  1. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy reading it. It's written in an easy style, almost like a novel. And it's not bias at all. That's a great quality for writing history books. I didn't knew the author, so I didn't know what to expect. I was pleased to see the kind of bibliography he used to write the book. Original sources and memoirs from all sides are abundant. I've read many books about WWI, in fact I think I can say that have a pretty good WWI book collection. This one is undoubtedly one of the best and probably should be one of the firsts to be read in first place. IMO it just gives you the right perspective to start. I hope you can find it Olham, because it's out of print. The digital version is more easy to find I think.
  2. Even though, I'm sure that the grounds for negotiation were different after and before the drop.
  3. One of the best books I've ever read about the subject is "Lions of July: Prelude to War, 1914" by William Jannen Jr. I cannot stop praising this book because it really helped me in giving a fresh new perspective about the why; by describing the events in the month before the beginning, William Jannen masterfully recreates the casus belli of all sides. How can the fear of loosing a superpower status induce a conflict. A good reflection.
  4. This sounds like cold equations, but I've wonder what would happen if the Americans didn't drop the bomb at all. "Thanks" to Hiroshima and Nagasaki we all knew what nuclear armament meant. All society became aware of it's dangerous use. IMO, that was one of the reasons why MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction) and all the deterrence strategies worked during the Cold War. This is pure speculation, but the drop of the bomb may not only helped shortening the war, but helped also avoiding a greater catastrophe.
  5. Even if in a certain way the lost generation is a myth, nonetheless, too many people died at both sides. So many lost artists, politicians, scientists...... I wonder how the world would be with them alive. They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
  6. Sure, But check if it is running as administrator; it might seems that's ok, but it will blow up most certainly in any time, without it.
  7. TB, don't forget to set admin privileges in offmanager.exe and cfs3.exe. Without it OFF will crash in Vista and Win7. http://overflandersf...#Vista_Specific Here a little FAQ, written by uncleal, shows how to install OFF.
  8. I've been following Diaspora (Galactica mod for Freespace) for a year and unfortunately there's no beta yet. But it's looking good.
  9. Actually I've seen people breaking down with less. For the sake of UK's sanity I ask the devs to attend his request of a Snipe.
  10. If you set the same preferences as you've in catalyst control center, there will be no performance improving. I suppose you've tuned already your CCC, so.... I'm afraid that with old AGP's, there's nothing that can improve. It's a question of power performance. This tool is essential for people who plays more than one game (and uses different 3D profiles) or people who has crossfire; eventually, it might be also interesting, for people that use an affinity CPU and a D3D overrider tool.
  11. So far it's working well. I've different 3D profiles for different games. With this tool I don't have to worry to change to the right profile, because it will do it automatically as soon as I launch the game.
  12. Yes Olham, it's the new IL2, a WWII simulator.
  13. RadeonPro is an utility for ATI cards that permits, among other things, to create 3D setting profiles for your games. Other interesting features, like CPU affinity and D3D triple buffering may be useful for some people. It's in beta stage. http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=322031
  14. Financial pressure dictates that has to be release this year, even if it isn't 100%. So I wild guess November/December. Welcome BurningDaylight!
  15. Does anybody played any of the Evochron series? It seems to be interesting. I'm considering buying it, but any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks
  16. The first one is one of my ever favorites computer games. A true classic. Amazing story with a great gameplay. Unfortunately I doubt that this sequel will attain the finesse of the first one. Developers are mostly dumbing down the franchise versions. Most of us now are living in a console world with a joypad in our hands and sitting in a couch. Deus Ex doesn't fit in that world.
  17. Eeheheh. Nice video.
  18. Once I've spoken with a salesman of water filtering devices. You couldn't imagine how he portrayed the water we drink. If I was sensible with that kind of talking, I think I'd had stop drinking water at that moment. For now, I still having my hair, teeth and toes. Beautiful view. A dream for a geologist. Thanks for sharing Lou.
  19. UK computers: ZX-Spectrum - ZX SPin Dragon 32 - XRoar Amstrad CPC 464 - WinApe BBC - model-b Vectrex - DVE There is also a ZX-Spectrum online emulator here.
  20. I can't show this to my wife. She'll think that CombatAce has a bad influence on me.
  21. Not all systems, FalconC45. For example the Corsair H50 don't need to be refilled. In fact there's no way to do it.
  22. I think you can go easyly to 20%. As far as I know there is no much difference between I7-880 and the one you chose. if the price difference is above $50 I wouldn't go for it. Can't you ask them if they can't OC to 20% instead for 10%? Corsair, Thermaltake, Coolermaster, these are brands that I use, they have a certain quality build. AFAIK, the HX series from Corsair are Seasonic made. If you don't pretend to upgrade in the near future, than go for at least 5850. Otherwise you'll be bottlenecked for a long time.
