Hi there, I'm wondering whether some campaign are under refit or not. I know that currently, Iran-Irak is being upgraded to SP4. Any other one, such as Taiwan 58 or Korea?

Actually, externally, it looks like a III but in fact it's completely a new plane internally: new avionics, different performances... It was for the AdlA a brand new plane.

First generation 2000 carry only 4 missiles: 2 530 and 2 Magic II. The 2000-5 or -9 has 6 of them: 4 Micas and 2 Magic II

Oh, it's not that spicy, don't worry... All the more it might be difficult because what we are looking for might not exist! It might go very well whit Gaddafi's ideology of "people in arms" where individualism and all that stuff are not very well seen. And the army suffers from much defiance from the power, affraid (in the past, all the more) of some coup by non-elite and "politicaly sure" units: all that might add prestige, such as squadrons or units names might have been suppressed, and that may be why we do not find much on the web or books. I admit I'm not that aware of libyan military, apart from the basics lines I got there, as it was not my area of work (mine is closer to press and politics, military stuff are just a hobby)

Regarding your PM, as I'm not quite sure mine have been sent: Unfortunately, I'm not able, as I don't have such informations... Those I know in libya might know, but asking by mail is quite spicy. I'll do my best.

I'm wondering if adding navies is relevent... Because IMHO, US and Royal Navies, just like french one, might have been busy in the Atlantic supporting defence of Iceland and Norway, hunting the red fleet and fighting soviet bombers; or doing the same support things in the Mediterrannean sea with Greece, Italy, Spain and Turkey (and why not, Yougoslavia). For the pleasure to fly them, I'm 100% with the addition of navies. For the sake of "realism", I think adding more nato squadrons is better.

Well, my N3 suggestions: - French airforces/airplanes (we do have the SMB2, M3 and MF1) - Perhaps a 1984-85 campaign? Just to have to deal with MiG-29 and Su-27... - Flyable red side would be cool, but it's not a priority for me - More red side squadrons, especially in no-1979 scenarios: there are very few East-german, Polish, Csech or Hungarian planes...

Is there some airbases in Tripoli? Mitiga is quite in the city, and at that time (and since december now) served only for military purpose. And Al Azizyah should be in Tripoli too, if its purpose is to simulate El Gaddafi headquarters... It's actually a part of the city rather than a precise location (except the barracks where Gaddafi used to live that borrow its name from the neighbourhood). I've been working in a diplomatic representation in libya for some times some times ago, I'm quite eager to see this work finished!

It was exactly the case: The Aéronavale was eager to buy some F-18 to replace the ageing F8, but political circles (and Dassault) decided that the navy was to wait to the Rafale. If the navy had bought some F-18, the Rafale program would have lost one of its goal and might have been cancelled. That was what was feared. Therefore, the "Royale" keeped her F-8 until 2000 and most pilots cried when they had to be scrapped.
