  1. I posted this on SimHQ, but I was wondering if the DX Wrapper is just off the shelf wrapper downloaded off the internet? I was hoping someone can identify the author / programmer of the wrapper used by GOG? So I could perform more test using that wrapper if I could get it from the authors web site or code site. Since it seems to work better than the ones that I have already used, based on what three others mentioned about it. IDK, if someone can look into this for me since I don't use gog or anything like it, if they can determine where the directx wrapper came from that gog is using with EAW?
  2. There are old addons and mods from 15 to 20 years ago that should work with the community made v1.28. (Anything that works for the official v1.2) Without looking. I think your talking about the higher revisions of 1.28, like 1.28a, b , c, d. Those, yes will need some type of conversion, but who really knows the specifics anymore. :( It would take research and trial and error. I do know though that some addons are already converted for the later revisions.
  3. Tell us of your experience with it. If you make it out of configuring the game and controllers, and perhaps a bit of eaw.ini manipulation..... The Campaign is probably the funnest part, but its time consuming. Instant missions are a blast / Manually Configured missions are good too. :)
  4. If they get there controls worked out, since EAWv1.28 had a brief period of having poor control support. They should have fun with the game once the controls are worked out. v1.28 should be using the same control setup as v1.2, now that I've read my site. If you post in the GOG EAW forum, could you link my main page? as they are only reading the joystick help doc and not the troubleshoot doc, where the controls help is very much extended. ($9.99 was the price, last I checked its 50% off.)
  5. I recently updated my ACT ToolKit Help Document, with re writes and additional text. It is much easier to read and I've improved the understanding better for Windows 8.1/10 use. After that I did some tests with it to see if performance can be increased in Windows 10 in D3D mode for EAW. (natively, straight with no wrapper program). I have found some Fixes that work to increase speed, but just a bit. ;) This Help Document explains the Microsoft ACT Toolkit and some usage instructions plus my on going testing results. If you like working with the Registry or want to work with Compatibility Toolkit program by testing different settings , This doc is for you! :) Here' s the page from my web site: https://eaw.neocities.org/windows-act-toolkit.html It can get complicated, but if you have questions, please ask them here, and I'll try to answer them. Thanks!
  6. Thank you for your wishes people. Wish you guys a happy new year too and safe one.
  7. Thanks man. I'll add it to the download and replace the file. Hope you get better. Take care!
  8. Anyone know what this could be? This is a Windows Error and not a EAW Error. I had the .....142 this error once but I just can't remember what I did to fix it. :( I don't remember placing any notes on my site either, Ill have to look again. (Nope no notes). Unfortunately, I have been unable to reproduce this error myself, so I can't find a fix for it. I'm thinking he needs to run it in Admin level. By right clicking the the eaw.exe and selecting "Run as Administrator". But I'm un certain. I found that Running as Admin when logged in as an Admin can complicate problematic issues with EAW. To correct this Windows error, Perhaps remove EAW from the location on your HD and clean out the registry with CCleaner (this removes the EAW Windows made entryies that cause problems). Then replace EAW and run it directly from the eaw.exe by clicking on it. Otherwise the Original Poster needs to provide more details and information.
  9. oh yeah, I remember you telling me something like this before. If its too difficult to isolate the finished changes from the current working changes, don't worry about it I guess. I was just hoping to post some updates, that's all.
  10. Hey VBH, Any new EAWPRO archive available for me to post? I forget how long the last update was, but its been awhile. I've since added new feature descriptions to the FXEXE Patch Help Document that are not in the last EAWPRO eaw.exe available for DL. So basically I'm looking for a any minor update to post, doesn't matter how small....just wondering...NP otherwise of course. BTW: (Around 1,000 DLs from 7-15-2019; That's just the EAWPRO, doesn't include the 700 or so of the previous FXEXE archives posted before).
  11. Well I do want to get back to EAW asap. I'll admit once I got stumped on the tool descriptions, usage and tips, I turned to other activities. But I should be able to regain interest once my other obligations are over. I'll ask my question for you in the EAWPRO thread.....
  12. I've been busy with other projects and real life for a very long time. I hope to get back to EAW once the snow falls. I still modify my site from time to time just to correct errors and links. I don't see many posts about EAW users anywhere, so I figure the game has died out or everyones happily getting along with the game and support. :) I'm still planning on continuing and going threw the lenghty list of files and tools I have for DL. There are files in files that should be located else where for DL and easily missed. Plus duplicate files, which I like to weed out. Okay hope all are doing well, miss actively supporting the game and friends....until later.
  13. Hey VBH, You mentioned you took a break and where working on graphical tiles for EAWPRO terrain. So what about other things, anything you can mention?
  14. Really? I didnt want to bother you. But theres some old and new tools in the tool pack, under /3dztools I have a few readmes with some info, but others I do not. If you have time go ahead and DL the tool pack to see what im talking about. I've updated it yesterday I think. Thanks.
  15. Hey, NP. But with the rate of new help is diminishing and my dream of readmes with the short info they require to be helpful to use, is unlikly. But I'll keep pulgging away and the 3dz model doc and tools related. (found more tools that maybe of some help, if you want to DL and take alook), another week and I should have to take a break, so wait a few days.
  16. Found a WindowsXP CDF Manger(works in Win10), Extractor and such in my pile. I've added that to the tool pack. Added a bunch of readme's and some more tools to cover other areas of modifying EAW. I've uploaded and will be uploading updates to the tool pack archive, so give a week to download it again as i may update it several times during a weeks period of time.....and sometimes I upload it several times aswell. Since i don't know how to use all tools, and neither to newbies, there are tutorials and reference material downloadable from my files section to help you out. Don't be afraid to look around into the file archives as some documentation is still hidden within some tools I have not posted in the tool pack yet. Still need help to fill out the readmes if anyoe can help give 1 a description of the tool, and 2 usage, 3 tips and the like to help out and shorten a newbies time using a specific tool.
  17. Re-uppped, fixed a few things. Added many short readmes. This tool pack once mature is to be added here at CombatACE. But right now you'll have to get it at mediafire link above in first post!
  18. Hey, hope to see you around eventually. I'm kinda winding down on EAW myself, been back at it for a month, hope to get more material to work on soon though. :)
  19. I'm sure its a lot of work, and tedious. If you enjoy it, why not right? If the road and other riles are not used, will they not have properties if they are just part of a tile? Or do roads not have different properties than the grass around them?
  20. Just a notice, slight update to the tool pack. No need to re download it though unless your after some CDF extractors and other minor changes. I will be adding more to the pack, but if your gonna re-download it now, could you please offer feedback and provide readmes for some or any tool you know how to use. You can post here or PM me. Thanks. I also sorted out the CDF extraction tools on the files section of the help site. Reduced the archive count and repacked what I had left. Note: The Win98 (CDFRW.exe) extractor will not run on 64 bit systems as its a 16bit program. Other file descriptions added as well.
  21. I think so. However everyone I know plays its safe with v1.2 though. At least to play the Stock Campaign by Microprose.
  22. Its as detailed as those old Microsoft WWII Close Combat games I use to play. I can see the men now marching along a row of bushes.... Looks good and hi-rezzy. :)
  23. I'm not sure if I was clear. The white smoke, the main trail at the end is kinda big. (not the dissipating trail at the very end). Doesn't matter that much, its just what I noticed. No need to worry about it, really. But thanks for the consideration.
  24. The ground strike smoke looks good! The trailing smoke from a plane seems slightly odd, since its so big and dense at the end of the trail. Well its dense for too long of a duration I think, maybe too far back from the plane. But it still looks cool though, I can see where you have thinned it out after the dense trail, however.
  25. I've finally updated the doc with some added install and usage information.
