+hgbn 91 Posted November 30, 2011 Greetings to all of you OFFer's I wonder if anybody of you play some of the other games at this site?? Reason I ask is that I'll need a hand from a couple of Prop jockeys to test some projects. Who would be most fitting to ask other than you guys The game we are talking about is SF2 from Thirdwire
Slartibartfast 153 Posted November 30, 2011 Yup OFF and SF2(Everything) with a blend of FSX...

33LIMA 972 Posted November 30, 2011 I've got most of the TW sims starting with SFP1, tho only FE2 and SF2(E) from the second series so far. Love the 60s jets and much prefer the TW appraoch to playing 'airborne radar mode switcher' in F4 etc (no offence to those who like that, F4 is still a mean sim). Play First Eagles Gold & First Eagles 2 a lot, SF/SF2 when I want a change of pace. RoF when the fancy takes me too. Haven't tried any of the many SF/SF2 home-made prop planes as I want to fly campaigns not just planes. Tried to persuade TK to do WW2 when he polled re a next project but no dice. Pity, we badly need an 'EAW2' and with a proper logbook and some creaking bedsprings thrown in, SF2 would be a great engine, just as it was for WW1 with FE/FE2. Never really warmed to the BoB/BoB2 'wargame' approach, CFS3 with expansions is just about good enough at mud-moving but there's a real gap now for a better WW2 ETO-based sim, especially as CloD seems to be a bit of a disaster in many respects and may never have a respectable SP career/campaign, even if all else is fixed...but I digress... tranquillo 10 Posted November 30, 2011 There are other flight sims? Only Il2 but I don't fly that often anymore.
Cody Coyote 1 Posted December 1, 2011 CFS2, Wings of Prey; but nothing regularly anymore.
carrick58 23 Posted December 1, 2011 Not Regularly, I always come back to OFF, BoB II. However, I would love to add A Koren War Jet /Prop Game
MikeDixonUK 5 Posted December 7, 2011 (edited) At the moment I mainly play 'WW2 Online: Battleground Europe' which is a 'combined arms' multiplayer game, which includes air forces (although it's mostly centred on Infantry combat, then Armour, then Air, then finally three blokes in the Navy! ) - that I play with my Squad (19RAF, after No. 19 Squadron RAF - *Cough* Sopwith Dolphin *Cough*) Here are a few of my videos: (Note: not ingame sound effects.) This one is from a while back when the Luftwaffe players said they'd 'destroy the Royal Air Force and bomb all of their Factories with our mighty bombers' so we shot down all their mighty bombers and went home for tea and cake! And this one is from a realism event to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the Battle of Britain: Edited December 7, 2011 by MikeDixonUK
MikeDixonUK 5 Posted December 7, 2011 And here are a pair of generic videos of general gameplay (with ingame sounds): Bomber Escort: Close Air Support:
abyss 1 Posted December 7, 2011 There are other flight sims? Hell yeah OFF with Guns FSX no guns
SirMike1983 3 Posted December 8, 2011 I mix in Rise of Flight sometimes. ROF has the advantage of its own unique engine and physics, but OFF has the advantage for period immersion, stronger campaign and wider array of options for play. They each offer different focus. My machine plays OFF more reliably; I do get somewhat random lag spikes in ROF on occasion. I usually play ROF in single mission mode, just messing around with dog fights and the like. I play the off career mode more.
Andy73 3 Posted December 9, 2011 OFF is always Number 1 but sometimes (every few Weeks or so) I also play a Campaign with IL2 1946 with Ultrapack 3. I like those big Mod-Packs, gives you the feeling that you are playing a completely new remixed Game.
UK_Widowmaker 571 Posted December 9, 2011 Nice smoke FX in that screenie m8

Macklroy 2 Posted December 10, 2011 (edited) Heya MikeD, WWIIOL or Battelground Europe (as it is sometimes called) is the best wwii air combat pvp available today, hands down. Really too bad that it is more focused on ground combat or it could be even better. I played from realease in 2001 untill just about a year ago. Some of my best and most memorable experiences in air combat are from that game. Always goood to see that others are enjoying it as well. themightysrc 5 Posted December 10, 2011 I used to play RB3D, IL2 and some other stuff, but I can't be arsed now. OFF is the best choice for me, because I'm a history junkie/masochist.
kaa 0 Posted December 10, 2011 BOB 2 wings of victory...consider it with the same respect than OFF.
Cowboy10uk 0 Posted December 20, 2011 Hi guys, new member here, while I've only just installed OFF, although not been able to fly it, due to a few issues I'm trying to fix, I do fly other sims. The main ones are DCS A10 and Black shark 2, which I fly as a co op package, both stunningly great fun, FSX of course when I'm in need of a a gentle flight with no one shooting at me :). I also fly ROF quite abit on Mp, while I do love this sim, I can't help feeling that something is missing, hence why I've bought and installed OFF. Also have COD installed, although spend more time trying to get that to run at any decent fps than flying the darn thing. Which is a pity considering the potential it had. Ta ta for now Cowboy10uk
themightysrc 5 Posted January 2, 2012 "Hi guys, new member here, while I've only just installed OFF, although not been able to fly it, due to a few issues I'm trying to fix, I do fly other sims." What ho, Mr. Cowboy - did you get those 'issues' sorted out? If not, why not post them up here - somebody will be bound to know the answer...
Javito1986 14 Posted January 2, 2012 The only other sim I play with any regularity is BOB2, though it's been a while now. No other WW2 sim in my opinion comes close to recreating the feel and scale of those 1940s air battles. Flying into a melee of 1000 aircraft is something that has to be experienced by every flight sim enthusiast to be appreciated. I admit I am interested in trying out some of the online pvp mentioned in this thread. Since I was a kid I've always thought of how fun it would be to fly online in a realism squadron and do some virtual reenactments. But we need a WW1 version. I mean how awesome would World War 1 Online be, with players filling the roles of historical fighter squadrons, going on patrols and busting balloons? Course I wouldn't tolerate any respawning, it would HAVE to be DiD... Drool
CW3SF 0 Posted January 6, 2012 Of all the flight sims I have enjoyed over the past 15 years or more nothing equals the B17 mighty eight as the best in every way. It had a unique sub program that let the "game player" ( us ) improve a crew members rating-- but only if we did a very good job at that task. Having to leave your crew position to help an injured man was unique to only this sim. If he survived, you got a valued crew member back, if not here comes a rookie. Sure would be nice if in P4 there was some way to train our wingman how to shoot and follow directions. Just my dimes worth.
carrick58 23 Posted January 6, 2012 I enjoyed playing B-17 the mighty 8th . An update would be great with more sqns in flight and the fighters on AI and Graphics. The one problem I always had was finding the parking place after landing when I got back.
