  1. F-4E sharkmouth fix View File In case you didn't download my long gun mod for the F-4E-35, here are the decals.ini files for the stock F-4E/long gun mod and the short gun F-4E-35. Also the sharkmouth decals which are slightly different. Add the decals to the Objects-decals folder of course. Add the decals.ini for the version you are using to each texture folder. Mike D. This is a complete overhaul to the USAF Southeast Asia Phantom II tailcode decals I did some time ago. It is now working for the post October patch for WOV as well as the original install versions. It depicts every USAF camouflaged F-4C/D/E Phantom II unit which flew in Southeast Asia from late 1966 until 1975 (a total of 66 schemes). All new decal art is provided, and many minor corrections were made as new information came to light. The textures are still 1024 pixel but should be considered as a placeholder until my newer higher resolution camo textures are finished. The original random F-4 serial numbers are included if you don't already have them. The new squadronlist.ini has many additional entries, but the default entry designations are unchanged so that you may still fly any missions or campaigns without any editing (although I have revised the descriptions). As before, it adds correct fin tip colors to the vertical fin tips and RHAW antenna housing, and wingtip tape light decals as appropriate for the time periods. Also included is a nose landing gear door decal with the last three digits of the serial number - which is repeated on the inside of the nose gear side fairing door (for F-4Ds only for non-TAC serials 000 thru 039). Although not appearing on every PACAF F-4D, this was very common on many F-4Ds in Southeast Asia. I have presented the most typical (and sometimes more colorful) markings for units - and in some cases even uncoded aircraft (as was typical at Udorn from late 1972 through 1973). Note that many squadrons have multiple entries in the squadron pull-down list, depending upon how many schemes a unit used. (Many squadrons have five or more entries). Enjoy, Mike Druzolowski

  4. Oh, I don't need to back my files up, my hard drive has never crashed....
  5. Since this is a "game" you can modify it to carry whatever ordnance you like, including bombs and napalm and sidewinders, but the F-101B went into ADC service armed with only TWO of the early model Falcons (AIM-4A/B/C), then the B- was dropped and the A/C model Falcons were carried until 1963-64 or so, when the C- model Falcon missile airframes were converted to D- models (which carried the advanced seker electronics of the G-model). In actual practice in the later years, only the IR AIM-4D Falcon was usually seen on the alert birds of ADC/ANG - not sure of the reason for this though. The AIM-4E/F/G Super Falcon are physically larger and will not fit on the Voodoo - nor will they fit on the F-102A (as is often quoted in some sources). Nor will the AIM-26A/B Nuclear Falcon fit on the Voodoo (which is also quoted as in Canadian Air Force inventory - the Nuc Falcons were stockpiled in Canada per NORAD direction for use by ADC F-102As at several bases, not for use on the CF-101B). Just so you know, Enrico was right... Mike D.

This was intended for the initial release of Enrico's superb F-101B Voodoo, but somehow slipped through the cracks. The 16 F-101B/F Voodoo interceptor aircraft operated by ADC's Air Defense Weapons Center at Tyndall AFB, Florida during the year of 1970. Enjoy, Mike Druzolowski

  10. To the above several posts, we mentioned Brunswick, Bangor and Loring. Greater Pittsburgh for deuces, Harrisburg for EC-121...O.K. kind of going astray here... McGuire is a good add. Quonset had USMC Reserve A-4Cs, plus RIANG C-130s. Add the closed-now NAS South Weymouth, Mass for Navy Reserve P-3s, Willow Grove PA also for C-130, A-4 and P-3. Stewart AFB in Newburgh was originally an old ADC base with F-86s. Burlington was Ethan Allen AFB once with ADC F-102s (37th FIS). Been to all these places taking photos. Mike D.
  11. Definately Enrico's (& team) F-101B - very accurate outline and details, nice accurate cockpit, nice touches like drag chute, nice flight model, nice mapping job to make repaints easy - hands down, no contest! Although the other Voodoo models are well done also... Mike D.
  12. My Hurricane markings became back-burnered by Dave and Enrico who requested a few more F-101 Voodoo skins, but I'll get back to them in a few days. Thanks for the compliments by the way. I'll try to do the Spit textures too. Mike D.
  13. Ooooh, sorry - typing too quick. No Westover F-15s - F-104/F-102A/EB-57 plus SAC of course. Man, you guys don't miss a trick! Barnes is now air defense with F-15s from Otis, not 104/102. Mike
  14. Sure. Every place interceptors flew from for starters (depending upon how far north/south you go): Bradley IAP, CT - F-102A Westover AFB, Mass. - F-15 Barnes MAP, Mass. - F-102/F-104 Otis AFB, Mass. - F-101B/F-106A/F-15 Burlington MAP, VT - F-89J/F-102A/F-4/F-16 Niagara Falls IAP, NY - F-106 dets/F-101B Suffolk County AFB, NY (Gabreski AP) - F-102A/F-101B Griffiss AFB, NY - F-101B/F-106A NAFEC Atlantic City AP, NJ - F-106A/F-16 Bangor IAP, Me (Dow AFB) - F-101B/F-102A/F-106 dets Loring AFB, Me - F-102A/F-106A Langley AFB, VA - F-102A/F-106A/F-15 Goose AB, Labrador? CAF bases? Gimli, Chatham Other Guard bases for air-to-mud/USN/SAC: Hancock Fld NY, Byrd Fld VA, NAS Oceana VA, NAS Norfolk, NAS Brunswick Me (for P-3s), Pease AFB NH, Plattsburgh AFB NY
  15. This sounds great to me - a place to fly interceptors from. What AFB locations do you have flat spots for? Thanks again, mike D.
  16. Roads? I think that would be a bit much. I'd be happy with some random suburban/farm/forest terrain, with some city tiles here and there - and mostly flat spots where airport/AFBs go..! The WOE tiles look a lot like New England to me. Mike
  17. There was one in South Windsor also - still active when I was young. Mike
  18. It would be great just flying around local bases. I can help with air defense unit locations in the Northeast. Can always whip up some more Voodoo skins too. Mike
  19. Very nice! I can see my house! Mike
  20. With all these CAF and ADC/ANG Voodoos coming to CombatAce, anyone give a thought to making a terrain map for the Northeast USA? Would be fun to intercept historical TU-95s heading for the area. Mike D.
  21. Goose AB was used as a forward operating base by CAF and ADC interceptors from 1968. Here is a little historical blurb (hope it is not too boring): Per NORAD directive dated 05 March 1968: Due to increasing Soviet air activity off the Labrador Coast, the 416th AW(F) Squadron at CFB Chatham will establish an alert detachment at Goose AB with two CF-101B aircraft on armed 5-minute alert. On 01 October 1968 ADC drew up an operationas plan known as College Shaft, which charged the closest ADC F-106 squadron to be able to deploy two Delta Dart aircraft to Goose AB, Labrador for possible use in identifying intruding Soviet bombers penetrating the Greenland-Iceland-U.K. (GIUK) Line, which had been occurring with increasing frequency during the year. Soviet Bear bombers woiuld frequently fly through Icelandic airspace (escorted by F-102As of the 57th FIS) and head towards the North American continent, intercepted by CAF CF-101B and ADC F-106 aircraft, then would continue on down the east coast to land in Cuba. The 27th FIS at Loring AFB, Maine was the first assigned College Shaft squadron. On 13 May 1969, after 3 TU-95 Bear bombers penetrated the GIUK Line, 2 F-106As of the 27th FIS were scrambled from Loring, landed at Goose and were refueled, then intercepted the Bear bombers 150 miles from the North American continent (700 miles from Loring). This was the first time that east coast CONUS-based ADC interceptors made contact with Soviet bombers. The Bears turned back after interception. ADC interceptors from Iceland and Alaska had already made interceptions of Soviet bombers previously. Mike D.
  22. Never been in the military myself, but I have crawled around many of these at airshows in the 70s and 80s plus at Niagara Falls several times, and taken lots of photos, and I have to say that Enrico did a VERY nice 3D modeling and texture mapping job on this model. If awards were given out, this has to get my vote as the most accurate airplane created for the Third Wire series in a long time, and it's just incredible as freeware. I have been proud to be a part of the project. It absolutely deserves a download!! Mike
  23. Roger that. Initially designed as a strategic bomber escort, it ended up as a tactical fighter without AAM capability. They were withdrawn in 64-65 time period and some were converted to RF-101G/H configuration for the ANG to get some use out of the airframes. Believed to have stood nuclear alert while stationed at Bentwaters in Europe. Mike D.
  24. I can't locate the exact figures either, but typical armament for a Hun is 7500 lbs I think. With a drop tank on each wing, look for 1x500/750 on each of the remaining pylons. The TER on the inboard CAN carry 3xMk81s but NOT 3xMk82s/Snakeye, and certainly NOT 3xM117 750 lb GP. The use of the TER was VERY rare in Southeast Asia on Huns - would love to see some photos. Probably all went to F-4 units. Nape, Snake or a single GP is the norm. Occasional CBU. Mike D.
