  3. Take it easy, the only super crap would be the F-35 which just made it to the USMC a couple months ago, and I think they only got a few of them. That plane is only what 6 years behind the planned delivery date. The RN was waiting on it hoping for the transition to take place before the decom of the Harrier.

  12. "Little Dieter Needs to Fly" is the documentary "Escape from Laos" by Dieter Dengler "Hero Found" The Greatest POW Escape of the Vietnam War [bruce Henderson] On February 1, 1966, the day after the carrier began flying missions from Yankee Station, A German ex-pat Lt j.g. Dieter Dengler launched from the USS Ranger with three other A-1 Skyraidrs from VA-145 the Swordsmen, on an interdiction mission against a truck convoy that had been reported in North Vietnam. Thunderstorms forced the flight to divert to their secondary target, a road intersection located west of the Mu Gia Pass in Laos. At the time, U.S. air operations in Laos were classified "secret." Visibility was poor due to smoke from burning fields, and upon rolling in on the target, Lt j.g. Dengler and the remainder of his flight lost sight of one another. Dengler was the last man in and was hit by anti-aircraft fire. He managed to crash-land his Skyraider in Laos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSs7gTQqNfE

  15. I still do not understand why the GB govt grounded them and sold some off to the USMC. You would think they would keep 1 carrier and some Harries on hand, just incase.
