Slant6 Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Just put my first desktop together. Windows 7 64. Pentium G860 sandy bridge 8gb ddr3 and HD 6750 video card. Big change from old socket 939! But even with wait for vertical refresh (ATI-speak for vsync) turned off I don't get beyond 60 FPS in SF2. Doesn't matter if graphics are low or high. Running catalyst 12.4. SF2 has a 2009 patch (I forget the month). Any way to fix this? Thanks. Quote
Slant6 Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 Well I just thought it odd, that's all. I had vsync turned off with my Win xp old 939 system and 7900 GT, and thought I'd do the same here. Quote
Panama Red Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 I have Win7, OC i7 975, AMD 6970 and all my TW games only do 60 FPS with vsync on or off. Sounds like it's internal to the games. Quote
Slant6 Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 Panama, thanks! Good name by the way. Reminds me of a New Riders of the Purple sage tune from way back when. Quote
Lazarus1177 Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 I really would not notice even the slightest difference between 58.8 and a 60! Quote
+ianh755 Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 (edited) I've just give it ago and with VSync forced off by my Nvidia drivers I get an average of 180+ FPS (1080p Unlimited) regardless of TW settings so it's not internal to the TW games. Probably an ATI Catalyst issue. Edited October 27, 2012 by ianh755 Quote
+Wrench Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 didn't one of the patches a few year back have a limiter built in??? Cause I'm at July 2012, and can see 120+ on debug mod but truthfully, I think it's the ATI Bug hath returned Quote
Slant6 Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 Hey, Wrench! Please see my follow-up post regarding help for the vsync impaired. Once I installed the Nov 2009 version of SF2I, all was fixed. No more fps cap and SF2[everything] runs like a scalded cat. So, hopefully, the ATI bug hath not returned. Quote
+SkateZilla Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 1080p Ulimited i get close to 400 FrPS. Quote
+Wrench Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 We shall SQUASH all ATI Bugs out of existence!!!! (of course, I only use Nvidia...but still, gotta squash 'em!) Quote
