  1. You're right Spud, in fact I am a bit stupid recently, you would have noticed about it after all, during all the campaigns' testing. Makes me think that the terrain was not unzipped correctly. yakarov, try to unzip the terrain again from the mod package. If the issue shows up again, feel free to post screenshots. I can tell from them which are the tiles affected by the bug. BTW, IIRC it seems that SF2 does have this bug sometimes; when too many mods and resources are being used, something shows up totally black, it fails to load the textures. It happened to me sometimes with ground object and aircraft alike.
  2. Black means untextured. Most likely Spudknocker didn't correct the entries in the terrain _data.ini. I prefer .jpg textures over .bmp for space conservation, but Spud converted all .jpg textures to .bmp. The _data.ini may be referencing wrong file extensions, .jpg instead of .bmp or viceversa, depending on what is effectively inside the terrain folder. Also, I decided to remove various TODs for buildings and trees from my latest terrain versions (Spud's terrain still has the additional old TODs), since I don't like them very much, they are very old and I would love to see Stary or other artists improve the tileset someday. So, wait for my standalone releases (it will take a while), the issues you are encountering are already fixed.
  3. Unless Spud changed anything, it should be a NavalMap. Better yet, wait for me to release the standalone versions of the terrain, they will contain more things, targets and a greater year span, including ODS and OIF.
  4. Great work, Spudknocker! I would like to hear what terrain modders think about the new terrain. It took me a long time, I hope it was worth the wait. Standalone releases will follow for ODS and Operation Darius, but I won't update the campaigns, they need major rework and I'll leave that to eburger and others. But I can help a little in regards to historical accuracy.
  5. The latest trailer from Project Aces, just in case the AC fans here missed it: https://youtu.be/zIIoRDCmJEA Strangereal is finally back!
  6. Extended Ace Combat 7 Trailer with English subtitles Good news, it's coming for PC too.
  7. Not gonna happen for first version. I might need some artists for a better looking tileset too. Ok, thanks a lot, Wrench!
  8. Okay, terrain preparations are complete. First terrain you'll be able to play will be part of Spudknocker's Iran/Iraq war mod package. My standalone releases will follow in the coming weeks. @Wrench, before I give Spudknocker the green light, I want to check if it's okay with you that I include your old ReadMe files from the IR and IR2003 terrains together with my own ReadMe. Especially because I might forget in the credits someone whose work has been included indirectly in my reworked terrain. Although the terrain is pretty much 99% new, few target layouts may be your work too, so I'll wait for your permission.
  9. Yes, PFunk, you can. A terrain nations.ini can override the main nations.ini of the game in the flight folder. For a specific terrain, you can set nations allegiance however you like, for instance you can set USAF as enemy and USN as friendly, even Soviet and USMC together as friendly and so on.
  10. I like it, this one would be perfect for a direct confrontation between Greece and Turkey. Looking forward to it! Just be careful about the Wall, because you won't be able to targetize some areas at the edge of the terrain.
  11. Strange, the targets.ini I have does not reference such target. I may have a different and more up to date version. Wrench made several updates during the years for this terrain. If you can, post your targets.ini and I'll have a look into it. I suggest that you check all available downloads about this terrain, some are only updates from what I can remember, so must be installed in correct order into the terrain folder.
  12. Are you sure that it is not at the edge of the map? A target could have been placed beyond the the Wall by mistake
  13. Celestial Breach

Not bad at all, seems solid both in gameplay and graphics! Reminds me of Ace Combat for the sci-fi/fictional setting. I wish Ace Combat 7 can make it to PC, Project ACES' arcade gameplay is still unmatched IMHO (not to confuse Ace Combat with Assault Horizon, that wasn't a real AC game).
  14. No idea. Instead I wonder, since when landings on water are supported? You can literally land over water, no carriers, nothing. The game engine is so old and flawed sometimes.
  15. Most likely because 4 acts as a wingman to 3, but unlike wingman 2 whom you can give orders, 4 doesn't get orders from you directly. Flight order affects 2 and 3. I wonder if 3 can (implicitly) give orders to 4 like we can do with 2.
  16. True, we can make it. To make a good terrain takes time of course. It will be worth the wait. I'd like to help with it as well, but not now, as I am busy with the Iraqi terrain instead. Maybe in the next month I'll find some time for it, i'd really like to contribute. BTW, in order not to hijack this thread about Iraq/Iran, let's revive this old one about Cenepa: http://combatace.com/topic/84630-equadorperu-terrain-project-wip-input-wanted-from-terrain-gurus/ Looking forward to any news about it there!
  17. Stratos, do you have anything relative to Centurion-1's Iran-Iraq war mod too? He made various aircraft skins, terrain tiles, etc.
  18. Really? Sounds like we could form a team to complete it in the future, but I'd wait to hear if it's okay with him.
  19. Hi, Stratos! Believe me, there is no such thing as fast terrain making. You're talking to the guy who spent almost three years on a small terrain (it's not even real size, it's like stock TW's terrains). Of course, I spent most of the time researching details, targets locations, and hand-tiling the whole Mesopotamia with rivers, lakes and so on. I think you all we'll be impressed with the results. I used satellite images as reference during all the development. If you're not seeking ultra-accuracy, especially with rivers and lakes, you can gain quite some time for targets placement and so on. I only wish that the terrain could get a better tileset complete with new TODs once it is released. Some magic from Stary or other artists here would make the terrain really shine. Creating good-looking tilesets and TODs is also very time consuming. Out of curiosity, IIRC, Stratos you were working together with Centurion-1 on a beatiful terrain representing Ecuador and Peru, a long time ago. Such a pity Centurion-1 is no longer active, he had so many interesting mods for SF2. But RL comes first, I hope he's well and all.
  20. Unfortunately Centurion-1's project went dark, he was working on a 32 strategic node ground war. Spudknocker built another mod package using these new terrains as a base. So simply enjoy what we'll have to offer. Besides, I hope that once the terrains get released, we'll see updated versions of Operation Desert Storm, Operation Darius and maybe for the first time a campaign based on Operation Iraqi Freedom.
  21. Thanks to the recent support of Spudknocker, the new Iran/Iraq terrain is in its final stages of development. I plan to release the terrain by the end of the month. In case of delays, NLT (no later than) mid-February. I will release two terrain packages, one for the Iran-Iraq war, ODS and OEF/OIF; the other terrain, post-OIF 2003, with Iraq set as Friendly and Iran as Enemy. I'm sorry for the lack of updates during this long time, guys, but RL is a PITA sometimes. Well, see you soon!
  22. Shahak Over Israel. SF2.

Incredible attention to details, high quality stuff! Thanks for sharing, yakarov79!

  25. Movie, Books, or Show Suggestions Please.

I also suggest the following movies. They are all based on real stories; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomacy_(2014_film) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woman_in_Gold_(film) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Railway_Man_(film) Diplomacy is a bit fictionalized, yet it gives an idea of how Paris was on the brink of total destruction (on Hitler's orders) as soon as the Nazis were in retreat. Woman In Gold is a story of justice. It deals with one particular painting of Klimt, which was stolen by the Nazis during the war and which has been at the center of a legal battle years ago. The Railway Man shocked me, it is such an extraordinary story, amazing to think it is real. It is based on the book of the same name. One of my favourite TV series is Person Of Interest. I still have to watch the fifth and last season.
