  1. I'd love to use a Su-35S instead of Su-27 Flankers packing the latest air to air missiles and add some more EW/Jamming without having to use American EA-18G Growlers. Any ideas how to go in this direction would be appreciated. Thanks. I also have to note the JDS Hamagiri might have jammers on board, necessitating the Backfires to get close.
  2. Well I just hope everybody's OK with the idea of jumping between JASDF 201 & 203 F-15J Squadrons in missions... because I've got a new mission for the 203rd. Apparently the JDS Hamagiri that was heading out on patrol is being called back to join a JMSDF Surface Task Force where it can be part of a combined maritime defense protecting maritime air defense units from subs instead of a sacrificial lamb to the Russian Air Force. Problem is, the Russians know she's out there alone and have sent a couple of Backfire bombers: They've got eight (8!) Su-27 Flankers for escort in two groups of four: \ The Russians know if they get one hit - just one - on the Hamagiri, it'll go down: So instead, you gotta use the AAM-4B's superior range and swat away the Flankers first: But with just a bit of time to spare before the Tu-22M3s dive into the sudden thunderstorm, you've got to splash the Backfires. Can you pull this off? There are 220 sailors counting on you and your wingman to exercise fire discipline and pull this off!
  3. Thanks for doing this, any chance to replace "Red Crown" with some other term... just doesn't exactly seem right as the term comes from a Navy destroyer sitting off of North Vietnam (that I remember all the way back from Jane's Fighter Anthology and playing Vietnam War in SF2). Magic as if a call from AWACS seems possible. Understand if no. Otherwise, many thanks!
  4. SF2 Series Menu Screen Templates

Much appreciate this tool for mission & campaign writers. Helpful to have some guidelines and a template for making custom screens! Thanks @Wrench!
  5. OK, @1Patriot-of-many: a) The 1982 Falklands War didn't have Harpoon missiles. I've read enough books and played the GREAT SF2 mod to make it so. b) OK, assuming you want to play a "What If" scenario, well you have to copy-paste from the original aircraft & ships over to the appropriate folders, plus in regards to sounds program SoundList.ini in Notepad. Let me know if this is clear. Or if I need to write more detailed instructions with screenshots please.
  6. I will go look, now that I'm mostly done flying for tonight and found where have some code to learn & add - namely naming ships! Thank you! EDIT: Got 'em @Wrench - You da man! I know my way around photoshop, so I'll take it from here! Won't let you down!!
  7. Little updates: 1) Going to stick some friendly Japanese SAMs, AAA and a surface-to-ship missile battery very near to Cape Nosappu for most missions. Below is a photo - and please note I'm working on my placement skills: That is when I'm not adding more surprises to the first mission in the pak and then operationally testing them: 2) Seriously thinking about writing another F-15J mission where F-15Js from 203 Sqn have to intercept Tu-22M Backfires that are out to sink an Asagiri-class Destroyer racing from fisheries patrol to join the JMSDF Surface Action Group being put together. It's only got eight (8!) Sea Sparrow missiles and a CIWS, so you better get the Backfires first. Just don't want the mission to be boring.
  8. Is there a template somewhere to help me create these kind of files? Thanks in advance!
  9. Hope @mdatelmi and @Heberth can please share. These look awesome! Requisite screenshot of a "What If" jet:
  10. Worth noting: Sometimes when Single Mission writing, I find the damn date slide back to 2018 even though I've programmed in 2050 as the end of the map. So I go back into the proper mission.ini under Missions and write in the proper date & time. Just go here guys and note the bold: Not hard to change a 2018 into a 2020 in Notepad!
  11. Beautiful what if scheme, if improbable. :-)
Very nice to see someone make screens for a good map. When I have time (after a certain campaign gets released), I'll be playing the Nellis map with these screens!
  12. Thanks @Menrva! Sad to say, only a few missions will be during a thunderstorm. All missions will not be in blue sky weather however. Thanks for your contributions to a better Kuril Islands map. Thanks so much @Gepard. I notice you have just enough of Honshu there to have the Misawa Air Base also included!
  13. How did you get snow in there @yakarov79? Nice! Also ought to as well tell you guys I didn't sleep well last night so I wrote up a quick escort mission of 2 F-15Js of 203 Sqn, 2 F-2As vs. 2 modernized Su-27s & 2 Nanchukas. The end results so far after a few test runs: AAM-4B at Su-27 firing air-to-air missile ASM-2 on the deck F-15J down low doing an intercept Menacing Su-27 under the thunderstorm Nanchuka blowing up Nanchukas exploding Nanchukas sinking together F-15J of 203 Sqn flying home.
  14. Couldn't sleep last night so wrote an acute F-15J escort mission escorting two F-2As to attack. The final result: Su-27 Flankers going down Pair of Nanchuka patrol boats ambushed by ASM-2s.
  15. Good point. That would be nice if the terrain came with that. I could always make it June 2020 for that reason alone.
  16. What a difference a week makes. Now there will be at least one JASDF F-35A mission... for more details, go to the mission pak development thread please: Requisite screenshots:
  17. 27 Jan. 2019 update: I'm not able to put in a lot of work into this every day, but decided to remove most of the SAM sites from Kunashir Island. I recognize how hard @Gepardworked on the Kuril Islands, but having SA-10s remain on the map so close to Hokkaido Island after an emergency SEAD mission doesn't work for me. You can download the original here: Otherwise, I went into the code and have done my best to remove the SAM sites & SAM shelters from just Kunashir Island. The thinking being I'm pretty sure in a <24 Hour campaign; the AAA won't all be easily eliminated but this way I will only have SA-10s keep harassing jets on take-off & final approach to Hokkaido Island when I the single mission pack creator want them to. After all, most of the air combat is around Kunashir or in the Sea of Okhotsk. With that, some screenshots of the JASDF F-35As storming Kunashir Island to take out the one test SA-10 site & some of the support units I put up in the mission planner: So yes, there is operational testing still underway. Mainly to test the modified map code and relocated SAM sites... to destruction.
