like the Silver Surfer, to save you - I bet the forum will florish like spring then.

Ah, I see - you added the date now. Simon, I bet you miss him a lot. But you can perhaps find some comfort in the fact, that he fought the Nazis at the hazard of his own life. And he went much farther there than the average soldier mostly did. And I want to make the clear statement as a German here, that he helped to fight down and to release Europe, and Germany, from the brown fashist regime. I am very grateful for that. Did your dad die on this date of today, Widow? When I see reports about such men, who went deep into enemy heartland more or less alone, to strike on the infrastructure, or to eliminate single important enemy persona, then I am full of respect and admiration for their courage and determination. I doubt I would have had such courage. Hats off to those men! They often enough saved the lives of hundreds of soldiers with their actions.

rjw, now that you have a great graphic card, you should use it correct. The rigging wires in your photos show, that you don't use a good Anti-Aliasing. When you right-click on your desktop, you will get a menue with the Catalyst Control Center. There go to 3D applications/games, and pick the highest settings for everything - the card should perform it all.

Cologne is funny in some ways (well, it was once or twice occupied by the French...). They drink "Kölsch" as their favourite beer. They only serve it in those small "Kölsch" glasses - not much more than a cup. You cannot order a large one - it must be served in these glasses. But: you can order 1 metre of "Kölsch"! Then they serve a one metre long, narrow tray with 11 glasses of "Kölsch"! And indeed - if you order "halve hahn", you get a cheese-filled roll. Not only you - every other German but a Colognian would expect a grilled half chicken.

This is a good step forward, and it even gives you a new OFF, while you wait. That's great, isn't it? Please report about the 7870 - I'm thinking of getting that card too.

The best ones are in my homeland Ostfriesland, when there is a Thanksgiving or Christmas fair. All my people in my hometown know, which of the waggons is baking the best and most delicious "Berliner": "Hinrichs, Buttforde"! You must buy them freshly baked, and warm they are simply the best. Forget "Dunkin' Donuts" - come to Ostfriesland!
