Yeah, elephant, I think the scorpio is such a lethal looking sign, that it is used a lot.

But perhaps you can find a more old fashioned, more naive kind of illustration?

Flying as a lone Wolf this Morning, I spotted a little Formation of three Fokker E.V near our Airfield, and I decided to fly a little escort for them. Never had the fun to fly this wonderful Plane in Game 'till now, but it's September '18 and my Jasta 11 will get this unique designed Craft soon...

Andy73,

Is that DVII skin a stock one?

It is quite stunning!

On the way to school on the bus this morning, I was listening to music on shuffle. Then suddenly the OFF Score came on - and since then this morning, I have decided to make a renewed effort to get back to the skies! That song really is a beautiful piece - it can make me want to play OFF as soon as I hear it.

Man, have I missed this game!

Now there's a flamer!

Er, by that I mean a man who is flaming!

No, that's not quite right, either.

That dude is hot!

No, still not right.

How about, "Da plane, da plane, it is on feeer!"

Oh, I give up. :blink::grin:

Time to take the Fokker E.V to the skies again, I thought, and gave it a bash.

We clashed with angry S.E.5a Viper (very dangerous), and shot 2 of them down.

Our Jasta 24 made it a nice co-op of Fokker D.VII and Fokker E.V.

We also brought down 2 R.E.8 bombers. But both, S.E.5s and R.E.8s togethe,r

also shot down two E.V and 2 D.VII - I guess that's what they call a stalemate.

Olham I am always always amazed by visual quality of your screen shots!

I know you are a PhotoShop wiz - do you "filter" or "touch up" your screenies before you post them here?

I will say probably not and, in that case, I want a computer/graphics card just like yours!

Posted (edited)

Duke, I do things like "Auto-Contrast" or changes of brightness.

Then I often do local sharpening on just a few parts.

But my screens were not that different, when I did not do this stuff yet.

My graphic card is an ATI RADEON HD4870 (1GB), which you should get rather cheap now.

The newer cards are of course even better, like the ATI 6870 for example.

What card do you use right now?

Duke, the card should be doing good, I guess. But I never had any NVidia cards.

A friend of mine sent me this screenshot from his NVidia menue (German of course).

You should get there, if you make a right-click on your desktop.

The first point under "3D Applications" (or "3D Settings") should contain the choice

for to use the application settings or not.

If you found that, make sure, that you do NOT want to use the application setting (from CFS3),

but the values you have set up in your card's menue. So it would be tick-box 2 or tick-box 3 in

his graphic. If you choose 3, you can adjust the slider towards quality.

That should be Anti-Aliasing 8x, and Anisotropic Filtering 8x or even 16x.

After the death of my long time "serious" pilot, it was big fun today, to do something pretty different.

OFF still has things to discover for the first time. I was flying a campaign with the rank "Unteroffizier"

in a German campaign for the first time, and so - first time - had to follow another leader.

That caused complications right at the start - I wasn't used to starting somewhere in the middle,

and almost rammed another Albatros!

Then keeping formation was also difficult - my bird was always faster than all others.

But then it was also fun - I didn't have to care for everyone; I just fought my own fights.

Flying around in a nameless craft, unburdened by the ace reputation and the weight of many hours

flown and victories won, I felt free as an - Albatros!

Also very rare for me: flying in winter time. I hate autumn and winter grey weather.

But OFF surprised me with a perfectly beautiful winter's day, and it was a joy to fly through it!

End of April 1918. I made me this rather simplistic skin with my zodiac sign, the ram;

to fly with Josef Jakobs and Carl Degelow in the black Jagdstaffel 7.

Really great pic, Well done,:good:

All looks very familiar to me, Sir. Would you perchance be flying for Jasta 19 there? :bye:

Almost!

It's Jasta 17, flying from Frescaty, near Verdun. Current date: 13 February 1917.

Are you also there?

Ah, so you are looking to fly with Julius then.

No, Jasta 19 is still at Buhl-Lorraine a little further east than Metz, but I am flying at exactly that time. In fact my last mission with Lt. Salzer was on 13 Feb 1917 - but we patrolled south over Colmar.

I will look out for Jasta 17 when we are next in the Nancy area! :salute:

I don't know yet, who will be my next "serious long-time pilot", TaillyHo; he is just one of the candidates.

But it feels good to know, that you are flying at the same time in more or less that same region.

Wow, we had a tough fight over your airfield, TaillyHo. Escadrille 88 were in the area, and their yellow-black

bands, and the yellow snake suit their aggressive fighting style. Man, we have been curving high and low,

round and round. But then I got mine down.

I'm not sure I've had the 'pleasure' of Esc 88's company, Olham - certainly they are not regular visitors to our area. Perhaps they become so in the coming months (?)

Jasta 19 seem more often to cross swords with Esc 81, 49, 75 and 29. :bye:

Jasta 32, La Jolie Ferme, Spincourt - 5. Mai 1917

Today, we made our transfer to La Jolie Ferme in the Verdun area.

Flying by map, I followed the railway line to Spincourt, over Metz and Jarny.

Then I saw the two airfields: Spincourt, and my new home, La Jolie Ferme.

The whole flight had taken half an hour - no enemy activity in the whole area.

Funny - I have made another new pilot for Jasta 32, cause they are one of the few units flying the

Albatros D.V with the early "hunchback" - and now I realised, that he is only flying 16 days later.

So I guess I will delete this second feller, and work my way through these 16 days with the first

Jasta 32 pilot. Somehow, the early D.V has a special touch with that headrest - even though it

wasn't like much by the pilots, and usually got removed in the field.

We had a wonderful fight against 3 SPD VII from Guynemer's "Storcks", and I must say, I was glad

that we outnumbered them 5:3, otherwise we might have lost a pilot. Those French pilots performed

a wonderful fight, and had they used more energy fighting tactics - they would have got away.

The SPADs were all over the place, and we could only kill two, because we worked tightly together.
