Su-27 Cockpit Position

Recommended Posts

Perchance, has anybody got the cockpit position nailed after the last update from Thirdwire sans the quickfix of commenting out the ShowFromCockpit=TRUE line?

This is for Marcfighters Flankers.

Yes. You have to rotate out the canopy bow and the windshield frames. I will post the relevent statements when I get home this evening.

OK, in the Su-27_data.ini, add the following lines under the designated sections (you may have to adjust the coponent numbers to fit your existing sequence):

[AircraftData]

Component[012]=Hide1

Component[013]=Hide2

Component[014]=Hide3

Component[015]=Hide4

[Hide1]

ParentComponentName=Fuselage

ModelNodeName=arco

DestroyedNodeName=

ShowFromCockpit=FALSE

HasAeroCoefficients=FALSE

[Hide2]

ParentComponentName=Fuselage

ModelNodeName=Line07

DestroyedNodeName=

ShowFromCockpit=FALSE

HasAeroCoefficients=FALSE

[Hide3]

ParentComponentName=Fuselage

ModelNodeName=Line08

DestroyedNodeName=

ShowFromCockpit=FALSE

HasAeroCoefficients=FALSE

[Hide4]

ParentComponentName=Fuselage

ModelNodeName=Line27

DestroyedNodeName=

ShowFromCockpit=FALSE

HasAeroCoefficients=FALSE

In the cockpit.ini:

[CockpitSeat001]

ModelName=SU-27-cockpit

HideExternalNodeName=Canopy

Position=0.0000,5.25,1.57

ViewAngles=0.0,-0.0,0.0

The only drawback is that the canopy frame shadows occasionally appear as faint "ghosts", depending on sun angle and the sun's relative position.

Didn't work I'm afraid...I still think its the cockpit position that is porked.

I checked the .out file.

Somehow I don't find this

ModelNodeName=arco

line07, line08, and line 27 are present though

Either that or it's the viewlist as I mentioned in the pm

That may be the culprit, right there. The model itself is a newer one by Marcfighters (even though it's still 3-4 years old), and he may have changed it somewhat from the version that he released.

It's still not perfect, as you can see the "ghost shadow" that I was referring to, in the second image. It's being cast by the right-hand side of the canopy bow, or "arco".

Somewhat of a breakthrough...

For the really old models instead of arco, if one enters cockpit as depicted below, it gets rid of the unsightly stuff. Its not perfect, but atleast you can see out of the front!

[Hide1]

ParentComponentName=Fuselage

ModelNodeName=Cockpit

DestroyedNodeName=

ShowFromCockpit=FALSE

HasAeroCoefficients=FALSE

Thanks Fubar512 for giving me heads up on what I needed to look for.

Man, this is intricate!

Since we're on the subject, does anyone have a link to a download for the aircraft and the cockpit?

Wrenchs generic Cockpit fixes:

http://combatace.com/topic/58372-the-double-cockpit-issue/page__hl__%2Bwrench+%2Bcockpit+%2Bposition

It's the "CockpitCGOffset=TRUE" statement missing in Su-27_data.ini in the [AircraftData] section.

Add the text in "" right after the line CGPosition=0.0,-1.00,0.0

This fixes the cockpit position being in the seat, however the hide statements are still necessary for removing the exterior models canopy framing.

S!

Very interesting subject with very good updating possiblities!

So... I present you my repainting Su-27S cockpit:
