exhausted 55 Posted August 13, 2011 Tonight, I found myself deep into an internet stupor, fascinated by the things that have shaped our world recently, and one event has stood out to me beyond the reach of anything else : the neutralization of Osama bin Laden. As I watched President Obama's speech from that fateful May night, i felt an overwhelming sense of national pride and a deep appreciation for the entire chain that lead to bin Laden's justified death, from Seal Team 6 all the way up to the Commander in Chief, President Obama. I cannot think of a single event that has meant so much to me in the last 10 years yet. I just want to say that I'm proud and I'm glad we can, as a country, appreciate the all-important task of defending our country from murderers and terrorists of all types, at home and abroad. I have never felt as good about anything in my life about the future as I did in May and I know the future is bright for the United States, NATO, and every other person that has been negatively affected by al-Qeada and it's crony workers that have spread fear and death throughout our entire world. To the President, the United States military, especially my beloved Marine Corps, NATO, and the people we defend I give a giant, well deserved.... HOORAH!!! Thanks for reading my rant and loving freedom, democracy, and justice!
JediMaster 451 Posted August 15, 2011 Indeed. Unfortunately, in the current world of 24hr news cycles, in just 6 months it will be more "history" than anything else. Since it doesn't affect the economy, China, or who will win which upcoming election, it will just be another bullet point on "things that happened in 2011". Lexx_Luthor 57 Posted August 16, 2011 Can't blame the media. Even the MiC -- Military industrial Complex -- seemed to go silent about BinLaden for a few years, when we were encouraged to assume OBL was killed early in some Afghan War cave bombing. Who knows, that silence may have been a ploy to get OBL to relax a bit and get sloppy and then dead.

I like to remember that they are the "commercial" media, which gains its lifeblood, advertising dollars, by presenting whatever will get the most viewers to listen to them. Since the number of viewers who watch their presentations dictates how many advertising dollars they get, it behooves them to "create" news on slow days or embelish what is presented when there is real news. They are victim of the commercialization of their own journalistic ethic. After all, somebody has to pay those huge 'anchor' salaries. The Brits got it right when their 'anchors' are just called 'newsreaders'. Keeps egos in check. Having said that, I am freely admiting that, like spouses, we cannot live with them and we cannot live without them. Osama has been escorted to his final judgement from Allah by all of his victims. Might turn out to not be what he was expecting. Edited August 20, 2011 by Jug
Lexx_Luthor 57 Posted August 20, 2011 Jug:: I do blame the media. The mainstream media or "MSM" played along, or so I guess. But then, it makes sense to be silent before nabbing the man. That's what I mean by not blaming MSM. Even our MiC was silent about BinLaden for some years, president BushBama and spokessouls included, in their role as (theoretical) head of the MiC. If there is one thing we can blame MSM for, its their not being "commercial" as in a free market, or *some* of the MSM players would be gaining viewers instead of EVERY one of them losing viewers to teh internets, or to alternative news. Each of the MSM players cover the same identical things, yet they are supposed to be in competition? Think about that for a minute. I'm going to guess, if some in the MSM wanted commercial success, they would cover banking fraud, SEC .gov financial fraud, MiC fraud that Eisenhower tried -- and failed -- to warn American men and women about, the central bank monetary debasement behind rising prices, the municipal financial collapse, Foreclosure / Mortgage Fraud, etc... That last one is Karl's sub-forum by that name. Czech it out. Lots of ex military and airline pilots over there.
