Gerwin, with the recent AVG updates even your latest TFDtool executable appears as a Trojan Generic16_c. I wonder why this happens, I am sure it's a false positive. -
Aliens under the polar ice cap?
Menrva replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Wow, you've done a lot of work, Wrench, nice one! Don't worry about re-releasing, RL comes first. I am curious about the charts, would love to see how the pack differs in winter and summer. -
F-106 Cockpit Frame Removed! Via Cockpit.INI edit work around.
Menrva replied to KJakker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I'd say it would be better to upload it in the add-on cockpits section. And for the credits, Pasko made the aircraft 3D model, while Kesselbrut made the cockpit 3D model plus the .ini, I think. -
Chinese territorial claims
Menrva replied to Ice Man's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Things are getting hotter in the real world South China Sea: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-37019028 It seems like the Chinese are building hangars for fighter jets on a number of disputed islands: https://amti.csis.org/build-it-and-they-will-come/ -

Do as you wish, until gerwin looks at it again. But I can tell you that it works and it gave me no problems, it's likely a false positive. -

Me too, AVG anti-virus removes the .exe saying it is a Trojan. I am sure it is a false positive, so I listed it in the exceptions, now I can use it again. -
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-36997711 The world's longest aircraft has been brought out of its hangar for the first time. The Airlander 10, a plane-airship hybrid, was piloted out of the UK's biggest hangar at Cardington Airfield, Bedfordshire, at 04:00 BST on Saturday. The 302ft-long (92m) aircraft passed with just a few feet to spare through the hangar doors and was then towed for 30 minutes to its mast site. I am looking forward to its maiden flight, seems an interesting concept.

Aliens under the polar ice cap?
Menrva replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
How about only reworking the sea tile with ice in order to make the ice patches smaller and more sporadic? I mean, let's take said sea tile and add more water to it plus alpha channels, rather than ice. This way we could avoid making transition tiles. It won't look perfect, but better. -
Templates for Veltro's YF-12A
Menrva posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
It seems there are no available templates for this fast bird. Wrench once released a SF2 updated version, but it contained a white (and I guess fictional) texture. I think it would be great to have a black texture like its recon counterpart, the SR-71. It surely would be an alternative to those who don't have access to A-Team stuff. I'd really like to try paint the plane and update it a bit (wrong camera views allow to see the 'interior' of the fuselage), but I need templates, if anyone is willing to create them (I'm not good with that kind of stuff). -
Angola/South West Afrika Full terrain With REDONE Campaigns
Menrva replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
It's a TOD issue, tree targa files must be reworked. -
We all know that the problem is in the Sunni community. But our governments support countries such as Saudi Arabia, so what do you expect? You got the point. No way he could stay in Germany, but he did apparently. Something is wrong with security all over Europe. France is the first example.
-
It has been confirmed, the Ansbach bomber pledged allegiance to ISIS, damned sucker. Now even Germany is in the list of potential targets for ISIS. Europe is all but safe as of now.
-
I understand your rage. But keep in mind that he was not a recent Syrian refugee. From what I read he's been in Germany for more than two years, and his asylum request was denied. Sure, when asylum is denied, I thought you have to leave the country you are in. Security screw up 101. You are right, the world can't keep going this way. I am afraid we are too late. Everything is in motion, tensions between superpowers are still very high (and they say the Cold War ended). We are paying for the sins of our fathers. We created arbitrary borders all over Africa and the Middle East, we created dictatorships in such areas when they were useful, and got rid of them when someone suddenly decided it was a loose end (for instance, overthrowing Saddam in Iraq). We made friends with the real enemy (the rich countries/families that finance ISIS and other terrorist/mercenary armies), now we pay for that choice.
-
When I wrote my previous post, reports were sketchy, and I clearly said that it was to be confirmed. Of course, now just because his name is Ali, he is now a ISIS terrorist in your mind. But, why do I bother writing such things to you? Your comments are those of a man without the sense God gave a chicken, let me tell ya! Apart from that, I am relieved to hear that your brother and your brother's GF are safe and sound. That loser of a killer was coward enough to shoot himself after his crazy shooting spree.
-
That is what you say. Police neither confirms nor denies it has to do with the usual ISIS terrorists/lone wolves. There is proof instead that the bastards could be neo-nazis instead. So avoid that load of crap when everything is yet to be confirmed.

Can TODs be resized?
Menrva posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Resuming my terrain modding, I decided to to have a look at the various terrains in my mod folder and decided to tweak things here and there. I wanted to see if I could use hi-res First Eagles tilesets in SF terrains. Tiles are no problem obviously, but TODs are, since they do not scale properly, they are like 1:8 or more of what they should be. I think this might have to do with the fact that First Eagles' TFD resolution is 500, while in SF it is 2000. I discovered this old thread (http://combatace.com/topic/21873-resizing-terrains-thread/), it explains how stock SF terrains can be resized to RL scale thanks to Hex editing and doubling of values in the .inis. But TOD files are always a problem, they do not scale. I am wondering if the same idea (Hex editing) could be applied to TODs as well. -
Can TODs be resized?
Menrva replied to Menrva's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Thanks for replying, Stary. Indeed you're right, I was out of my mind, density in FE2 TODs is way too high for SF2 to handle. I have seen some interesting screenshots you made and posted in the SF2 screenshots thread a while ago. Your terrain experiments always intrigue me. You managed to obtain a sort of Jane's USAF look in regards to the terrains (with an hi-res patch, Jane's USAF terrains do look so much better than the ones in stock SF2). But I think that TODs would be a problem, since they are tile-based. -
Su-37 Yellow Squadron skinpack
Menrva replied to tonipm99's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Pity we don't have a proper and legal Su-37. Thanks for the skinpack anyway. Anything that is AC related makes me excited. Can't wait for AC7. BTW, just for the readers' interest, Yellow 13 is actually based on WW2 German ace Hans-Joachim Marseille. Ace Combat might tell fictional stories in a fictional world, but there are many connections to our real world history, myths and legends. -
SF2 ODS Aircraft and Screen Upgrade Pack 2018
Menrva replied to Viper63a's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Wow, thanks for this updated package, Viper! I must apologise because by mistake I rated the file with 4-stars instead of 5. Anyway, I hope I'll manage to find some free time in the coming month to try it and play SF2 again. I must resume modding as well, for the ODS - Iran/Iraq war terrain. -
I'd say most terrorists claim to be/are muslim, but otherwise there have been other terror attacks with different backgrounds (people seem to forget what happened in Norway years ago, where many died in the hands of a single psycho). Moreover, we (correctly) define these acts as terror attacks, but what about the shootings that usually happen in the US of A? If the suspect is not a muslim, then it is not a terrorist attack, according to the news. Something is very wrong; I thought that anything that involves innocent deaths, mayhem and destruction has to be defined a terror attack, but it doesn't seem to be the case it the bastards are from a certain background. I'd avoid jokes if I were you, many have died in this cruel terror attack, and many children are fighting for their lives, and hell knows if their parents are still alive or injured or worse. My condolences to the victims' families.

Nope, you can see how they are placed on each tile, though, as shown in the screenshot above. It's very useful already. -

It works, Typhoid. Try using the latest version of 7-Zip or WinRAR.
