+FastCargo Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 As a former 'ridge runner' I can tell you the temptation is strong to minimize your ridge crossing height and the natural tendency is to get lower. In rolling terrain especially because it becomes difficult to estimate just how low in the valleys you can go. More than a few guys have pulled birds nests out of their aircraft because they were trying to be the best terrain followers they could... He's lucky, considering he's a single engine aircraft.
