WarlordATF Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 I did some tweaking to my test raptor and as i hit Mach 3.4 at 36000 ft and my plane burst into flames. Anyone else run into this or is there something i need to adjust? I only changed this section... [FlightControl] StallSpeed=56.59 CruiseSpeed=1088.00 ClimbSpeed=1600.48 CornerSpeed=771.6 MaxG=46.0 MaxSpeedSL=2366.8 MachLimit=8.6 PitchDamper=0.4 RollDamper=0.4 YawDamper=0.3 GunBoresightAngle=-1 RocketBoresightAngle=-5 I'm gonna try this at a higher alt and see if that makes any difference, but does anyone have any suggestions/ideas? Ok this is a simulation, so anything is possible right? CD0MachTableDeltaX=0.40 CD0MachTableStartX=0.00 CD0MachTableData=1.774,1.000,0.876,3.641,2.797,2.415,2.096 I think the answer is somewhere here though I cant interpret it. Quote
Dreamstar Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 that happens with the Talon if you slam on the cans at altitude... fireball central Quote

There was this thread about making the Mig-29 faster... so my guess is it governs the fuselage resistance at high speed, if you increase the speed beyond what the fuselage can endure then Ka-boom, like the F-15 has a dash speed of Mach 2.54 but sustained speed is Mach 2.3. Of course its just a hunch as it is beyond me to decipher those numbers. Quote

+Spillone104 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 After some flight test with the NF-104 I've found that at high speed the engine overheat and explode causing the same problem as the Talon and Raptor. New Guy Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Same thing happens with me. I tampered F-14's MaxSpeedSL and replaced the engines with F-15's to make it faster, and it went kaboom when in burner (at all altitude) Not sure what caused it though... Quote
PaperArtillery Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Um...hate to be a LO-MAC player jumping into the wrong forum, but shouldn't Mach 3.4 be a fireball for any normal fighter anyways? The SR-71 reached Mach 3.2 and that was only at obscenely high altitudes...I doubt an F-14 or -15 would be able to get remotely close to that kind of speed without some major issues. Although I guess the point of this forum is just for fun, so I can't complain. Quote

Zero-lift drag coefficient across a range of speeds beginning at 0.0 Mach and continuing in increments of 0.4 Mach. The values beyond 1.2 Mach are way too low. Quote

The values beyond 1.2 Mach are way too low. I suppose it's the thing that happened with my F-14. My F-15 (still stock) are fine when I left it in burner for long Quote
