OT Here are few images of my hometrip for those who are interested

hallo friends,

 

just wanted to post some pics for you to get an impression how it looks like.

 

first few pics for bullethead. sorry, pal, they are not very good, nor are there many, but it's not easy to make pics with a girlfriend at your side :ouch:

 

 

here are some pics of the house and garden and all that stuff of my grandfather on the island krk.

of course the family lives nowadays in modern houses, but it's still in the families ownership.

 

the old "kitchen"

 

we still use the old property for making wine, grappa and best of all prosciutto. it's covered in salt, kept dry and hangs there for months in the hot mediterranean climate. actually it's the very same like prosciutto di parma.

there were more pics of the island brac, famous for it's marble. the white house is built of marble of brac.

So very good of you to share your pics with us Creaghorn. Reminds me of my time in Italy and Medjugorie. From the plane the Croatian Adriatic coast was breathtaking.

I had no idea Croatia was such a pretty place, but the inanimate and 2-legged scenery. I've added it to my list of places I need to go before I die.

 

And BTW, that's my kind of kitchen you've got there. When you can't tell at first whether it's for cooking or blacksmithing, you know you can do some good cooking there .

split or dalmatia in general is definitely the place you have to go. i have never ever seen anything comparable. must be the water or something. you'll never see anywhere so many beauties in one place. you'll fall in love about every minute. really unbelievable. i know that every country says the same about some places, but i've never experienced it to be so true like in split .

downside is, they're all pretty arch catholic with much pride and honor and hot temper. a tourist will hardly have a chance to score. even the males living there have hardly a chance. they are really really picky and hardly play games. if you have one, that's almost half a marriage.

Yes, my wife and I had a wonderful time there. We stayed with a family and walked the countryside. I remember eating cherries from a tree in a field and getting a better pizza than I had in Italy. The roses were abundant and the people were beautiful.

All those ladies are all very nice indeed... but my mouth is watering too over the prosciutto, not to mention the wine and the grappa! I'm off to the travel agents to prepare my itinerary... to include Dalmatia... now, how can I swing it on expenses... hmmm? :scratch_one-s_head:
