About This File

Mikoyan-Gurevich Ye-2PFM "Faceplate-D" for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

Released 'as is', this is Mikoyan-Gurevich Ye-2PFM 'Faceplate' - featuring a 3D model by KnightWolf45 (the artist formerly known as Cocas).

In the mid-1950's the MiG OKB was tasked in developing a new lightweight supersonic interceptor fighter for the Soviet Air Force and flight-tested two distinct designs in parallel - one with a thin, swept-wing and one with a tailed delta wing. The tailed delta would eventually win out to become the famous MiG-21 'Fishbed' but it's tantalising to consider 'what if' the swept-wing Ye-2A prototype had either won or was considered good enough to also be procured. Anyway, this is the swept-wing Ye-2 as it might have looked in service with the Soviet Air Force and I've also included Egyptian, Mongolian and Parani skins.

Giving the aircraft a service designation is tricky as it was given a provisional designation of MiG-23 but, of course, this conflicts with the swing-wing 'Flogger' that came later. We can't use an even number like MiG-20 or MiG-22 so I've just called it the Ye-2PFM and you can change this to suit your own thoughts on this matter.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Ye-2PFM folder into your Aircraft folder.

2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Ye-2PFM folder into your Decals folder.

3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the Faceplate-GP-9 folder into your Weapons folder.

That's it!

CREDITS

As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.

Huge thanks to KnightWolf45 for creating the Ye-2PFM 3D model a few years ago and to the CAF team for any inputs that followed.

Special thanks also to Coupi for sending me his templates that I've used to create the skins.

Thanks to Paladrian for the MiG-21 pit.

And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

Regards
