  1. Voted Other. I think the campaign, mission planning functions and mission builder all go together. I think the game in its current state is a great source of quick single missions but the depth of the campaigns and the pre-mission functions really need to be fleshed out.
  2. One of the reasons why the MiG-17 is such a tough adversary is that the AI breaks down when it comes to section tactics. In the game, if you unload/extend in your Phantom, the MiG-17 will always attempt to chase you. Now in real life this should make him meat for your wingman or any other friendly in the neighborhood, but in-game the AI simply does not respond appropriately, and you are left with the option of extending out a few miles, turning around and coming back with a head-on gun or Sparrow shot. This is unfortunate because it is the reverse of what actually occurred in Vietnam, with the Fresco being swatted out of the sky like flies and the Fishbed considered the more dangerous foe.
  3. Trek had an awesome thing going with DS9, but for whatever reason they have completely abandoned it.
  4. At this point, I'll settle for soon relative to Stiglr (ass) becoming a friendly, supportive, contributing member of the community.
  5. No, that wasn't real refueling. It was a trick with the throttle settings that reversed fuel flow.
  6. Nice model! TK has been pretty clear that refueling is not being planned.
  7. He sends out random emitters and water textures. Like a box of chocolates he is.
  8. What would be hell of cool is if you could use TrackIR as a helmet-mounted sight, look over your shoulder and toss off an Archer or ASRAAM.
  9. The Archer is a potent weapon, though. It would be even more so if the game supported high off-boresight launches. But I find merging with the Fulcrum to raise the "pucker factor" significantly. Its going to be a worthy opponent for the new Tomcats!
  10. As someone said I like having a Red plane that can really give a challenge. Along with the Su-27 and my modded MiG-25 it makes flying over Europe really dangerous...are those blips on my radar easily-dispatched Fishbeds or...
  11. I don't mind at all discussing this with you in PM, but we can't get in the habit of debating moderating decision in public. No, this thread will NOT be locked. It WILL be moderated.
  12. lindr2, you are the winner of a day off from posting.
  13. Or just plain nut, like Stiglr (ass) as seen at Frugal's Comedy Goldmine: http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/showthr...6282&page=3

  15. No argument from me--Top Gun is a bombing school now!
  16. Below 20,000 feet an A-4F can out-turn an F-15. Everything depends on forcing the enemy to fight in the regime where your plane performs best, or so I am led to believe. Also, at Red Flag I am sure that the adversary pilots do not go out to win every fight at all costs--they are there to mimic enemy tactics and allow the student pilots to win if they use the correct counter-tactics.

    f*** IRA

Fighting terrorists is like playing whack-a-mole, which is one of many reasons why Spain shouldn't have made that deal with AQ. Still, sorry to hear that some of your guys were killed.
  18. No offense taken. :) Probably the best plan is to discuss modding this plane in a thread other than the release thread. As Dave said, the guys put 2 years of hard work into this and we think it is pretty good without mods, but ThirdWire games are designed for modding and if you want to make changes, we encourage it. However as I said it is best to let the release thread remain focused on the plane as it was made. Part of the fun of this hobby is releasing our planes and seeing that people like them, if you know what I mean.
  19. We think that our Fulcrums are fine on their own. Lindr2 isn't the only Russian in the world, and our guys consulted numerous Russian sources (including the pilot's manual, which I think is definitive) while putting this plane together.
  20. No its mostly footage of a Red Flag exercise with commentary. Its pretty pro-USAF obviously.
  21. The Blu-Ray version is hell of awesome. Its a documentary rather than a movie, but it doesn't go into the kind of detail that we aficionados would like. The aerial footage is outstanding though.
  22. Fubar was technical advisor on the man ass scenes.
