Chugster Posted Saturday at 03:40 PM Posted Saturday at 03:40 PM So I am looking at one of the RAF Phantom mod packs here and the instructions say to remove original TW aircraft (i have the FG1 dlc as well). What my issue is there seems to be a set of F-4Ks and Ms in almost every folder in the Saved Games section, so do i need to remove the models from every folder i find them in or just from the NA folder as thats the latest expansion?
Wrench Posted Saturday at 05:51 PM Posted Saturday at 05:51 PM just rename the folder. xF-4M with luck, that should do because of the conflict between the folder name and aircraft main ini name. Leave it as is, just rename the folder. Now, the game engine is STUPID and it may rewrite itself The other option is simply delete those folders and, again, with luck the STUPID game game won't reinstall them
Gepard Posted Saturday at 06:31 PM Posted Saturday at 06:31 PM The other way is to open the file F-4M.ini with notepad editor. Then delete all lines and save the file.
allenjb42 Posted Saturday at 06:34 PM Posted Saturday at 06:34 PM Or just rename the mod aircraft, so you have the original TW aircraft and the new mod ones. Given that the original ones will just be ab .ini file in your mod folder you're not saving that much space by deleting them. Wrench's mods, if they're an aircraft that may also be available, are a good example of how to do it.
Wrench Posted Saturday at 07:57 PM Posted Saturday at 07:57 PM or, open the main ini and remove that statement for a cockpit. that will make it 'disappear' from the aircraft selection screen, but NOT totally remove it.
dtmdragon Posted Monday at 07:54 PM Posted Monday at 07:54 PM (edited) Hi @Chugster the latest and greatest RAF Phantom mod is the F-4K/M/J United Kingdom pack I put together a few years ago, so I presume you are referring to it, and if not, grab it! Because it combines and builds on the best work of some of Combat Ace's most talented Phantom modders and it's a one stop shop for RAF Phantoms. The intention behind asking you to "remove the existing (RAF Phantom) folders before installing this mod" is to remove any previous mods sitting in those aircraft folders as they wont be compatible with this one. If you haven't modded or added to the stock game RAF Phantoms then you dont need to delete anything. This mod is designed to just over-ride them and the main ini files get locked to 'read only' so the game cant regenerate and over-ride them back to the stock version. dtmdragon Posted Monday at 08:05 PM Posted Monday at 08:05 PM (edited) In terms of what game to install it in, by having SF2NA essentially all your strike fighter titles (SF2, SF2V, SF2E etc) are upgraded to the NA version even though they have a diffrent main menue screen. So they are all the same with the same stock TW content. Install this or any mod into whichever mods folder for the game that you routinely play. Personally I use the SF2NA folder for general global mods of diffrent aircraft but my SF2V folder is tailored for vietnam era only and my SF2E folder has a Cold War European theme.
