Wrench Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 (edited) Wanted: Expert level skinner, intimately familiar with Natural Metal finishes. Person is needed to assist in skinning one of the most important WW2 Allied aircraft. Template will be provided. Standard NDA is "don't tell nobody" (as if we all don't know this aircraft is coming!) This job is being offered (ok, requested), as the main skin/ini dancer sucks at NM skins. screenie below is WIP shot; not all decals are finished, nor is model fully ready. If interested, and meet the requirements, contact me in this thread, or via PM The WW2 Players, and I, Thank You Edited June 15, 2013 by Wrench 1 Quote

Centurion-1 Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Wrench you need to turn up the reflectivity and glossines in the TEXTURESET.ini. Comparison [TextureSet] Name=Iraqi Silver Nation=Iraq StartDefaultDate=1 Specular=1.000000 Glossiness=0.500000 Reflection=0.800000 DecalNumberRandomize=TRUE [TextureSet] Name=Iraqi Silver Nation=Iraq StartDefaultDate=1 Specular=1.000000 Glossiness=0.100000 Reflection=0.000000 DecalNumberRandomize=TRUE That being said Flogger does excellent templates and skin work! +gerwin Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Zur's F-86 sabres are a good example of doing metal textures. Quote
+russouk2004 Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 This is from my p47...I made the metal look by using real aluminium pics and selecting bits to use as each panel etc, adding weather etc is time consuming but worth it... 3 Quote
+russouk2004 Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 even with basic textures you can give look of flaky paint and metal looks...this is a flaking paint real pic I pasted and made opaque to give the wear n tear look...it also applies to bare metal...these are from my Indian Flanker. 1 Quote
Wrench Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 I tried following the 'metal working' tutorial in the KB, and came out terrible!! Camo is easy compared to NM!! Quote
+gerwin Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 That P47 texture is very convincing. One of the things I remember from doing the F-5E, was to select a individual panels, then give them a slightly different hue/saturation/lightness compared to the surrounding panels. Quote
