Anybody else watching this show, I never read the book. It's about a US Navy Destroyer sent North on a top secret mission, when their mission is about to end all sh!t breaks loose, and the crew and scientists onboard are tasked pretty much with saving what's left of the worlds population. http://www.tntdrama.com/shows/the-last-ship.html

If the unit cost per f-16 was cheaper it would have worked out, and if your going to intercept a flight of bombers or strike aircraft well who cares what you have for a power plant as long as you can intercept said flights. Who squashed the program General Dynamics?

Maybe he's just strung up in a tree waiting to get found, I hope. Its what's sucks about fast jets, things happen fast good or bad. Is there a skin for the 104th?

That squadron was based at Otis Air Guard Base, now at Barnes Air Guard Base.

The West went bankrupt trying to police the rest of the world and crappy big business taking advantage of governments and their people, pretty sure we were financially ok after the fall of the Eastern block, financially speaking. The U.S. along with some of the larger NATO nations spread themselves thin trying to do the "Right Thing". When maybe we should have stepped back and taken a breather after the Cold War. One has to ask is Iraq better off with or with out Saddam? Maybe Mother Earth would have been better off if we blew ourselves into oblivion, she could start over without the hateful race fighting over trivial things.

Says the kid from the other side of the street, I'm sure the MIG-29 was and newer/upgraded versions are very capable fighters, it all comes down to who's behind the stick and the logistics behind such a platform. It was the free world against Russia and her Eastern Block Nations. We know who one the Cold War. Your welcome Gepard.

The Jet That Shocked The West

They still use that format. -
It is a good looking bird, just funny looking on the ground profile view it looks like it could tip onto its nose or tail if the brakes are applied to hard or runs over a pebble.

The Russians didn't build junk. Their equipment was built around the make it tuff, not to techno, and built in larger numbers style of warfare, part of the collapse of the Russian country during the arms race. Would their equipment work with the way U.S. and NATO countries fight, probably not. A conventional war between NATO, Russia and her Eastern Block nations would have been interesting to see which method would prevail. Technology over numbers.

I get the whole new Navy thing of naming our carriers after US Presidents(good President's, not b00bs) now, but there should be a few names like the Sarratoga, or carriers that were scrapped that took place in epic battles or were at key places in time in U.S. History. Ships that have ben sunk in battle or are current museums aside.

I was thinking hyperspace.

Myself no, but close friends yes, It's just tragic for all involved.

Tragic, the only ones he truly hurt were his family, friends, and fans. I'll stop there.

He made me laugh, but suicide, that only hurts the people left behind.

Rollout of Japan’s new Mitsubishi ATD-X Shinshin stealth fighter jet prototype. Not a big plane, the range can't be projected to be as close to that of the F-22 or F-35. Video shows a mock up with fuel tanks. I would think for ferry only or when a need not to be stealthy, maybe dump the tanks and it will be stealthy. But when they only need such planes to defend and not project then you would not need the range, I'd guess. http://globalaviationreport.com/2014/07/13/rollout-of-japans-new-mitsubishi-atd-x-shinshin-stealth-fighter-jet-prototype/

I was sitting on top of a flying A-6
MAKO69 replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
The ejection system didn't fire, or accidently went off. At the top of the seat there is a weighted piece of metal that failed which breaks the canopy open. the momentum of this weight pulled the seat part way through the canopy. The weight was jarred loose over several years of positive and especially negative Gs. A very good job getting it back aboard. -
Already to go with my DVR when I saw it last week.
