  1. sebaspons, Okay Thank you for replying to my awkward post. Are you using an older system then if your 32 bit? and older video card?
  2. You will be lucky if you do! EAW hates USB extra gaming devices (like gaming mice and gaming keyboards) / keypads. I think 1.28e has a hack to workaround some of it but you must configure the eaw.ini correctly....Like I said you need a bit of luck with the hardware you use and choose.
  3. What is the description of #8? And the mysterious #7 download? EDIT: For some old info on the Code-Groups unofficial versions like 1.28-1.29 see my EAW Help site. https://eaw.neocities.org/codegroup-patches.html That Help Document (The link above) doesn't include recent changes within the last few years (2016toNOW) to the older versions. I was unable to find the time to gather the info from the old posts that Jel did make about them. However that Help Doc should give you a good idea what to expect.
  4. EAW doesn't like "gaming devices" or extra keypads, as most will try to force themselves to use the first ID in the windows controller panel. (run JOY.CPL) Version 128 or so of the unofficial EAW exe had some fixes for it (but not a full fix). From my experience (and others), unless you can configure the control setup in the 128 eaw.ini correctly. EAW can still refuse to work properly. Latter 128x versions eaw.ini settings changed as well to simplify or properly label the devices and ports , but its still very confusing. EAw needs auto detection removed I guess and a proper in game controller configuration needs to be provided. Anyhow what I'm saying is if you get on any version or type of EAW a working extra keys, or gaming device. Your lucky. :)
  5. lol. WTH. I found a trick too. You have to hit the top of the Computer Case hard, then EAW will load without a shortcut or even clicking eaw.exe :) But seriously. Whats going on with your computer? EDIT: Anyhow I assumed since your posting here you've read my site for help, since it is a help site. If you have not then I can understand now why your having so many problems. Please continue with questions if you have any. Sounds like the place you downloaded those files want you to skip the intro movie....
  6. Well I ran version v1.0.2383.20 of this wrapper quickly. Its GUI is very similar to the DXWND wrappper, except theres some extra settings not in the DXWND. (and many missing, I think) Too similar meaning it might still lag/stutter during flight, I'm hoping this wrapper is better and less demanding. We'll see. It appears you can use the GUI to launch and use the wrapper and EAW, but it insists all you need is the dll and a special ini file that the dll will use. I also seen 3DFX option built in, but it might need the 3dfx dlls. EDIT: I've tested it quickly again, this time with some settings and running EAW in a window. It stutters just like DXWND. So I'm not even going to add it to my help docs, but I'll keep a link to it on my EAW links page. If theres a way to contact the author of this specific wrapper, please let me know, I couldn't find an e-mail addy. I'd like to know how it works with EAW which uses directdraw and direct3d in DX6.0 and since it stutters I need to know if theres a way to stop it from doing that.
  7. Thanks anyhow. The instructions for it seem to be thin. There on that web site somewhere. Its for DirectX Mode too. I think you configure it then place certain dll's and the configuration file into the EAW folder. Like i said before, ill have to look into it later.
  8. Hey VBH, You can link just the help doc page with the file link on it or direct link to the mediafire file. https://eaw.neocities.org/fxexe-patches.html (EAWPRO download link is at the top)
  9. No brave souls to help me with testing it out? I'll get to it, it would just be helpful with some input.
  10. View File EAW Code-Group Standalone Each one of these files can be downloaded separately. You do not need to download the entire large archive. (These packs where originally uploaded and posted by Jel back in 2019 I think.) #1. EAW126.exe: Gives you a 1.26E folder with no addons. The 1.2-E exe is effectively a 1.2 exe with a no CD crack and some other modifications which I can no longer remember. #2. EAW12X-126E.exe: Gives you what is effectively a 1.26E folder with OAW. OAW only has the two "E-" folders available so the user can pick either the 1.26E exe or the 1.2X exe from the code group with the 7217 fix The default ETO theatre is used. #3. 128eFAW2016.exe: Gives you a stand-alone folder with the 2016 version of Finnish Air War. It includes the FAW manager. The EAW exe used is a 1.28e version, dated the 27th November 2016, which was compiled by the code group. #4. EAW129 July2016: Gives you a stand-alone UAW1.29 installation It has the old and new map versions of the 1.29 exe, and 9 different theatres. BoB, DAW, ETO with planesets, Malta, Ray's 2015 ETO, SWOTL, SPAW, SAW, ETO Trains and barges. The "DSP128-9.exe" is provided as the file-manager. There is a file in the LongDirSets folder named "Mediterranean Air War (Malta and North Africa)" which should have been removed as it causes a CTD when selected. DAW and Malta are there in any case. However,DAW has the original dodgy planeset with some aircraft having the wrong nationality. The Malta theatre is just about the same, but has a more realistic planeset. #5. 1.28c_JellyPack.exe: Installs 1.28c with the DirSetExeManagerV5. filemanager. This enables you to select one of three versions of the eaw.exe, and eight theatres in addition to the default 1.28C ETO theatre which had the Allied Carrier. The theatres are DAW, KAW, Malta, Russia-Germany (winter), SWOTL, SPAW, SPAW45 and SAW. #6. 129EAW640x480.exe: This installs the special version of the 1.29 old map exe which uses 640x480 screens. It has a filemanager and a number of experimental WIP theatres that Moggy was working on. These were added to test the exe, but some are of little use as they are incomplete There is also the 1.28c version of VBH's Pacific Tide III. This version of the 1.29 exe was made for modders who want to re-vamp old theatres and use the 640x480 screens, but allowing the additional features of UAW1.29 to be used if required. #7. AcesOverEurope129.exe: This is Emil's old add-on that Modred updated and Jel repacked it into this form. Possible issues: You may need the VB runtime files for the filemanagers and OAW. Let me know if there are any problems Jel Submitter MarkEAW Submitted 06/20/2019 Category EAW - European Air War

  12. I just found this source for a Wrapper, unfortunately I have not tested it as its directions to install and use seems still primitive. From what I gather its designed for old games used on Windows 10. It appears to be coded from several different projects that had goals on improving old games on Windows. (This isn't the DXWND) Here's the web link: https://github.com/elishacloud/dxwrapper If you can help me get the Released program working with EAW, I'll give it a try. I'm hopeful that its better than DXWND and lighter, less demanding.
  13. As far as it being your system. I'd say it is. Its to hard to figure out what could possible be going on with it with out you providing much more information as you go. Plus Its hard to help on the older win7, even though win 7 is a good OS, i dont have it anymore. Hope you get your EAW game up and running though, its a fun game, especially when you can add EAWPRO to it. 160 , due to its complexity and external front-end its hard to recommend it. I use it though for testing, but even i am confused with its gameplay features. I use to have sorta an idea with 140 but its beyond my casual time now. Looking forward the day 160s frontend is fixed into the graphical/informational UI of EAW. With pictures and text to show and explain what is happening on the whim.
  14. Heres a quick fix, it might work. Right click the eaw.exe select compatibitly tab, selct any operation system like win98 or winxp and click apply and okay, wait a second, then right click the eaw.exe again and remove the compatibility check mark, hit apply and okay, wait a sec, then double click eaw.exe to run it. see what happens. EDIT: I know it doesn't make much sense but Windows writes a compat reg entry, at least on win10, even if you don't really keep the tab settings active. Essential your letting windows know about the game and its location on your HD. It could be something else im not familer with too keeping it from running.
  15. It's confusing me too, as EAWPRO can now be placed over v1.0 v1.1 or v1.2. Compatibility of add-ons designed for 1.2 is mostly nill, as conversion needs to be made to them to get them to work with EAWPRO. But that's not your concern.
  16. You do not want to use the Cd installers. Nor do you want to "install" or place the game in the \Program Folders Otherwise Windows wants to stop the game from working. Copy the game folder out of the program files folder and place it some place else, like a 2nd drive or at C: drive root directory. Then uninstall the game and delete the remaining folder from program files. Then go back to the copied game folder and run eaw.exe directly. Should work.
  17. Well I know that EAWPRO version and build of it work. Hasn't been updated in awhile and I was running it fine for a long time, so where others. Where do you have the game "installed"? Did you copy and paste the CD files for a full install or use the included auto-installer on the CD? Check if you have an eaw.ini file in your games main folder.
  18. Directly to the page with the download link on it for EAWPRO. https://eaw.neocities.org/fxexe-patches.html
  19. your missing files I assume Ask Jel for a 129 download. Or maybe he will see this post to help you out. He has a single file download I believe of the un-offical v1.29 done by the CodeGroup rather than many archives to un zip.
  20. Check out 'Screen Stretching' info in the 'SETTING SCREEN RESOLUTION' section of my 'Video Help Document' to maintain aspect ratio of EAW in full screen. This is primarily will pillar black bars on each side of the screen. Other configurations too. https://eaw.neocities.org/video.html
  21. 30 years, lol. I could be so lucky to be healthy or even alive in 30 years. Anyways, my site is archived in a few places so it should be out their in that time someplace. So far all the problems people have with EAW is covered for the last 20 years, technical problems. Not my job for future people when im not around or have no interest. But that was RIBob that mentioned the 30 year thing, not me. heh.
  22. Yeah they put that sign/message up because Dell monkeyed with the Sound Card or something to do with it, usually to get better performance or to save cash. Then standard drivers don't work with it and dell stops support on it. heh.
  23. if you get that error on Win10, me thinks its because you don't have the reg entry in place. Win10 sometimes adds it automatically, sometimes it doesn't. My Troubleshoot Help Document explains this for Win10.
  24. Sounds like its routine what you have done. At least for someone that updates there drivers. I've update my bios until they didn't release anymore, the 5 year support for my motherboard was up. HP i know had or has similier update software and MSI does too for their products. All automated or semi sutomated, after awhile the companys stop support. You must be young or pretty new to computers to not know of driver updates from manufactures. If you build your own computer, you have components from all different companys to get rather than from one location/ web site. Sometimes you find like DELL wont supply drivers anymore, so you identify the hardware and look for the real manufacture that made the part in your pre built computer and find updates for it. You have to be carefully, some companys get hardware and manufacture it out of spec and the original manufacture might have a driver, but it might not quit work. But everythings gotten better since i started with PC computers. Better detection overall. You'll see, your a resourceful type of person.
  25. Yeah DVD is 4.7 gigs or DL 8+ gigs. Not interested in making a DVD, not enough room if I tackle the larger archive. If I had a blue ray I'd make that . But I would just dump my file archive as is into the blue ray, wouldn't even bother picking files to add to the disc. So I'm using the max of 700mb disc images. I used 578mbs so far..... As far as the rest of the lasting of the game. You have to understand that the game needs to be directx and hardware coded for modern machines like win10. Otherwise its still using compatibility. The CodeGroup doesn't know how to do the necessary work. Regardless new documents and etc are reapearing to code old DX games to new levels. EAW is DX6 with input and sound basically DX5. I've updated the request on help coding. I don't know if those guys have gotten any feedback in the past few years or not. For someone intrested in doing this. Anyways If you want a one-click thingy, you'll have to make an archive by yourself or make an iso by yourself. But an automated installer typically are ad supported for free ones, you can try to find one to use/configure. I don't know much about it. Get a folder with EAW v1.0 in it and paste over EAWPRO files. Try to determine which files are not needed and delete them I guess until you have a small footprint of a game and burn that folder to a CD or make a 7z out of it. I have no interest myself as I know the files get updated all the time and would just complicate things. Everyone good luck with the one click install!
