In early May 1915, two more British corps are shipped toward Montenegro, in order to prevent a total collapse of the Serbian front. There is indeed no longuer any consistent defense there, with the exception of Belgrade, Sarajevo and Montenegro strongholds. The three powers armies have used their numbers to sneak behind established lines and conquer much of the country. In the southern part of Serbia, Germans and Bulgarian are presently unopposed... The situation is quite worrying. And the supply situation will soon be grim too. On the franco-belgian front, the Entente powers are willing to exploit their past month offensives by attacking Germany in Rhineland. But if the northern part of the offensive is a success, meeting very light resistance, it is soon explained by Germany's plans... The 2nd Reich had launched a dreadfull counter-offensive in the Ardennes and did achieve total surprise on a french army who had set its mind to attack, not to defend. First positions are easily overrun and in a few day, french positions in the Ardennes did collapse until the Meuse came to help defense. What had been the fourth (or is it fifth?) battle of the Ardennes/Bulge of this war is an humiliating french defeat. The front by the last days of May 1915. Germany is obviously not defeated yet. And the offensive might not start again in the West until a few months, especially with more and more troops "resting" (as said by French diplomats in Rome these days) on the Alps. May wasn't an enjoyable month for the Entente.

May-June 1915. Strategic phase. As usual, diplomatic courting goes on. Sadly for the Entente, Italy does lean more and more toward the Central Powers side. It's high time for french army to build up a line on the Alps. Worse, Bulgaria joins the war on the Central Powers side! This is very bad news for the Serbian front. Here's the front lines at the beginning of May. Germany has been expelled out of Belgium by previous allied offensives. All is quiet on northern east-front. Reinforcement are coming in Galicia and Poland. As soon as possible, offensive will resume there, in order to roll back the Austrian army. Central Powers troops are coming "en masse" into Serbia. And Bulgaria's soldiers will add themselves. Resistance will soon become almost impossible for the little kingdow. The Entente's only hope there is the arrival of BEF corps. Too few too late? We'll soon see. R&D efforts are going on. Gas will soon be available... And, of course, diplomats have been sent! Hopefully, they will bring Romania and USA closer to join us and delay Italy's imminent entry... All is calm elsewhere (Caucasus, Middle East, Seas...)

Just discovered a plane I didn't know
Emp_Palpatine replied to Emp_Palpatine's topic in Military and General Aviation
Yup. Wiki article says it was a entirely Yugoslav project. Well, in my humble opinion, the very shape of the plane obviously indicates that French help and inspiration in that case was more than a few tips on how to build modern radars... -
Wandering on the Internet, I found this bird: This silhouette does ring a bell, doesn't it? It's actually not a Rafale, but as the markings do show, it's a Yugoslav "Novi Avion", a former SFRY 4th generation fighter project, heavily based on the Rafale (France and SFRY were very good friend indeed). Hadn't the SFRY disintegrated in late 1991, the plane would have flown in 1992 and entered service in the mid-late 1990's. Without doubts, it would have been a quite good success in exports: Yugoslavia was good to make efficient and cheap military items (Galeb, Super Galeb, M-84...). Might be interesting in Thirdwire sims, as a good or bad guy, whoever the customer is... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novi_Avion

Où pouvez télécharger le hélicoptères Black Hawk?
Emp_Palpatine replied to IAFmars's topic in Français
Strange french actually... Looks like babel fish. As poor grammaticaly as my English can be! By the way, he may have confused Combatace for Checksix, and is indeed searching a Blackhawk. The first sentence does not make sense at all, but others are asking for a download link or an e-mail. -
Question on terrain mods for WoE
Emp_Palpatine replied to Emp_Palpatine's topic in General Discussion
Ok, thanks for the tips! -
I want to wage war against Warsaw pact today. So, I got back to my Nato Fighters install and suddendly remind myself about some trees, farms and such mods, à la "Green Hell". Therefore here's my question: are these two mods compatible? http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6192 ; http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6034 Brain32's GermanyCE Terrain Tiles REPAINT and CA_Stary's Forests and farms environment mod ?

Isn't the NY times a liberal paper?
-
I'll have to buy CF3 (10€ (7-8$) or so, plus shipping), then to buy OFF (40€/50$ or so, plus shipping), that goes up to 50€... And I am not even sure my laptop could run it. That's why I'm so hesitating.
-
Maybe some little pod, just like the Vipers? The captured one hangs by some strings in Galactica's flight deck, but when Starbuck goes back to Caprica, it does clearly land. Maybe by watching this episode closely might you find something.
-
Yeah... But the 50 bucks things for the OFF mod adds some points to FE...
-
All right, chaps. Just downloaded the game. I could also have installed it through my old CD, but I'w lazy these days. Whatever... What is for you the ultimate mod/super patch/whatever, in order to get the best planes, graphics, campaigns and stuffs for RB2?
-
All right. Can a moderator move the topic there, please?

Emp_Palpatine replied to whiteknight06604's topic in General Discussion
Such mods would be great indeed and definitely drive me toward an acquisition of this game. -
Look who's in the October issue...
Emp_Palpatine replied to Longestpants's topic in General Discussion
That remembers me of something I've forgot to tell: i the June issue of a French mag about sims, Falklands 1982 mod got a very good paper (half a page). -
Remember the Street Fighters or Mario Bros film, chaps. Remember...

Still broadcasted on the cable here. I like watching it again and again...

It is, indeed. After First and Second Balkan war (1912-1913), Montenegro sought to annex this city. They can't because of Austrian opposition. As soon as the war started, they proceed to annex the city (and Albania being nothing at that time, as the new state authority was just nominal, they just can't do anything). Because of the size of the map in game and because Serbia and Montenegro are merged in it, I supposed Frank Hunter choose to give Scutari to Serbia (which stands for both kingdoms). If things were correct, the sea-side montenegrese city should be Bar, but I don't even know is there is a port there... For the sake of gameplay, it's much simplified in the game.

As spring comes, offensive plans are now in the head of all general staffs. A french offensive in the Ardenne, across the Meuse is planned. Fresh troops and guns have been prepared there since January. In eastern Prussia, Russian troops are now building complex trench systems, instead of foxholes. It will help to minimize Russian losses because of artillery barrages and even more, make defense more easy, should the German try to attack. In the Balkan, the worrying situation in Serbia led London to send there a corps in order to support Serbian army. Of course, Germany do have her own plans! The Reich soon launch its own offensives from Luxemburg to Verdun and across the Meuse to Liege. Unfortunately for them, the German HQ had not anticipated the French preparations for offensive: they are attacking the most ready troops on all the Western front and just can't progress. On the French side, the news of the German offensive did not prevent the GQG to launch the planned one: if things succeed, the French offensive will strike the German offensives on their flanks! After an heavy artillery barrage, the Poilus launched their attack. Outnumbered Germans did resist in most heroic fashion, but had to fall back. By the way, despite French advance, they still held most of the Ardenne by the end of march. (In terms of gameplay, it means that my units are successful, therefore in the German hex, but they still hold it. Such situations are there to simulate the weeks or months long battles of WW1 in small areas...) The attack will have to go on. In Alsace Lorraine, German army had launch another offensive. French soldiers held the line one more time, with heavy losses... In Middle-East, things are going a little more hot. British and Ottoman troops are starting to clash... By the end of April, the third battle of the Ardenne comes to an and, with Germany's withdrawal... Belgium is now totaly "German free". Next offensives will surely lead the Entente right into western Germany. Another good news comes from the casualties and moral report: Germany's morale is decreasing. Is that because of the lack of food? Because of the casualties? Whatever the causes, these are indeed good news for the Entente!

March-April 1915. Diplomatic courting goes on... And will go on in following weeks. The goals are still the sames: keeping Italy and Bulgaria as long as humanly possible out of the war. It looks grim for Bulgaria, but Italy might still be convinced not to join. R&D efforts in combat gas and artillery are still on the way. Hopefully, combat gas will soon be ready, for the very pain of the Central powers. As it's time to plan action against the Ottoman Empire in Middle East, as things are quite calm there, some squadrons are sent there by British Empire. The controll over sealanes is once again under total control by the Entente navies. It will help the Entente to act in Balkan or in Middle East in following weeks.
