East Africa/Madagascar Terrain, Version 2.0 for SF/Wo* and SF2

East Africa/Madagascar Terrain, Version 2.0 for SF/Wo* and SF2

This is a complete rebuild of the terrain originaly released in June 2004. It has been extensively retiled, and has had a MAJOR upgrade in the targetization. It is designed to COMPLETELY replace that original version. It has been fully updated to use in the post-patch and SF2 worlds.

This is a COMPLETE package, with everything needed to just unzip, install, and fly over. All the tiles are included, including Stary's "Mad Trees Mod", creating a more 'lush' version. Many new TODs have been created, so you'll see lots of trees and small buildings in and around the cites.

Extensive upgrading has been performed on the targets, types, data and movement inis , to make use of 08 and SF2 level terrain effects, and the targeting enhancements. New planning maps of all 3 levels have been generated and included.

It is reccomended (read: REQUIRED) that you have Pasko's SAMs and Vehicles Pak installed in your GroundObject folder; either or both the Desert or Euro skinned vehicles, plus any additional vehicles such as Kesselbrut's ZIL truck pak, Infantry paks, Moonjumper's fix for the BM-14-16 (adds working Kytusha rockets) and any other SAMS or AAA, vehicles or whatever strikes your fancy.

It has been tested in all 1st Gen Sims (SF/WoV/WoE/ at 10/08 patch levels) and SF2 (merged).. It should work in FE & WoI (also post Expansion Pak and Post Patch) with the correct cat pointer -- this has NOT been tested, however. It should will work in SF2, as long as you adjust the cat pointer lines in the main ini, and 'reroute' the terrain effect pointer (more on that in the install instructions, below). However, with the old style terrain effects, it works just fine.

Yes, for those expecting it, there IS at least one Easter Egg on this terrain ...

MAKE SURE YOU THOROUGHLY READ THE README ON HOW TO USE IT IN ALL SIMS! or you will be clowned...big time.....

Like Dave said, I WILL seriously clown people that ask dumb questions!!!

Stary: look at the data ini and the readme ... a simple comment/uncomment of 3 lines in 5 places (ie: the 08 style terrain shaders are deactivated for SF2, and are easily turned back on for SF/Wo* 08 installs) Works a charm!!

There ARE some visual 'oddities' that happen occasionally (semi-transparent hills near the ocean/clipping caused by trees???), but I think that's a game engine fault with the really old terrains. Just ignore the 'oceanic hills' in some places...was unable to remove them via HFD modifications (as in, the HFD is totally BLACK when viewed in the TE)

BTW ... we'll be waiting for the first person to post a screenie of the Easter Egg!

ok...Spectre, i'll bite...

1st off, this is an absolutely gorgeous upgrade of the original AE terrain! :clapping::good:

2nd: i'm running SF2:E with Feb2010 patch.

3rd: i can fly fine on single mission(no problems at all) however, when i begin the Out of Africa campaign(yes a new one after upgrading terrain) it CTD's everytime.

now, i've looked in the .ini's to see if there are any "problem areas" but cannot find any out-of-the-ordinary stuff.

and, i also know that the org. OoA campaign was from first gen series. could this be the issue?

all of my other "carryovers" from series 1(DS,RT,LB1,LB2..and countless others) work fine even with a great deal of tweaking.

i have noticed that the org. OoA(AE data.ini) has nothing below the strategic nodes listing.

has anyone here modded the campaign .ini's to allow it to function?

if so, can you send me the .ini's so that i might understand more fully.thanks for any and all input, be it helpful or comedic!

p.s. i still haven't noticed that elusive easter egg!

awaiting my virtual throttling about the ears and nose!

HINT:

What, most recently, is Madagasscar most famous for? Who (or what more likely) is it's most comedic Royal export?

another hint:
