A basic question about mixture control:

Since I always realise, that the Albatros power reduces at higher altitude, I'd like to try

the mix control myself.

What must I press at HIGHER altitudes - "minus" or "plus"? Must it be fatter or less fat?

(Now some may find me stupid - which I am, technically.)

Hey, GAW Your problem sounds to me, as if your planes always fly with mix for high altitudes?

Cause then, what Winder says, would make sense in your case?

As you climb, the air thins, so to keep engine Air/Fuel mixture correct you need to lean out the Fuel - you do this by Ctrl-Minus - I normally find most craft in CFS3 are optimal two or three clicks from full lean (engine cut-out) and of course Ctrl-Plus enriches the Fuel.

Polovski,

Cyborg Evo FF, which I believe is the same one you use.

I am also suffering the dive on warp exit in 1.26 flying the SE5A and the Albatross DI.

I will apply the hotfix and report back probably tomorrow.

Thanks

Guys if this persists I need more information:

Please contact us on the support E-mail system and quote your order number and then:

1) Attach the latest Campaign mission file found in \CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\missions\historical - OFF_Camp_Mission.xml

2) Attach the latest weather file in\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\weather - OFFDynamicMissionWeather.xml

3) Confirm your version (check in workshops lower right) and that you have loaded the hot fix after 1.26 Patch.

4) Relate how you are starting the mission.

Do not post all this here - simply send it all to:

support@overflandersfields.com with your name and order number.

Hey Winder,

I was curious about this, so I tried to test it myself last night. I will gather up the stuff you ask for this evening and send it. My test flight was the last mission I flew last night.

I used to fly warp when I first started playing OFF3, and never had a problem. I haven't flown warp in a long time. But last night on the last mission I flew, I tried warp. I flew a Pup, in clear weather, with manual mixture and set for altitude, and I kept going into warp and then out to see what would happen. It didn't always do it, but sometimes when I came out, I was pointing straight down. I hope you will be able to see this in the files you ask for.

Anyway, I just wanted folks to know that it is happening to others (I'm flying 1.26+hotfix). Doesn't matter to me, as I don't fly warp otherwise. I was just curious.

And, I use a Saitek Av8r.

For what it's worth, I flew about 10 missions yesterday in Tripes and N17s, after applying 1.26 but before applying the 1.26 Hotpatch. I warped a lot, and never observed this pitch problem. In other words, for me at least the warp function seemed unchanged, and worked fine.

I use TIR and fly with a Logitech Force 3D Pro stick.

Try the Spad VII in any campaign sortie at highest altitude setting in the workshop. Seems it's more pronounced with this fm.

For what it's worth...

The ONLY time I have this problem is when I'm flying an escort (which someone incorrectly called Close Air Support) mission and I warp from the airfield through numerous closely-spaced waypoints to the point where I'm supposed to meet the bombers/recce planes (who never are there).

When it comes out of warp ONLY ON THESE MISSIONS and ONLY AT THIS POINT IN THE MISSION, I'm going up very fast (once I was actually inverted) with a red warning that I had exceeded the limits of the aircraft and I have to chop the throttle and push the nose down very hard (oddly, it slows down when I push the nose down).

At this point the map also is off, sending me to a way point behind my own lines. I have to adjust my way point headings to send me me back to where I was going.

It happens in every plane I fly, which is all the Brit planes and the Noop 17. And it happens in every type of weather.

And it happens every time I have a "Close Air Support" mission but in no other types of mission.

I've always been able to correct this but it really should be addressed.

I fly on auto mix (heck, we have auto start, so why not?) and use a Saitek Evo Force.

It's not a deal-breaker and I've come to expect it. But it would be nice if it could be fixed.

Hope that info helps you track it down. My (totally uneducated) guess is it has something to do with how close the initial waypoints are set up in those missions in order to gain altitude.

Good luck with it and thanks for checking it out!

O.......thanks for the thoughts. Lean (minus) at higher altitudes, rich (plus) for lower altitudes. Having more than enough on my hands to begin with I leant on auto-mix to take a bit of weight....but of course the real deal guys had to cover it all....so maybe I should too....in any event, whether auto-mixed or manual....I still pitched......flying with a CH Thrustmaster FF Topgun. I'll give Winders suggestions a go..maybe the altitudes a factor..thanks devs for all you do.........this flys better and better. Cheers all.....GAW

FWIW, I'm not seeing any warp/dive issue with 1.26 patch and hotfix in campaign mode (flying the camel). All settings on normal (except pilot never dies) and at or below 10,000 ft.

For those with this pitch issue - what OS are you using?

Please Post OS , System specs and Slider settings for OFF

Finally goto workshops and press the 'Set to Defaults' button in Maintenance and see if the problem persists.

For a workaround:

Thanks Gaw - do me a favour - in:

\Campaigns\CampaignData you will find a file called OFFlog.txt

Can you send that to the support e-mail please - do this right after a mission that has the warp issue.

In fact send it together with the following file:

The latest Campaign mission file found in \CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\missions\historical - OFF_Camp_Mission.xml

Hi Winder/Pol.

I have windows XP SP3, MSFFB stick, Nvidia Geforce 8600gt 256mg card, 4 gig ddr2 ram, AMD 64 3200+ cpu, 22" monitor, Asus motherboard. Saitek pedals and Quadrant. Sliders set to 4,3,3,4,1.

I use auto trim everytime and manual mixture and never had an issue with this prior to 1.26.

I'm patched to 1.26 then the hot fix and it still happens. I will try and fly a mission tonight and get the files off to you. I will also try resetting things as said after i get the file's first and then try again. I will also try the mixture setting you said WM using the key pad instead of my quadrant just in case there is a difference.

AP can you try without auto trim please?

Hi Pol/Winder,

I just flew all these mission and recorded all this stuff for you "THEN" i saw this last post by you Pol... damn it...lol

You are right, thats the problem. I tried my pup without auto trim and the problem was gone. I turned it on and off several times through two different flights with my pup and the problem came and went each time i turned it on and off.

I new we'd get to the bottom sooner or later. I did mean to try this the other day when i believe you mentioned it then, but i ran out of time, then forgot.

It is one of my usual procedures just to turn it on, never thought it would become a problem.

Why didn't it cause problems before 1.26 and is it fixable?

Trim as you know can't be set on the ground without several test flights in a row to get it right. Of course we don't get that Luxury in sims so i figured autotrim would save the mucking around of doing it in flight all the time, it's not like the pilot's back then were able to adjust it while flying along,(well in the majority of their planes anyway) unlike today.

I haven't had time to test the Camel and N17 yet but i'm sure the reports will come flocking in.

Thanks Aussie Pilot you have made my day - we will see if we can find out why Auto Trim causes this.

OK good thanks for trying AP.

Autotrim was definitely not tested as many a/c did not have trim for the most part, and others could not be turned into a placid a/c that's part of the fun anyway.

Just to fill out the picture, I got the warp-wobblies last night ( Tripe 2 guns ) once out of the 5 times I used it in a mission. I don't use trim; I came out of warp going UPWARDS in excess of 400mph ( speedo was maxed out), altimeter going clockwise real fast, blue sky forwards; chopped throttle, max rudder side-to side, & then I was OK. Was about 3000 ft higher up than my patrol!

Can live with it; kinda fun!

I think your situation may be the result of the flight dynamics of the tripe. This is a tail-heavy plane. I've flown it a few times in MP, and get the result you describe right as I enter the game sometimes.

As for the warp issue, I tested the auto-trim solution last night and that seems to be the cause to me. Without auto-trim, I couldn't ever induce a problem, and with it, problem every time.
