btw. in my recent roland campaign it happened twice so far that one of my wingmen simply exploded on the airfield (or was it just the grass?). i considered it like one of the common accidents which happened quite often in real.

it was the first time it happened, so it's maybe dependend of the airfield, since i'm flying right now with the marine-staffel.

OK... I'll tell you what... here is a very cryptic riddle of what might be and might not be in P4.

 

The sunrise in the eastern sky will be brighter, with more bands of colors. The western sunset will finally be correct.

The theater will have more patrons watching the movie even if it's not the movie they want to see.

A balloon made of lead will never fly, it will drop like a rock.

The breadmaker will have to work harder to earn his dough.

You will think twice about choosing what side you're on because it won't be based on loyalty anymore.

 

Take your guess as to what the hell I am talking about... or simply have paitence (your best option). Believe me, Winder is commited to amazing you and seeing this to the highest level we can.

But whatever that and the others mean, I have no doubts that P4 will be great.

I don't hang out at many of the other flight sim forums, but I have to assume we are talking about a recent WWI competitor whose name shall not be mentioned on this forum.

 

If what you say is true, it is truly despicable! There is a name for lifting intellectual property and ideas from a competitor. It's called industrial espionage! No wonder your posts over at "their" forum were promptly discounted and deleted. To do anything else would be for them to admit their guilt.

 

This really burns me bum! OVS, Winder, and Pol, among others have gone out of their way to avoid letting threads on this forum turn into "other sim" bashing threads, and have taken every opportunity to emphasize that they are not in competition with any other sim, etc. Unfortunately, their courtesy has not been reciprocated.

 

If OBD were composed of "wealthy" game developers, bwahahahahah, I would advise them to turn their crack legal team onto those wankin' thi**es!

 

I'm sorry, but I had to vent. Mods, if you wish for me to delete this post, just let me know.

We always fly the higher sky. Again, I regress from any finger pointing, it's not the nature of my post, but I feel the requests for us to post pics and stuff, and why we are not doing it anymore deserves a fair and honest reason.

 

We're continuing to plug and chug on things that will no doubt make you very happy and hopefully create an even higher level of interest in OFF for years to come.

 

What others are doing, is their business, but we're making it our business to keep things under wraps until it's ready to be unveiled.

Creaghorn, the exploding grass was a swampy/bogy looking turf found usually at the edges of fields

I think the DM was added to simulate flip overs etc.

Trouble was, if you rolled even a 1/4 turn of a wheel onto it, POOF! up in a fireball you went ...then back to the Enlistment Office

Devs removed it to rave reviews

Anyways it looked nothing like the light green, dusty turf on the airfields in P3

True. Specially the campaign HiTR. Too much coincidence I'd say, in spite the American market being always attractive to any simulator.

I remember one of our dear developers, and myself, tried to raise the coincidence issue in the other forum, but we were both silenced and our posts erased.

So I say, some precaution is needed; and if this is just a game nonetheless there're commercial interests involved.

I'd like a honest competition, but this seems to be hard in these days.

It's true that I support both games, but my heart will be always with OBD.

So I guess, I don't really need a bone. I trust the OBD's capabilities to improve OFF.

I'll wait but hope that it won't take long for phase IV.

 

I agree on all counts VP. The removal of said posts was bad form. Like ... hey I don't like this so I will eliminate it without explanation. Not isolated though. Seen it a few times. It's just sooooo laughably ironic ....

 

But the worst paranoia I've ever seen was when Pol was accused of blatant OFF advertising in the *** forum. I know Pol, as a gentleman, would never resort to such pithy and childish tactics and I questioned the whole sordid matter abounding with the usual inuendo and name calling. In the end, a moderator finally coughed up that he'd done it ... by accident lol.... and issued a lame apology (imo) .... which Pol accepted with good grace as usual (publicly at least). Why you would accidently move a post with someone else's name on it to another forum that was sure to cause controversy was never explained.

 

But I never expected such paranoia here. I guess money really is the root of all evil.

 

And yes, I support both games. Any die hard WW1 flight sim fanatic would be stupid not to. There's so few around and the community needs to support them lest they fall and flounder. I don't want to see that.

 

But like you VP, OFF was my first love. And one never forgets their first love and the tugging of the heart strings. It will always be special and I will always be loyal to it. But not to the point where I will dismiss all others.

 

And no, I don't need a bone either. I don't need updates. Que sera sera and all in good time. It's in good hands.

Whilst moderation is necessary for all fora - mainly to stop them degenerating into a race to the bottom, content and IQ wise - I've frequently been surprised at the bashing that goes on on the SimHQ forum, and the lack of input from its mods if the bashing is directed at games other than TSTMNBN. Being partisan is one thing, but as mentioned above by others, supporting all the products one can is not a bad idea in such a niche area, and hence the blanking of other games by some members of that forum seems to me to be partisanship of the worst possible variety. As to the HitR business, well, that was simply rather childish and spiteful to my mind, and I'm sure it may well have left something of a bad taste in the mouths of gamers who subscribe there and play both games.

 

Back to the main subject, I'm very much looking forward to P4 - I hope it will have a suitably inspiring name - and I will happily respect OBD's wishes to keep the whole thing under wraps until such time as it's ready to take flight, so to speak. I'm very much looking forward to filling in full page claim forms...(hint, hint!).

I assumed that probably some fanboys start to flame and they tried to control it. Like themightysrc said, at the time it left me something of a bad taste in my mouth.
