Thanks MJ! This ought to be a cool sim, looking forward to it. I dont meant to brag but Im known as "Commander silent death" in my old SH2 circle, which includes mostly...well...me. Dont forget to visit their website and take a look at the first released video and screens, they are VERY impressive. The explosion effects are incredible.

Sarge, Ive not heard of that problem with the game. Almost sounds like some sort of bug. I would suggest posting on the Naval Warfare Project Forum. Those guys are pretty quick to get back to you on any problems. I would also make double sure that the sensors are on for the Awacs or E-3, just right click on the platform and go to "Sensors". But you probably knew that... :)

LOL! Dag, you know, I do that all the time, hehe. You dont know how many times Ive run out of the house, get all the way to the truck, reach in my pocket for my keys and...realize that not only are they NOT in my pocket, but still sitting on the chestofdrawers... Im gonna guess and say he was probably gonna post about the SH3 trailer. It's very cool. If the game looks like that, then we are in for a treat. Check out the website link he posted in the other thread on the new SH3 website. Ill let Dag post the actual link for the movie assuming that was what he wanted to do, hehe. :D

Love the F-84, remember this plane as a kid in Tucson. Youd see them fly over occasionally, probably doing some training at Davis-Monthan AFB. I also made Revell models of it. The plane just LOOKED cool and business-like. Pretty amusing story about Yiannis, he sounds like just about any red blooded pilot, lol. Always looking for adventure, and if you cant find it in the air, look for it on the ground, lol. :D I guess Im gonna hafta break down and get FS2004. One of our elders at church is a WW2 pilot who flew the Stimson and he LOVES the sim. I know me though, Ill be so busy trying to figure out how to communicate with the tower, Ill probably crash into it...

Rereading the "Features" above, I would guess the campaign and Quick Mission modes would be single player correct? (EDIT: This is correct, they ARE single-player.) Watched their "little" movie. The ship models and water look pretty nice. Looking forward to seeing a few more movies espesially showing the interface at work being used. I also checked out the interview with COMBATSIM.COM. I'd forgotten about this. It answers a lot of questions. They even said they are striving for a 2nd quarter release, COOL! :) Hey Dagger, thanks for posting this, Im getting excited about this sim, ought to be something really nice. :)

Also note the vessals and aircraft that will be included in this sim, rather awesome. Platforms Take a look at the KILO SS platform info. Its incrediblebly detailed. Notice the player weps you'll be controlling. I didnt know the old Kilo's carried SA-N-8 and -5 surface to air missiles! I knew the newer boats did. That P-3 better watch his bisquits ot they'll be burnin', hehe. Another question...will it be possible later for the devs, or perhaps even the community, to mod this game and/or add more platforms. I'd espesially love to see a Spruance class DD as these were MAJOR ASW platforms, more so than Perry class methinks. Perry class big advantage is being the main ASW platform at present since the decomm of nearly all Spruance class. Just for everyone's info, I dont think there is a more SERIOUS naval sim developer than Sonalyst. These guys are NAVY! So you know whatever they come out with WILL be bigtime accurate authentic sim.

Some more questions for ya... I understand that we will be able to control our own unit. If I am in a P-3 Ill fly it, I can do ASW consoles dropping sono-bouys and listening to accoustics, and be weps officer too, launching weapons right? Im also wondering if there will be AI units in MP and if Ill be able to control them? Does this game have single player? Will I be able to control other, AI, units than my own then?

There are two zip files, about 1mb each. #1 has 5 versions of the spit IX plus 2 versions of the I185, #2 has all 4 versions of the B25. The thread announcing this and the URL to download the skins is located HERE! The link to download the skins is here...Void skins. I understand they will also be available at www.il2skins.com/. Not sure if they are yet or not. This is a GOOD indication of the imminent release of the patch. Cant wait to fly that B-25! :D

Agreed. In WW2, it wasnt the soldiers will to fight in France that lost them the fight. They were betrayed by their own leaders lack of will. The later resistance movement in France proved the ability of its people to fight. Been reading a lot about the WW2 resistance movement lately. The Danes and lower countries, Norway, France, Poland all had a very strong resistance against Germany. Fascinating reading.

I didnt mean THAT ya perv! I just wanted to show ya somethin'...no WAIT! I didnt want to say that either...:P I was fooling around in my editor last nite and had the Tirpitz sail broadside to the Marat, the Aurora, and another light cruiser. Talk about a duel! Shells and Torpedos (!) were flyin back and forth. Guess who won...the Tirpitz. Next time Ill try TWO Marats with escorts, hehe. ;) Marat is already going down... Tirptz is bloody but unbowed... The end of the Marat and Aurora... The Light Cruiser is last to go, but go she does after a valiant effort...

Wish't I had heard of the reunion beforehand, coulda went. Tucson is only 8 hours from San Diego. Woulda loved to see these guys. That woulda been cool... :( I agree Dutchy, I liked all the action, and the story of 2 guys wanting to fly was sorta cool too, but the 3 way romance was just plain STUPID! It woulda been a really good war flick then. Guess they had to please the women in the crowd... The part that KILLED me was watching them blow up the 5 old Spruance destroyers in one scene. I almost wet myself as I used to serve on one in the Navy. Couldnt beleive they'd do that to fine old ships like the Spruances. I was surprised to find out later they almost all have been decommissioned. Guess you know yur gettin old when the ships you served on start getting decommed... :(

Very cool PG. I grew up reading about these guys in Jablonski's Airwar. They've always been some of my heroes. Woulda loved to have some of their autographs. They defined the word Fortitude... PS. Just outta curiosity, where was the reunion held? You know off-hand?

Did you know there is a "Pacific Aces" mod out for SHII that changes everything to US subs and Jap ships? Just like the original SH! Im impressed, I may have to reinstall my game and see how this mod does. I understand that Subsim is requesting a donation of at least $5 and will allow you to download it or if you make a donation of $20, they'll send you a CD with all the addons, mods, etc. with the PA mod. I think Ill do this payday, Ill let ya know... ;) Mod can be found at this website in the "Downloads" section for SHII...www.subsim.com A review by Subsim can be found here...Pacific Aces review.

Thinkin' of getting back into this game. Sure was a lot of fun. Been hopin the "Civil War Between the States" game by the Walker Boys would come out but after 3 years it doesnt look like they are in any real hurry. So needed a CW fix bad. Like to know where I can find fansites, etc. that might have mods and whatnot. Been doing different searches but not much found yet. I know its an old game but I hear it still has a community...just cant find it yet. :ph34r:

Panzer Commander was a WW2 tank sim. I played it a LOT for quite awhile. You usually controlled a platoon of tanks to a somewhat limited degree, telling them formation, FIRE!, halt, cease fire, etc. There are a LOT of desert combat scenarios for this sim. A great tank website that has ALL the tank links you need is www.tanksim.com/. Good luck and let us know what you find thats cool. Id load up and play Panzer Commander again if there was someone to play it with.
