Poll: What are the System Specs of OFF Pilots ?

We had such a poll before, but some time ago. Some may have upgraded the systems meanwhile.

So here are some questions again.

They will show us, where we OFF Flyers stand right now. This may be useful for everyone to see,

if he is up to date or should perhaps upgrade soon. Maybe also interesting for the devs to see.

 

The small "x" in type numbers mean, that there are various products with different numbers, but

on similar level.

 

PLEASE ALSO CHECK YOUR PERFORMANCE INDICATOR

Right-click on your computer icon on the desctop, and click on "Properties" in the menue.

There are numbers for the various parts of your system, and a blue highlighted number.

Please write this number into your posts.

Duke, here's how it looks in German Windows. Sorry I don't know the right English descriptions.

My system is rated 5,9, cause my slowest part is the harddrive. With an SSD I could be over 7, I suppose.

The rating thing is a bit hit and miss (imho)

 

I formatted my PC...but didn't have any change of hardware...yet my rating went up!....nice gimmick...but I dont trust it's accuracy

I like the idea of this poll, the only question I have is about using the windows experience index (which incidentally is a Windows 7 only tool, as far as I know, certainly XP did not have it), and the fact that it rates the system as per the lowest score. So my system rates the following.

 

Processor 7.4

Memory (Ram) 7.5

Graphics 7.8

Gaming Graphics 7.8

Primary Hard Disk 5.9

 

So I get a score of 5.9, now if we discard the HDD which we all know is the slowest part of the system and average out the other parts of the system I get a score of 7.6 and if we add the HDD in and then average it out I get a score of 7.3 (in each case I have rounded to the nearest tenth of a fraction)

I'm not sure where my "performance spec's" are at, since I'm running XP 32 bit. I don't seem to have that info available from right clicking 'My Computer>Properties.'

 

It's a Gigabyte AMD socketed micro ATX Mb with a Regor Athlon II 250 which isn't in the list of processors in the poll..

You can use CPUZ or PC Wizard. Both are free. I prefer PC Wizard because it gives me temps as well.

Seems the "performance rate" is pretty simple, when it only rates the system after the slowest part.

After I'd gotten this set-up running and related drivers updated, and after loading OFF and TrackIR, I began the process of dialing it all in. What I ultimately came to find was that with my CPU overclocked to 3.80 and my memory overclocked to 890 I could push OFF with the sliders at 5-4-4-5-5 and keep a solid 45 to 60 FPS with no white jaggies of any kind, no matter how quickly I looked around or how large the dogfight. The only time I do get the dreaded pale triangles is when I am also running FRAPS to capture a video, and even then it is minimal. Now, I realize that more card memory would be wonderful and if you have the budget by all means go for it. But if the pennies are tight, I would recommend opting for the speed. That being said, I also wouldn't go any smaller than a 512 card.

Lou, I see you disabled "In Cloud Effect". I thought that was to make the haze/fog in the clouds?

Or is it something else?

Ooops, my bad Olham. "In Cloud Effect" should not be disabled. I had tried that a while back as I was getting some strange effects when in the clouds, but I discovered it was one of my graphics card settings causing the issue.

Does anyone know about readyboost? Would it help run off any better?
