+Cliff7600 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Hi guys! Well, I didn't resist to the temptation of trying this. This is the Mirage Factory RF-4C and I tried a stock ThirdWire F-4B skin on it. After few modifications, here she is! Now it needs some decals and I cannot do that. So, here's my request to the decals makers : I need the vertical tail squadron marking and the fuselage squadron number decals. Maybe few other numbers if you think it's necessary. Is there a decal maker that wants to do that? You choose the USMC recce squad you want, as long as it used that generic USMC grey skin. Thanks for reading :) Cliff Quote

+eburger68 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Cliff: You might want to check the SF2V Air & Ground Expansion Pack. We essentially did the same thing as you to make an RF-4B, and we have two skins for it. There might be something in our version that you could use for yours. Best, Eric L. Howes Quote
+331Killerbee Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 For a Vietnam Era VMCJ-1 or VMCJ-2, A white Tail will do. VMCJ-1 had a "RM" on them. J-2 had a "CY" with a Playboy Bunny on the Rudder. If it's post-Vietnam, VMCJ-1,2,3 and VMFP-3 were the most painted up'd Phantoms in the Marine Corps. There are so many different Tail Paint Jobs that it would take weeks to do them all. RF-4B's of the Marines had 17 different Paint Jobs. The Vietnam-Era ones are the easiest to do. VMCJ-1 had a Standard Tail with a canted "RM" Tail Code on them. VMCJ-2 had a Standard Tail with a canted "CY" Tail Code with a Black Playboy Bunny Symbol outlined in Red on the Rudder. VMCJ-3 had a Standard Tail with a canted "TN" Tail Code with a Dark Green Delta Symbol in front of the Tail Code. 331KillerBee Quote
Spinners Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Slightly OT - I know the USN did not operate the RF-4B but did the USMC RF-4B's ever serve aboard a carrier? Quote
+Soulfreak Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 (edited) yes... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f8/RF-4B_CV-41_1983.JPEG Edited November 11, 2009 by Soulfreak Quote
+Cliff7600 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Hey, if your OT brings such RF-4 picture from Soulfreak everytime, be my guest Spinners, go ahead and OT to the max! Yes those USMC RF-4B tails are quiet numerous and colourfull. I like the Fox from the VMFP-3 as much as Spook (Soulfreak pic). Thank you very much Mr Howes! Your RF-4B skin contains everything needed to make a good mod. My main regret is not being able to use all of your decals because of the "transparent thing" issue (more than 6 decals on the same mesh...) So here's the result, this skin is from eburger68 SF2V Air & Ground Expansion Pack Let's Recce! Quote
