It took me a little digging to find the old, stored mission zips from FA.

I present to you, quoted below, the opening briefing taking directly from the first mission, from Wingman #1:

From "The Wingman" series of books, by Mack Maloney......reccomended reading for 'airborne fantasy'...

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: (you can skip it if you want, but you'll be missing the reasons for what happened....)

It has been almost five years since the end of the Third World War. A conflict that has destroyed most of Western Europe, leaving Germany, parts of France, Belgium, and others germ and chemical wastelands. A war in which the NATO forces had soundly beaten the Warsaw Pact into the ground. A war that cost millions of people their lives, homes, and contries. A war that the freedom loving peoples of the West lost.

Due to a deeply hidden Soviet mole in the American government, a traitor greater than any in histroy - the Vice President of the United States. He had murdered the President, Senator and Congressman, and their families. Then he opened the Strategic Defense Shield, and allowed thousands of Soviet ballistic missiles to rain down on the central heartland of the country. Millions died, and the region west of the Mississippi River to the Rocky mountains became known as 'The Badlands'. To compound his treachery, he then surrendered the country to the Russians and their allies, destroying all our weapons, both here and abroad. Our personell in Europe had to return to America any way they could...

The country was broken up into 'Zone's under the New Order. Some, like the WestCoasters, who didn't suffer large scale ICBM attacks, have keept some the the American spirit and heart alive, and kept the invaders at bay.

On the east coast, the Russians and their new American allies, quickley moved to stop the reformation of any sembelence of the American Way. Speaking of the "United States" or even possessing an American flag were offences punishable by instant death.

Others, like the Mid-Atlantic Conference States (everything from Pennsylvania and Delaware to Georgia) and firmly in the Russian pocket, getting military and economic aid from their foreign masters. The Republic of Texas, has been able to keep themselves free of the occupation by force of arms. In the northeast, New York state is a 'catch as catch can' conglomeration of 'free enterprise' (read-pirates, slavers, drug & gun runners, black marketeers, etc). While the Northeast Economic Free Zone, centered on Boston and containing most of New England, is a fairly stable, and profitable entity. In the North Central region, New Chiago is in the grasp of "The Family", organized crime lords.

As long as most of the New Order rules are followed, you get to live.

Such is the state of America as our story opens...

After fighting in the largest battles ever seen by man, Major Hawk Hunter, USAF, former 'Thunderbird' pilot, former astronaut canditate, certified genius and 'esp' sensitive (he calls it "the feeling"), has returned to a devestated America. Having had enough of what he's seen, he has retreated to the mountains of Vermount, hiding out and living day to day for over 2 years. This solitude is shattered one morning by the sound of an airplane engine. He watches and waits, and finally sees an old Piper Cub trailing a banner: "HUNTER - REPORT TO OTIS - JONES". He packs his meger belongings and begins the trek to Cape Cod, to meet with his old commander, friend and one time leader of the USAF 'Thunderbirds' team.

Two weeks later, Hunter has arrived, and offered a job with the Zone Air Patrol, commanded by General Seth Jones. They are the air arm of the NorthEast Ecomonic Zone, flying and fighting for a paycheck, airborne mercenaries. As long as the Zone remains clear of air pirates, and Air Convoys can fly back and forth from the West Coast to the East, carrying vital goods and supplies. Many of the convoys ply the airways from Free Canada to the NEEZ have been set upon by a new breed of bandit - the air pirate. These lawless devils will cut a single plane off from escape and either force it down to rob, killing the crew and passangers, or just destroy in for spite. The ZAP's job is to prevent this within the Zone. Other, hired guns escort the convoys back and forth. And because Hunter has followed this man to hell and back, he quickley agrees to accept the job; that plus his old T-Bird and 16th TFS squadron mates Ben Wa and JT Toomey are also here.

And the fact that the General has 'bribed' him with the last surviving F-16 'Falcon' - freshly repainted in T-Bird red, white and blue. It's like coming home.

The ZAP is composed mostly of older, low tech aircraft such as the A-7 'Corsair II', some T-38's, older 1950's vintage jets like the F-104, and a few F-4 'Phantoms'. Most of these were bought from the Wright Patterson Aircraft Company, from the old mothballed fleet stored there. WPAC sells to anyone, probably including the various clans of air pirates lurking around the Badlands. Hunter acquires one of the last F-111's for the General, who takes many unauthorized recon flights deep into Mid-Ak territory, because he KNOWS they are planning to 'annex' the NEEZ, just like they did in Tennessee, capturing Fort Knox and the gold supplies, making the Mid-Ak's one of the most powerful and richest regions in New Order America.

Trouble is brewing....

For you guys looking for the books (at least the 1st 6 or so... there are 13 or 14 in total), be advised they are mostly out of print. You might find some shopping around the Web, or scrounging used book stores. Good Luk!!

Nice A-12!!! that'll be an interesting addition, when finished!

Lucifer Crusade you ask??

OVER THE ATLANTIC,

WEST OF THE AZORES

DATE : 6 years plus, after WW III

LOCAL TIME : 14:00

WEATHER : Scattered clouds

The Circle War is over...

But Hawk Hunter, ace fighter pilot, has left the devastated shores of what was once the Untied States, and begun a search for justice and vengeance on the Soviet agent, the mad Viktor Robotov. Hawk left America the same day the war ended; heading back to New York and retrieving his precious F-16. How Hawk knew that Viktor was heading for Europe and the Mediterranean is anybody guess -- perhaps his extra-sensory 'feeling' gave him the lead.

Now we must see what's going on here, on the other side of the Atlantic, a place with which New Order America has been out of touch with since the end of the War...

The Ace Wrecking Crew, 'Crunch' O'Malley and ElvisQ, are searching for Major Hawk Hunter under orders from General Dave Jones, PAAC commander.

Having left the American east coast some hours behind Hawk, they are following the logical flight path across the Atlantic to the Azores Islands, and the abandoned USAF base at Lajes. Their orders are to try to convince Hawk to return to the States and continue the work there in rebuilding, or to give him all their assistance in getting Viktor.

But something IS happening here, on the far side of the Atlantic...

If FA runs in XP, perhaps I should upload the Wingman mission set back to my site!!

Don't remind me of those flapping pyrimads!!!! You know how long it took me to stack bunkers, one on top the other, to even get a semblance of the Giza Plateau, when I built that for FA!!!?????

And how'd we get all those little boats to tow the Sara, if we were to try it in the SF series!!?? Or get the Gibralter Defence Force Toro's to land on her!!

I am not at home right now and between helping the wife PCS etc it will be awhile before I get it out. Unless some miracle occurs and I get some time to finish tweaking it with wrench and MJ.

Any interest in these? F-16I Sufa without the CFT's. KF-16C Blk 32/52. I got a few more details to work on. Decals for the Korean Vipers. Couple painting items on the F-16I.

Hey, I wouldn't mind a Block 60! Though I'd miss the CFTs.

We're training UAE guys right now...that Block 60 is amazing!

D'oh! Didn't realize you updated it.. Will D/L it after my forum runs..

Falcon

PS. Could the MF F-16 cockpit work in your block 50?

Sure can, delete the old pit, copy the MF pit over, then copy over the cockpit.ini and the avionics.ini from the aircraft you took the pit from. Make sure you rename them to this....

F-16C_COCKPIT

F-16C_AVIONICS

Then you are set. They are not the most correct pits but until we get a later pit that is what I do.
