Here is an alternative texture for my No. 1 sqdn Hurricane package. Many sources quote the underside Duck Egg Blue color as having a distint greenish tint. Both A and B schemes are presented here - the A scheme in the post-August 1940 period with the smaller fin flashes and larger underwing roundels. Mike D.

These markings are intended for Capun's Hurricane I as installed in Baltika's Battle of Britain SFP1 campaign. Back up your original files if you wish, then add these files to the "1" folder. There are still a few texture mapping issues, but all-in-all it looks like a Hurricane to me. I take little credit for the textures - they are mostly borrrowed from the best that I found on the Internet, I just adapted them to the model. Thanks go to "Stag", Gramps, Baltika, Wrench, and anyone else I forgot that deserves the real credit. Legal bit: Since these textures are hardly my original work, please don't use them for any commercial purposes - they are for free to increase the enjoyment of the Battle of Britain campaign. The .TGA decals are mine, so do what you want with them. Historical bit: No. 1 Squadron of the RAF equipped with Hurricane I aircraft in 1938. The original "NA" codes were replaced by "JX" in September 1939. After operations during the Battle of France, the unit was relocated back to Tangmere 23 June 1940 where it operated under 11 Group, entering combat during the Battle of Britain from August 1940.On 09 September the squadron was withdrawn to RAF Wittering under 12 Group to rest, recuperate and refit. More units to come. Mike D.

  5. O.K. I'll try her - send her over.... No Battle of Britain terrain choices here...Hmmffg...Man once you do a WW2 install, you'll never go back! Mpd
  6. I must be getting old - I had to do a search on Google to find out who she was... Mike
  7. Not sure how to state this properly.... No. 66 Squadron never flew the Buffalo - but No. 67 Squadron did - Singapore and Burma. Looks great - especially the Battle! Mike
  8. Go into your InVidea control panel and try setting anisotropic filtering to the max (16x). I followed this tip and my graphics looked 100% better. Mike D.
  9. Those marks look great! We need a France campaign now. No work around for the radiator scoop issue I guess, but still a good base model to shoot me-109s down in all-in-all. The A scheme is just a mirror image - should be no problem flipping the skin and doctoring it up a bit. MPD
  10. The fuselage roundel is on the base art, the codes and serial are one decal - there is still a slight bleed under the fuselage, but it doesn't bother me that much - much less without the roundel. The decal as suggested covers the tailwheel strut. I can release the squadrons as I do them - I hate to wait to try to do a bunch and release a big package (that I may never finish...). Have to sit down and watch the movie on DVD again though. I checked out Baltika's campaign to add the 11 Group squadrons that he missed...and there are none! They are all there - great work on the campaign!! It is well worth the download by anyone wanting a WW2 install of this classic battle! More to come.. Mike
  11. I started a series of Hurricane markings for Capun's Hurry, intended for Baltika's Battle of Britain campaign. I found enough references for actual airplane serial numbers (with some matching squadron codes also). I'll do his flyable campaign squadrons then I'll do the others. Mike D.
  12. Thanks again - for the life of me I could not find it! Mike
  13. OUTSTANDING! Exactly what I was looking for. My sincere thanks Johan. Is this for versions before the current patches also?? Thanks again for the reply, Mike druzolowski
  14. I think that I missed this in all of the threads and the knowledge base, but can a squadron in a campaign be forced to move to a specified new base at a historical time? Campaign data lists as NEVER or a percentage of probability to relocate to a new random base. Thanks, Mike D.
  15. Do not try to use the earlier .LODs in the final patched versions - they won't work. The new patched version seems to have fixed a few issues (like leading edge flaps) so thanks to TK.
  16. I too am more a skinner than anything else, but sometimes when you get going on a project, it helps to spread the word around to see if anyone wants to jump onboard, and perhaps start some project that's connected somehow (or has already done it but never uploaded it!). We all bring to the table whatever we can. Eventually I somehow envision every airplane, every campaign, every color scheme done and available to everyone!! The Third Wire sims are just amazing in this way. Can't thank the entire CombatAce community enough for all that they've done and shared for free with everyone else! Thanks again to all. Mike D.
  17. Neg - I tried the only plug-in texture filters Photoshop 4 had, and at 2048 pixels, the canvas effects were way too gross. I figured out my antenna map area. Was driving me nuts at first...As I said, mostly stolen from the best I can find. I'm just about ready to start doing units. Dug up all of my RAF references. A neat website I found also: http://www.epibreren.com/ww2/raf/index.html Lists losses by squadron - good reference. The Internet is a wonderful thing!! What would it take to do up a battle of France campaign??
  18. Decals work on new textures. Looks like the roundel needs to be on the base art though, as it does bleed to the bottom of the fuselage. Can't figure out where the radio mast got colored white though! I'll decal it like Wrench said... Mike
  19. You just never know what you're going to see working at the airport... Merry Christmas to one and all. Mike D.
  20. I can't tell you enough how much this hits home. I have had this conversation many times. That generation saw and did things that we can only imagine and read about. When I hear young people today talk about how rough their lives are, I just have to laugh. The Greatest Generation is indeed disappearing right in front of our eyes - they saw the real great depression and war on two fronts. The experiences that they had and the sacrifices that they made were remarkable indeed. My dad is still alive, born in 1923. He lived thru the depression in a family with 6 brothers/sisters, son of a Polish imigrant. He was at Omaha beach on D-Day, and went almost into Berlin with the First Army before coming home. Met my Mom and married her in Belgium. She came over by boat - alone and with a baby. I am so glad that we made them both relate what it was like in those days. God bless them all. Mike
  21. Bingo! That did it - -4.26 aft, -0.72 dn with a 0.5 scale 100 pixel .TGA. Also had to add "Tailhub" to cover the yoke portion. Working on adapting some textures - mostly borrowed (Forgive the quality from my laptop). Trying to figure out where things are mapped. This is the "B" scheme by the way. Mike
  22. Excellent suggestion!! I never would have thought of that. I'll try it tonight - a little trial and error for location. Mike
  23. Storm, I have the 60th FIS underway - four separate schemes which includes a natural metal version for Enrico's early B- model (without the nose IR sensor). Have to get all those New England units covered!! Merry Christmas to all, Mike D.
  24. Kevin, Here is the tailwheel - the texture of the entire base art seems mistakenly mapped to it - a pretty minor issue if you ask me - I would never have looked that close!! Mike
  25. I spent the last hour or so just flying the RAF in random missions - what a hoot! This is a great add-on!! Everysone should do a WW2 install - blows CFS away. The WW2 effects like tracer trails and fire on burning acft looks just superb. I see the Hurry tailwheel mapping issue. If we deleted it completely and added a new part like I did with all the F-4 add-on parts, will it still sit on its gear correctly? By the way, also increased the pitch/roll moments of inertia on both Spit & Hurry by about 25% - seemed a bit better to me. Some new textures would really spiff this up. It's a must have!! Have to try the campaign now.. Thanks to all of you guys. Kevin, I think I already have serials - just trolling in case someone jumps in with some better info. Mike
