I like very little metal because while I enjoy the music, what some of the groups call "singing" irritates me. Many of the groups listed here like Judas Priest, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, and Metallica I like well enough, but when the guy is more screaming than singing I turn it off.

I am not a fan of the screamers either.

Used to enjoy an old Danish band...........Rued Langgaard

How often I think they're just out walking

They won't be much longer, they'll soon be returning

The day is fine, Oh never fear

They're only taking the long way back....

Anything on a Crusty Demons Of Dirt Video.

The Disturbed. I'm not getting down with the sickness but I feel like I'm getting stupified.

Does Robin Trower count?

Marty reading review: "This tasteless cover is a good indication of the lack of musical invention within. The musical growth of this band cannot even be charted. They are treading water in a sea of retarded sexuality and bad poetry."

Nigel: That's just nitpicking, isn't it?

I love Nirvana but wouldn't class them as metal.

I'm not into the screamers and grunters either.

AC\DC I do like, early stuff preferably. I love Bon Scott's vocals (RIP).

Oddly though I do have a soft spot for Motorhead, some might say Lemmy is a grunter, to me he's just unique.

I like the Foo's, some of Metallica.

I also quite like Blue Oyster Cult.

Lynryd Skynyrd I find excellent, but don't really fit into this category but they get a mention for being superb.

Lots of people have told me to listen to Rush, I've only heard a few of their songs but what I have heard I like.

Black Label Society, Slayer, Anthrax, Suicidal Tendecies, Dokken, Black Sabath, Pantera, Tesla, TSOL (more punk)

I think Rush is more rock than metal IMO.

Black Sabbath all the way. Gotta love the first couple albums. War Pigs, Paranoid, Ironman, The Wizard, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and of course Black Sabbath itself have gotta be some of my favorite songs.

Agreed. But you're missing out if you haven't heard the albums they did with Tony Martin, Ian Gillan and especially Ronnie James Dio.

Finally we have some winners. Queensryche is incredible....at least the original QueensRyche. Fate Warning is also an incredible band, even today.

Skid Row put out some awesome tunes on their first couple albums.

Van Halen, Priest, Maiden....Classics.

Foo's rock the stage.

I'm also a huge fan of Megadeth, ACDC and who can leave TOOL out of this????
