LOMAC doesn't do it for "real", it's a scripted thing with a special key press. They put it in there because so many people wanted to do it.

The SFP series has no such option.

You're not serious, are you? The Cobra is easy to execute in SF, even on hard flight settings. Just fly exactly as it's done in real life.

Fubar is right, I have done it many times already in SF. Maybe he will explain the procedure.

'Nuff said. Kreelin, the person whom you should thank for this masterpiece, is a friend of mine, and has done a lot for the community.

But in all fairness, here's how you perform a Cobra. Start in straight and level flight below 350 KIAS (ideally, around 250). Pull up abruptly, past Max permissible Alpha (you'll probably hear both the Alpha and the Over G tones as you do so). At the point where airspeed bleeds off enough so that you start experiencing wing rock, push down on the stick and firewall the throttles to regain airspeed. You should be back in a straight and level flight mode.

okay done the vertical tailslide,

but how can i do a inverted reverse?

so i can get the enemy behind me....

like going inverted then pulling back..

then at th IR tone launch a missile straight at the enemy's nose cone.

and another variant,

i dunno what its called, i could call it a quick bank.

banking @ 90 degrees then abruptly point the nose at the enemy positioned at the 3/9 line..

i did all i could to achieve this but in WoE all i get is a tight bank.

i only fantasize of my flanker going straight and the nose is pointing 90 degrees up,

neither climbing or falling.....

ive seen it done on LOMAC.....

low altitude cobras even..

The Cobra is of dubious value in a dogfight. Yeah, stand still so that you make a nice, sitting target for cannon shells, or a non-maneuvering one that exposes both exhaust nozzles and leading edge signatures to an IRM. Trust me, this has been proven to be the case, though I cannot reveal my sources

They (the Sukhoi bureau) actually played with rearward facing IRMs because that manuever does not allow enough time for a IRST or missile-mounted seeker to aquire lock.

The real advantage of being able to exceed Max Alpha is during a lag pursuit at a speed slow enough to allow one to momentarily pull lead on the target for a cannon shot. Both the Su-27 and the MiG-29 have excellent laser designator/range finders for their cannon.

yup good point..

thats what i was telling the blokes who love watching flankers cobra-ing.

only good thing for this maneuver is to get behind of someone who was behind you.

usually afete every mission my virtual testpilot curiousity kicks in so bad at times,

so i end up usually burning (due to aircraft speed limitations, and every plane has different limitations)

or getting involved in an accelerated stall, which in most aircraft, irrecoverable situation

i observed the Altitude indicator on the left side...

it climbed from 1900+feet to 3333 feet....

doesnt look like cobra at all...

cabra is ultra high AoA but with no increase or decrease in altitude

I suggest that you check out the link to the Su-35 air show video that Kreelin provided, and quit while you're ahead.

But that's only a suggestion. You see, we don't have any rules against members making fools out of themselves

Cobra -able ?

Well SF series physical engine is not perfect but one can do a lot of good things ;)

So if you want to compare reality and in game...

A real SU-35 in a airshow

http://www.dailymotion.com/_kreelin_/video/2310507

And the SU-27 in WOE (pay attention at my last "cobra")

http://www.dailymotion.com/_kreelin_/video/x18j50_puggie

how did you do that?

i couldnt do it in WoE......

under what airspeed and altitude did you do that?

Posted

okay some of you can do the cobra in your WoE.

i ust cant do it in my WoE.

are there other versions of flankers available now?

the flanker version i have is v1.00

is ther a differrence there?

uhhmm can you send to me a copy of your Su-27_dat.ini file to me at my e-mail address?

here:

touge_drifter1@yahoo.com

or can you post it here?

i dunno how you may have tweaked sumthin in your flanker,

bu i just want to try it in my WoE.

i have tweaked the weight and elevator movement but still am not close to lipping it backwards a bit like you did in your video

i'll link my post-tweaking cobra attempt in a few hours...

the maneuver @ 0:28 was after i tweaked the inertia somwhere on the Su-27_data.ini.

any improved FM that i could use?
