Major Lee Posted Sunday at 02:55 PM Posted Sunday at 02:55 PM (edited) For all the aircraft recognition experts out there, let's get a thread going for you to show your expertise. Easy gentleman rules apply. *First to recognize the aircraft from the clue gets to post the next aircraft. The person posting the picture confirms the ID. *Please don't use AI or photo search; this is about what you can figure out. *The clue image can include the entire aircraft, part of it, or a cockpit image, whatever you like, but give enough to figure it out. First image, guess the bird I'm sitting in: Edited Sunday at 03:35 PM by Major Lee Added information 2
yakarov79 Posted Sunday at 07:08 PM Posted Sunday at 07:08 PM ok. I got it, but do not have an image for the next ID...so I will pass... but what you see in the picture above is all connected... in a way... 1
Nightshade/PR Posted Monday at 02:06 AM Posted Monday at 02:06 AM After racking my brain and looking at it over & over, based on the shape of the panel & canopy configuration, I'm guessing it's a P-51B. Doesn't look like a D-Model canopy from the inside. 1
Major Lee Posted Monday at 02:49 AM Author Posted Monday at 02:49 AM @Nightshade/PR Your time frame is correct, but it is not a P51 variant.
DoctorQuest Posted Monday at 04:51 PM Posted Monday at 04:51 PM Spitfire? I see camo on the nose. (Or I'm just seeing things....a real possibility) What ever it it I don't think that's a stock cockpit for the time frame you mention. 1
Nightshade/PR Posted Monday at 04:56 PM Posted Monday at 04:56 PM (edited) I should have gone with my first guess: P-47 Razorback Edited Monday at 04:57 PM by Nightshade/PR 1
yakarov79 Posted Monday at 05:22 PM Posted Monday at 05:22 PM P-39Q my hints were...Bell Aircobra....Bell Cobra will go easy on you... 1
JulioJunqueira Posted Monday at 07:54 PM Posted Monday at 07:54 PM It seems to me that is the Curtiss P-40E Warhawk (Kittyhawk IA). 1

It can be a pic of exterior of the plane, a small section if the plane is more well known own, or even the entire aircraft if it is obscure or rare. It can be part of the the interior or cockpit, just enough to give someone a chance at identifying the craft. Go for it!
