+Eagle114th Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Hello everyone, I saw one of most interesting Russia experimental aircraft called IL-102 that flew in 1982. This aircraft deserve to be flown as 'what if' AC that enters combat service for Russia as strike fighter aircraft. davenunez Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I had only ever seen a single sketch of this in an old Jane's. Thanks for sharing, great video!
+SayethWhaaaa Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 (edited) Check out this episode of The Wings of Russia around the 37:40 mark and you'll see it in action... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VN6x3k7SK78 Edited October 26, 2011 by ZmelliFahrdz
+76.IAP-Blackbird Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 If the bird had a more round nose, so there could be stored some systems, like in a combatchopper, but its ugly as hell
+SayethWhaaaa Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) Its more than ugly. But you know how it goes, the uglier it is, the more capable it is. Look at the A-7, A-6, early model Harriers and the F-4 for example. And the Il-102 is downright FUGLY!! By the transit of properties, it must have been awesome! +Spillone104 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Right. this is FUGLY but.... have you ever seen a pic of the father of this one? the IL-40? http://www.hobbiesvicente.com/images/AMU72213.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilyushin_Il-40
Hellfish6 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 There is a mock-up of one of these in a military museum in Wisconsin.
+Spectre_USA Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Makes the Warthog look downright glamorous! Yikes! Not just double-ugly, but ugly squared...
