Those fuel tanks were carried by MiG-23s are long range ferry tanks. Those fuel tanks are not meant to be used in combat.

Must be nice to be able to walk around that place. Last trip I made, the Mig-29 was not to be seen anywhere. (This was the reason we took the bus tour, (Only eight of us, it was Christmas Eve; The Air Force One displays were cool, but really wanted to see that Fulcrum)

They put the Mig-29 up this year. The one outside of a research building they got is a Mig-29UB, so there are 2 at WPAFB.

Dave, can you get pictures of those Fulcrums? Memorial Day Weekend of '07, my CAP Squadron made a trip to WPAFB. My true reason for going: Seeing that Fulcrum. Of course, it wasn't up yet, so I was pissed until I say the Cold War hanger.

i was kinda inspired by this picture.

 

 

while not perfect it was inspired by rather than a copy proper.

It is made for the MLD but should work ok with most of the MF Mig-23s

Yes it's true, MiG-23 can use 3 PTB-800 in ferry variant. But in long range combat MIg-23 can use 3 PTB-800 on wings an centerline,

pylons are dropable with FT. I read this in ORIGINAL MiG-23 Pilot manual.
