Hi there,

I have a problem using the AIM-54 Phoenix.

When my F-14 radar is tracking a target it´s normaly locking onto it only in a range of about 8 miles or less. Not the good one for a 100 miles missile.

How can I manage it that the Phoenix ist locking onto a target at a much greater distance?

Also the radar of my F-14 misses in A/A-mode any TWS capability.

Is there a chance to solve these problems?

ThanX 4 help

First, what version of the Tomcat? The original version uses old avionics and boresight, the new uses TWS and ACM.

The automatic lock for boresight and ACM have short ranges that are useless for the phoenix.

Either one, you have to manually select and lock the target in search mode. Once locked it will switch to boresight mode at a longer range, then you can fire the missile. The only difference with new avionics is that it will switch to TWS once you lock.

Uh... there is no standard in-game F-14A. All the F-14s are user mods. Also, have you tried using the "Page Down" key to increase your radar range and "Page Up" key to change radar modes?

ThanX 4 your help.....managed it.

Is there in any weapons pack the AIM-54C ECCM also known as AIM-54C+ existent?

Tomas

the weapons pack includes the AIM-54C. It doesn't go past that so the 54C+ and the various blocks and ECCM's are not here. Have to leave some chance for the Migs........

There's a tutorial on "How to Use the Radar" in the Knowledge Base:

Using Radar

Mind you, it's designed for use on "Hard" mode, but the keystrokes are the same. This should answer several people's questions I've seen of late.

I actually looked in the manual (that what's inside the folder "Manual" -- the game manual on pdf). It really dosen't say too much; WoE's concentrates on the Eagle's radar, but give a lot of good, basic information.

Remember: why do you think they're called 'radar guided missiles'????
