FalconC45 Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 There's a very interesting book on the development of the Sidewinder (no stay with me here) called 'Sidewinder: Creative Missile Development at China Lake'. It was basically developed in the engineers spare time with surplus materials and samples from manufacturers, as they'd been told explicitly not to try and develop a heat seeking missile as it was too complicated. Also gives you a good insight into the capabilities of the different models, e.g. why the 9B is so useless!Well worth a read if you can find a copy on Amazon Amazon has it.. Too expensive: 94 to 189 bucks. Falcon Quote
+column5 Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Well we were not able to offer up any new Crusaders for Christmas, but I just had some excellent news. Back on Saturday I was finally able to get in touch with Pedro, who modeled the original F-8s and cockpits. Not only is he very supportive of our upgrade project, but he sent me the Max files for all of the cockpits. This will reduce the time needed to finish our version 2.0 Crusaders immensely! So we owe Pedro a lot! Drink something in his honor tonight! Quote
